Signs and Houses

So anytime I am perplexed and can not find the answer on the internet I come here. So an example of an opposition in synastry is Virgo-Pisces. So how does it play out if the person has an Aries moon (moon is not in the 1st house) for example, and their partner has their moon in the 7th house. The 7th house is ruled by Libra which is opposite of Aries. Would there be a way to interpret that? Does this mean that one trait (Aries moon) is in opposition to the other persons needs (7th house).

P.S I have mercury in the 12th house so some times I do not clearly get across the message I am trying to convey, but if you understand my question, I appreciate you!

Re: Signs and Houses

If Moon in Aries is in the 2nd house, it will not be opposing anything in the 7th house.

So in other words Signs can not oppose houses.

Re: Signs and Houses

Opposition is an aspect of 180-degrees separation, give or take 8-10 degrees or so. Most often when two factors are opposed, they lie in opposite houses. It is difficult to understand your point. It is more important that they have an aspect than they are in opposite houses.

in no other area of astrology is there so much mess and confusion
than in the area of the so-called "houses" aka "house systems"

There are at least twenty or thirty different house systems
or means of dividing the so-called "birthchart"
into twelve segments of life activity.

In astrology, houses, mansions, or domains
represent general areas of life activity
and are the grounding areas or arenas of expression for planets.
Originally, the words "houses" and "signs" were interchangeable
i.e.
A planet in the SIGN of Aries was also a planet in the HOUSE of Aries
so that in effect. there were no real houses as we know them today

today however
the house location of a planet may change
DEPENDENT ON THE HOUSE SYSTEM CHOSEN
for example

Whole Sign House system ascendant sign becomes the whole first house
and the other houses follow.
ASCENDANT POINT ITSELF can then fall anywhere in the first house
and
MIDHEAVEN POINT anywhere in the upper half of the chart.

PLACIDUS IS SIMPLY THE USUAL DEFAULT
check for yourself by creating a Whole Sign Houses natal chart
and comparing with a Placidus

The Whole Sign House system was used by the ancient Greeks
and the Hindus (who still use it today).
It is the oldest and simplest house system in existence
and immediately eliminates the awful mess
astrologers have made on the issue over the last 1300 years or so
Artificial divisions now known as houses
were attempts by early Greeks and Hindus to measure strength "points" in the horoscope
which during 7th and 8th centuriesAD were construed or confused
as means of dividing the birth chart.
The ascendant and midheaven degrees and their opposites, for example,
were definite power points or areas of intense focus
but not necessarily the beginnings of a house or quadrant.

UNLESS using a house system whereby there are TWO SIGNS in 2nd house
and TWO OPPOSING SIGNS in 7th HOUSE
for clarity
use Whole Sign Houses

I am not quite sure what you are trying to say. Signs can most definitely oppose houses. When the sign of the 1st house is Pisces, it will oppose the 7th house in Virgo. But not the 6th nor the 8th.

Usually when people talk about stuff like opposition, conjunction, trine..etc, they are talking about the relationship between planets, or in some cases, between planets and important points such as angles.

PLANETS are located in SIGNS
and

PLANETS are located in HOUSES

IF using WHOLE SIGN HOUSES then a whole house is aka a whole sign

BUT
when using any quadrant based system
such as Placidus for example
then signs and houses are not in sync
