What is the Soul in astrology?

Well Natasha I am not an atheist as I cannot disprove the existence of God since it is a postulate that few can agree upon. I am certainly not a big fan of religion and as an amateur historian I can only marval at how so many have been slaughted for the glory of God. John Lennon had it right in my opinion, "Imagine there's no countries, and no religion too, nothing to kill or die for..." Something like that.

I would think that if the soul exists, and I keep an open mind on the issue, then it assumes a dynamic of persistance at physical death, otherwise what is the point? If so i wonder what it is made of and in what dimension it exists. I have read the posts on this thread carefully and no one has been able to define these areas except in a tautological manner, by defining in terms of that which it they are trying to define - the soul exists just because it does. To me this is difficult to accept, although I accept that belief in the soul is comforting to those who are concerned about their own mortality.

then you are agnostic which is not atheist..

Soul has almost nothing to do with faith *sorry for anyone whom i have managed to offend this time*

The soul of a person is in the entire chart.. it is not the house as i thought at first.

I hope one day we will all find our souls

cheers

Thats a good way of putting it Tikana.
And I dont feel that faith concerning a soul existance equates with a belief in the Judea christian sky god myth anyway.
Hindus Buddhists Native Americans & other indigenous cultures plus the earthbased spiritualities like wicca - all believe in the soul.

Those of us from Judea christian societies ( even in a virtually secular society like Ozz) usually equate a belief in the soul with christian beliefs.

I personally feel more connection to virtually any of the OTHER spiritualities I mentioned above viz Buddhism, Wicca etc
Also all except the Judea christian spiritualities believe in re-incarnation & it forms a major part of their belief.

From an astrological point of the connection to the soul is usually a best fit in a pagan or other non Judea christian spirituality due to the type of 'mysteries' which help to explain astrological symbols & even the planets names. For instance Hades the greek go of the underworld. This does not of course mean we a 'worshiping' the Greek pantheon of ancient greece but more that its a symbolic explanation which somehow by the most amazing synchronisity fits & explains astrolgical archytypes.

And where does the soul fit there. Well the souls went to the underworld ruled by Hades. Where they stayed until the reincarnated.

Soul. Spirit. Psyche. Ba. Ka. Ego. Self. Conciousness. Essence. Nous.

I have seen these words defined ind redefined an all kinds of ways, including via astrology. In the end, I could be quite comfortable with the idea that is its not possible to single out any one planet or mathematical point and definitvely say 'this is our Soul.'

The trouble with empahsising that there is a piece of God, or an immortal part of us, is that to my mind this creates potentially an unbridgeable polarity between this 'soul' and the dross of my mortal coil, thought, emotions, etc. I have already seen too much of that in many astrological tracts and treatises, gurus and their followers to feel inclined now to seek the answers to these questions in the individual horoscope. That way, dogmatic views about what is a valid part of my being and what is not can do violence to another's understanding of themselves, creating still more alienation.

Funnily though: only this morning, I read that the soul can indeed be found in the body, according to the latest findings, though Descartes preempted this stupendous intuition way back: it's in the pineal gland, apprently. Where out 7th chakra is supposed to reside, incidentally.

Neither is buying into a mindless world of corporate conformity and consumerism quite enough, somehow. Can't pretend that any Brave New World here can satisfy my bumbling soul urges here.

Another wisdom that impressed me was the idea that if we do have an immortal soul and as it is immortal, it has never been born and never died.

Out Soul or essence, or whatever, therefore, safely lies outside any astrological factor that can be manhandled by the labelling and categorisation of astrology and their charts. The birthchart is necessarily limited by a snapshot in tme. Every single factor in it.

And yet....the planets, the angles in the chart, do have a significance of a kind, maybe as a whole it shows the soul in a dimension it may originaly not have anticipated finding itself in, but this snapshot in time may only be showing a three-dimensional significance of something that may have more dimensions than that,
