That would mean that around 2000BC there would have been an astronomical cataclysm, of which there is no evidence at all.

We could as easily suggest that there was no gravity until 2000 BC.

Of course it does, it is entirely meaningless without the seasons, the astronomical mechanisms of the relation of Earth, Sun and cosmos.
