They also saw American divisiveness over Trump as furthering the Russian goal of destabilizing its arch-enemy, the US.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine has turned many far-right Americans against Russia and Vladimir Putin, even though they previously supported Trump's view that Russia was benign. A recent poll showed that 77% of Republicans now think Putin "is a murderous dictator."

In that sense, pro-Russia conspiracy theorists are "Russian assets." They are assets because Russia doesn't have to pay its own intelligence operatives to sow pro-Russian propaganda in the media when Americans will circulate pro-Russia opinions themselves. Public comments of America's Russian assets are shown on Russian state television.

Of course, other countries can freely sow disinformation abroad to their own political advantage when their propaganda is taken up in other places. Charles Lindbergh, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, were German assets in their day. Marine LePen is a Russian asset. Her party borrowed heavily from Russian banks and she advocates pulling France out of NATO.

My concern with this thread is with Russian assets who support Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

"Red herring" is a better description imo.

"Information that is intended to be misleading or distracting from the real topic."

Whenever evidence is found that proves Putin found a way to get Trump elected in 2016 using Russian agents posing as American citizens on Facebook, the extraneous , irrelevant response is "No collusion, no collusion no collusion!"

So WHAT!? Putin STILL effectively gamed the Electoral College system in the swing-States. Trump STILL won WITH Putin's help. It doesn't even matter if Trump was clueless about it. One of the first books I read as a teenager on vacation at the beach (for fun) was about the Rosenberg trial (also Russia and U.S. citizens) written by their 2 sons which broke my heart for them. Their parents were both electrocuted. I never believed in the death penalty because it's irreversible, if you make a mistake you cannot give back a life. just for the record here, I do think and have though all along, that Hunter Biden should be investigated again. He was investigated years ago as was his father by a bi-partisan (both Democrats and Republicans committee) but apparently that isn't enough now), so if something is there that they did against the law, we should know, and he (the President should step aside for 2024. We must know about this ahead of time imo.
