Haizea, I am a card-carrying modern astrologer. Right now I am immersing myself in ancient astrology, but this is more of a history project than a training exercise. Precisely the bizarre dire predictions of ancient astrologers are the reasons why I don't think I want to practice Hellenistic astrology. Yet I also want to keep an open mind about learning some of it. For sure, you wouldn't find a neo-Hellenistic astrologer today speaking to a client in the language used by the ancients.
From Firmicus Maternus, 4th century AD 4: xxii: If you have no "planets in their full degrees [you] will be always wrtetched, destitute paupers, involved in every kind of ill fortune." And that doesn't even get into the real low-lifes!
Unfortunately modern astrology also has its fatalistic, negative practitioners. So I suspect the problem is more how people express their ideas than the techniques they practice. I really admire the supportive style of Dr. Farr, for example, even if I don't care to learn all of the traditional techniques he uses
But if I did some modern astrology talking about the 17th harmonic, Uranian hypothetical planets, the quindecile aspect, little-known asteroids, and trans-Plutonian centaurs, I wonder if that would go over so well with most "mod" members, either.
.Oftentimes the best solution to unwanted posts is just to ignore them. Where you think errors of fact are at stake, just give an alternative interpretation that you find more accurate.
