Re: Stars beside Procyon in my chart?

Procyon was around 25 Cancer when you were born, so why anyone is telling you it's conjunct Pluto in your chart is beyond me. Fixed stars work by conjunction only, and for Procyon I wouldn't give...

Re: The 9th house

I hate to waffle on you, but what shape is the moon in? Ibn Ezra would say that it's somewhat harmful to religion, as the moon joys in 3, the opposite house to 9, but in Nativities and Revolutions...

Re: The 9th house

Imbecilic - the term sometimes applied to a disjunct house ruler.

Re: The 9th house

Alchabitius houses.

Religion is the opiate of the masses. Saturn rules 9 and is also the second triplicity ruler of 9 in a day chart, which zeroes it in further on that's what we need to look at....

Re: astrologer referrals please?

It's been a long time since I lived in New England - and I'm one of those dreaded traditional astrologers.

But there should be an astrological association of some sort near where you live - try...

Re: Will the procedure work in late Jan?

Momentary confusion here.

Am I the only person who judges 'will the medical procedure be successful?' by looking at the 10th house (procedure) in relationship to the first house (querent)?

Or...

Re: The 9th house

I can't speak to jyotish, but in traditional western you don't find much good in 8 or 12, except for a few really odd things like raising horses. They aren't considered as houses of enlightenment. 8,...

Re: Mutual Reception Valid?

I've never seen ancient or medieval astrology using dispositor trees, juicey. The Greeks had a system of ranking planetary power sort of along the lines of a captain, the first mate, and so forth in...

Re: Alone?

Your house of marriage, the 7th, is ruled by Mercury, which for practical purposes is in the 8th house - a place where it cannot act well.

You do have the Sun right on the cusp of your marriage...

Re: The 9th house

Retinoid, is your 9th house ruled by Cap or Aquarius? I ask because if it's Aquarius then Saturn is what used to be called an 'imbecilic ruler' - it can't see Aquarius from Capricorn, not in...

Re: The malefic Saturn ine the house of God

Always look at the Lot of the Sun, which is the Lot of Mystery, [and]
if you find it in a Jewish nativity in the sign of Aquarius, and in a
Christian nativity in the sign of Leo, and [in the...

Re: The 9th house

Sciences. And once again I turn to ibn Ezra because of an utterly fascinating variance in the Hebrew and Latin texts.

Hebrew text:
the science of the Sun is the law...

Latin text (footnoted):...

Re: The malefic Saturn ine the house of God

House systems aside (I don't want to get into all of that, either), it's fair to say that of course a good bit of what ibn Ezra says is harmonious with his contemporaneous sources, and with past...

Re: The malefic Saturn ine the house of God

So far as I'm aware, ibn Ezra used the Placidean house system. I use Alchabitius semi-arc, and as for anyone else here...I don't know!

Re: The malefic Saturn ine the house of God

The sanest religious argument against that I've heard is that astrologers can tell you some things about the future, but we can't tell you all things. I tend to agree with that; astrology is perfect...

Re: The malefic Saturn ine the house of God

This is a neat thread. JupiterASC, a lot, a LOT, of the Persian astrologers wrote about religion and Saturn - Abu Ma'shar and ibn Ezra come instantly to mind.

There's universal agreement that...

Re: Will I find Romantic Love in 2013?

Standard horary tends to yes as well, though as someone earlier mentioned, I'm a bit concerned about sun in 12.

Still and all, the moon, your co-significator, is carrying light from Saturn, which...

Re: Mercury in Cancer Peregrine? Face and Term?

I don't use Lilly's terms, I use the Egyptian ones, and in those, Mercury's term in Cancer ends at 19 degrees.

There is some controversy over Ptolemaic terms, as you know. Deb Houlding did a...

Re: Mercury in Cancer Peregrine? Face and Term?

If Mercury is more than 19 degrees exactly, then it doesn't hold term in Cancer. But it does hold face, and face is enough to keep it from being peregrine.

Re: hyleg and alcoccoden

I'd take moon as hyleg with Jupiter as alchocoden. Jupiter rules Pisces and is in partile trine to the moon.

There are a number of different systems of determining the alchocoden (and the hyleg,...

Re: Hyleg and Alcocoden

And that is the key right there, not analysing 90,000 charts for hylegs, alchocodens, primary directions that could have prematurely cut the alchocodens' years short, etc. etc.

Taking a page from...

It only needs to if you want any of the charts here to be radical. If you don't care if they're not radical and therefore probably unreadable, then anyone can post without attempting interpretation....

SB, have you read anything besides Christian Astrology? I don't think even Lilly made that kind of a blanket statement but I'm too tired to look it up. He did, however, make a point of saying that...

Re: What does everyone think of the new zodiac?

I'm reasonably certain that the astronomers who dredge this up every five years or so aren't conversant with Rudhyar's work. And were they going by spatial, we'd end up with a lot more than 13 signs,...
