Re: Cadent houses being weak vs planetary joys

Interesting, how can the Sun be happier in the 9th than in the 10th with any (be it though minimised) debility?

Re: Cadent houses being weak vs planetary joys

I seem to recall a horoscope (a second source besides Manilius, discussed by Deborah Houlding or more probably Dorian Greenbaum) mentioning the 10th as a temple of Venus. Seems to me a legitimate...

Re: Cadent houses being weak vs planetary joys

The same term (rejoicing) is used as for the seven planetary joys. The last sentence is particularly interesting, and may allude to some alternate arrangements by some Hellenistic astrologers -...

Re: Cadent houses being weak vs planetary joys

Indubitably, but our mutual friend Valens actually used another sign = house division.

Re: Cadent houses being weak vs planetary joys

Ptolemy recorded lots of thunder-storms in late summer and water at the end of summer. Interestingly this period coincides with 0.00 average rainfall....

Re: Cadent houses being weak vs planetary joys

Fascinating story. But the Sun, the Moon and the five planets do not appear in either their true colours or magnitudes on the eastern and western horizon worldwide.

Re: Cadent houses being weak vs planetary joys

I think that the warmest part of the day in most temperate regions is the Sun in the 9th house, not the 10th or 8th. The ancients accounted for seasonal lag with Leo, they could have accounted for...

Re: Love from here...

That kind of difference is most often due to daylight saving time. Some software check for DST automatically (they have records), some (like Valens and Morinus) require you to check manually.

Re: My Saturn Return is HERE - and it's hitting conj transit Saturn-Pluto. HELP.

Have you thought of turning to the God of hope who fills with joy and peace those who trust in him? He can overwrite the disharmonious aspects of the maleficent planets to the Moon/soul, as he is the...

Are you interested in exact calculation to use for chart calculation or only in general to get a feel for the astronomy behind it, say within a degree? If it is the latter, you can use a rising times...

Welcome SandPaw, I no longer subscribe to some of the methodology JA shared, written by me a Hellenistic siderealist at the time. I switched to a certain form of tropical astrology some time ago -...

Re: Cadent houses being weak vs planetary joys

Some time ago I wrote this on a thread related to the joy of Mars.

Something tangentially related to ''rejoicing''.

Thanks for the correction Osamenor! I am usually fine with mods editing and deleting biting comments on both sides if they want to stop a possible confrontation. It has to be fair.

Re: Cadent houses being weak vs planetary joys

The problem with explaining the seven planetary joys via house meanings is that you run into circular reasoning. It is much more likely that the house meanings came second after the joys were placed...

Re: Early death? Both of my young children have their moon in their 12th

Yes, the Maker decides how long one person lives and when one person dies, not his body.

Re: Early death? Both of my young children have their moon in their 12th

The average life expectancy in the Roman Empire was probably around 20, but if the child reached the age of five, the average life expectancy for that person rose to around 45. Infant mortality skews...
