DYSJUNCT is a traditional term = not in aspect
for example
ADJACENT SIGNS are in AVERSION
as are SIGNS that are 150° distant from one another

one possible example relative to ascendant sign is:



If Venus is Ascendant ruler and in AVERSION aka DYSJUNCT aks DISJUNCT

then
the native MAY neglect their personal appearance :smile:


HOWEVER
generalisation is fun
but unreliable

and so
keep in mind also
that traditionally
VENUS rules TAURUS and LIBRA
and
BOTH Taurus AND Libra
are Exaltation hosts

i.e.
TAURUS is the Exaltation of MOON
and
LIBRA is the Exaltation of SATURN
and so
IF
Venus were DYSJUNCT a Libra or a Taurus ASCENDANT
then
Exaltation rulers influence on appearance
is greater than it would be
than if Venus WERE in aspect to the ascendant
thus the native would not necessarily neglect their appearance
i.e.

the entire chart requires delineation

Hmm, was wondering about this since it is not really true.
I have ac ruler disjunct ac and poor fellow is also the exaltation ruler (Mercury), but i am very much into how i present myself (and how i look, everything has to be perfect).
The fact that there is no control over ac issues, as the ruler cannot assist makes me think more among the lines that i am more prone to unforseen events (like illnesses or accidents).
If you have more info on this, please share.

viewing a traditional chart to check influences from bound rulers
could throw more light on these issues :smile:

If we take the Ascendant to be the helm and the Asc Lord to be the helmsman, the Lord of the Asc in aversion is like a ship without direction. This could indicate someone who just kind of stumbles into situations rather than consciously directing themselves into situations. They doesn't necessarily mean lack of success (depending on what other factors in the chart say), but success that is very much contingent on one's environment rather than the person's own actions or intentions. It's very much, in the right place at the right time.

I think you're right on the mark by mentioning illnesses and accidents since the Lord of the Asc can't protect the native from those things when it's in aversion to the Asc.

the traditional astrology concept of aversion
and how it plays out in interpreting a chart.
In traditional astrology aspects are primarily by whole sign
and the only aspects that are used are the classical Ptolemaic aspects
– sextile, square, trine, opposition.
Signs that are not in a classical aspect with each other
– either 30 degrees or 150 degrees
– are said to be in aversion
meaning they are turned away from each other, out of the line of vision
and
hence out of contact :smile:
