Gemini... change their minds too much. Virgo... clean, clean, clean, etc. I think they are the "Monk" sign of the zodiac. Ha! V/r LionKing

I'm an Aquarius mercury and while I communicate well when I think it out, sometimes I jump all over the place. I'm not sure if it's just me or not or if my Mercury could be afflicted or whatever. I know alot of Mercury in Cancers and for some reason they are very good at communicating.

mercury in aquarius is "best" by far...

as Isabel Hickey says, "The combination of saturn and uranus help steady the mind, making it resourcful, intuitive, and a good judge of human character."

For practical thinking gemini or virgo mercuries are best. But, if you want practical thinking mixed with a great breadth of vision you gotta go with mercury in aquarius.

haha my dad has mercury in pisces and boy is he a space cadet..

kind of a side thought but for anyone with mercury in aquarius, like myself, are being affected by neptunes influence. (also anyone with mercury in other fixed signs) I wonder if we re-assesed this after neptne moves into pisces in a few years how mercury in aquarius people will feel different mentally. again totally a side thought but something to think about.

Practical thinking is exactly how I think of Mercury in Virgo- my mother has this placement. Mercury in Virgo can definitely get bogged down in detail, worry over detail, and plain old worry for its own sake.

Vesper... that is not such a bad thing. I have Merc in Vigo in the 2nd H. I do worry some over money and check on it and to see how to make more of it. But it makes me check the paper-work to see if the calculations to problems are true.

...beware someone with an afflicted one in Virgo...[shudder...they can drive you insane if you have to work or live with them]

After reading this comment at 17.03.52 pm yesterday ptv, I have been thinking about it non-stop and found myself unable to sleep last night for worrying that I might have overlooked or misunderstood something in the detail of what you say.

It is now 08.35.32 on the morning of 26th September 2009 in the UK, so this has been on my mind now for approximately 15 hours 31 minutes and 40 seconds......during which I have cleaned the whole house three times, had two baths and brushed my teeth four times.......but I still find myself unable to decide if my Mercury in Virgo square Pluto in Gemini and opposite Saturn in Pisces is afflicted or not......and there never seems to be anyone around at home or work to ask.

And, I agree with Ms Hickey on Merc in Aqua.:D Where else could Merc be so progressive, tuned into frequencies other signs have difficulties even locating(;)), get the focus and direction through the fixed-ness of Aqua and Sat (at least as compared to the other air signs). Be it a good talk-show master, Oprah; my all-time fave writer, V. Woolf; scientists like Thomas Edison; genuises like Mozart; or the 'Liar' Jim Carey..... Aquarius produces all sorts:p. (of course, all signs do). I think, Merc in each sign plays its role, just a bit differently. In signs such as Gemini and Virgo, it has, however, the added power to do what it does best: think plus chatter (Gem), and analyse plus nit-pick (Virgo). Just kidding.

PS: we clearly need a poll on this thread.:p

why is mercury in Pisces the worst Potax? I have mercury in Pisces along with venus and although I can be a bit of a daydreamer at times I have great empathy with people in trouble and am highly intelligent with a high IQ.
I should think virgo might not be the best placement.A bit nitpicking perhaps and a trifle cool, but I could stand corrected before any of you virgos out there feel upset with me.Why should I care? well thats pisces for you.

Amen to that one, brother! I'm sure there are many people with Mercury in Virgo - our beloved EJ53, for example, who are not like the people I'm about to describe - but this is my experience.

My mother had Mercury in Virgo conjunct Neptune in Virgo, tightly conjunct her Ascendant. It was tightly squaring Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 4th. It also made a trine to Uranus Rx in Taurus in the 9th, and a semisquare to Pluto in Cancer in the 11th.

I'm not sure how this would be described astrologically... but in real life... she was a nit-picking, criticizing bit**. She had nothing good to say about anyone- always picked out what was wrong, never gave any acknowledgement for what was done right.

She was also a master at blame and projection - everything was always someone else's fault. She seemed to have no clue as to how to take personal responsibility for anything. She really projected an aura of "I'm perfect and never, ever make mistakes."

Next nightmare- worse than the first:

My first husband had a Mercury/Uranus/Pluto conjunction in Virgo in the 10th opposing Vesta Rx/Chiron Rx in Pisces in the 4th. The Mercury in Virgo conjunction also sextiles Neptune in Scorpio. And Juno/Pallas conjunction in Scorpio on his Ascendant.

Again- everything was my fault- the woman's fault. Women were evil - and I the most evil of them all - out to make his life miserable. He ruthlessly nit-picked and criticized every flaw I had, and many that I didn't have, but he imagined. In his eyes I was all evil, and had no good in me whatsoever. He was my mother in male form times 10. And like my mother, he gave precise orders, which better be followed without mistake -or else. My mother just threw hissy fits if I made a mistake - he was downright scary, and sometimes very violent.

Again, to this day, he refuses to take personal responsibility for any of the horrendous mental, emotional, and physical abuse he laid on me. I've been divorced from him for 26 years, have been doing emotional processing for 10 of these years, and am still trying to recover.

I'm sorry, but I do not have a good experience with Mercury in Virgo. They go to the bottom of the list for me.

On a lighter note......
I've always had very good communication with every Mercury in Scorpio I've ever met. (that I'm aware of) So I vote for Mercury in Scorpio to be the best Mercury.

I have mercury in Gemini
I think of it as a blessing and a curse!

Blessing:
Multitasking is nothin! Easy and I can actually dry my hair and clean the floor at the same time as I am using my foot to throw clothes in the hamper!
I can talk on the phone at work, do some chart work, and at the same time think in my head what I am going to do next

I know about many things

Curse:
I bounce around from idea to idea, getting frustrated that others are not either listening, or keeping up with me
I bounce around from idea to idea, making me seem as though I am mentally unstable

I know little about many things
