hello, everyone

i'm a 21yo newbie who's currently floating around the fields of astrology in search of self awareness. i study mass communications (with a specialty in advertising), but i'm not happy with the possibilities and feel like i don't fit in this area very well. i have a load of interests that differ a lot from each other and have "deeply" considered changing my course to psychology and pharmacy, but after all i'm still here.

right now i'm currently working in my university's office of international affairs, which is sort of a social work, as i help people by providing them the information and help with bureaucratic procedures they need to accomplish in order to make their academic mobility (in/out) happen. i sense i have very good mediator skills and thus am considering to specialize in international relations. i believe this feeling may comply with my see-saw map in 6th/12th houses, as in a broader interpretation they deal respectively with public and private interests, and that's mainly what professionals from this area do. am i very wrong?

here's a copy of my birth chart - in equal house system, as astrologer50 suggested me.

any opinion, help or advice would be very appreciated. many thanks!

Wow, ifa, that's an interesting chart. I am not surprised that you seem blessed with many options for career, as your chart shows me that you could do `this', or you could do `that', or on the other hand, maybe something else.

I do `see' the mediator skills in your chart..................you have a truly amazing stellium (a bunch of 3 or more planets within 10 degrees of one another in the same sign) in Cancer in the 12th house. It is in this Cancer stellium that you are gifted with:

  • sensitivity to the feelings of others
  • an ability to affect the lives of others for good
  • much-better-than-average communication skills (and I can tell from the way you constructed your post that you express yourself well in writing also)
  • the necessity to aim high in whatever endeavour you choose for yourself
Added to this, you have your Cancer stellium in opposition to another stellium in Capricorn - Neptune, Moon and Saturn. This stellium adds to your sensitivity and your ability to work towards whatever it is you believe in............ and you must believe in the worth of whatever you do in your life. I feel that the 6th/12th house polarity - which is where most of your planets are - gives you a drive to do something with your life which is significant, which will help others, and which will leave the world a better place.

No, you're not wrong. In fact, that is a very astute observation.

As far as international relations go, your Mars in Aries is in the 9th house (of foreign lands and cultures) and forms the apex of a t-square to several of the planets from your 6th/12th houses. Especially until you are 40 or so, I think you have hit upon a career area which can stimulate you, keep your interest, and in which you could do well.

There are other `interesting' things in your chart, but for now, I feel I have answered the question with which you opened this thread.

well, you have answered it in a way that made me truly happy. i'm sure there could be darker interpretations about that full-of-oppositions-and-squares configuration, but it seems that you tried me to see only the best of it. you probably have something really good in yourself for transmitting your knowledge with such lightness. i don't intend to be a bootlicker, but, in my opinion, that's the real purpose of astrology. thanks a lot!

How to find your career- sticky in Vocational Forum

6/12th houses are all about service and working behind the scenes

Ruler of the Tenth House in the Eleventh House
"Your career may be connected to an organization with a common cause, such as humanitarian efforts, wide-scale social change, etc. It may also involve your friends or large groups of people. Your career can be subject to unexpected circumstances beyond your control, however, breakthroughs can happen suddenly. You have the ability to be in a position of authority within groups of people and you can be something of an authority figure to friends. Most likely those who gather together work towards some kind of social change."

this gemini venus can be rather flirtatious and in air needs communiations at least short superficial. You do find a lot of gemini in shops and service industries. But we see her apex for Yod which makes it hard for her to express. Venus is all about pleasure socialising and how we earn/spend our money, along with 2nd house and 8th house. This venus is challenged by power struggles and illusions, pluto and neptune..

With so many planets in cancer, perhaps family counsellor?

Yikes, thats' quite the polarized chart:
Mars in 9th: a good indicator for international relations: cultural/religious/philosophy

First though you must resolve the Jupiter/Saturn opposition and find ways to balance between work and domestic interests...such avocations require a great deal of diplomacy, cultural awareness, integrity and judiciousness and Mars in Aries does not typically harmonize well because Aries wants to be the leader and in control...often this involves too many battles of wills in working with others...

Moon/Neptune conjunct; natural tendencies towards pharmacology: but there could be a tendency to commit fraud or deceptions within the industry...An active 12th house suggests involvements with institutions or large organizations...

pluto in scorpio can be indicative of working in fields of psychology, however it's placement in your chart indicates some in-depth psychological issues that you would first have to heal so as not to become obsessive or manipulative of those you might hope to be helping...Physician heal thyself, before attempting to help others...

current transits are helping to bring the polarity of energies [the 6th/12th house] into your awareness...again this is a specific area where you need to create balance within yourself...Can you offset the Martian temperament of anger and aggressiveness.

Solar afflictions can be problematic...gaining emotional control is a significant issue for you.
Pluto in Scorpio demands mastery of the self rather than have emotional control over others.

The nodal axis straddles the line of consciousness...a destiny involved with relationship interactions...
Ultimately you must work for the better good of all...rather than for personal acknowledgment and recognition....
Saturn is currently teaching us about gaining balance and equality in relationships...

Look toward Saturn in the 6th house - your ability to bring form to your perceptions (Neptune) allows for great counseling ability as well as a great disposition for discernment. Aries in the 9th in it's ruling planet also gives initiative of a self journey to a greater knowing (spiritually speaking), as well as the Cancer in the 12th house of "the mystery" or counseling of psychology. I see a very dedicated compassionate individual who truly cares for others and knows how to work in the realm of material success! You have an amazing future ahead of you. Just keep listening to yourself and continue your journey forward in the realm of service to humanity and you'll find it. From one Capricorn Moon to another keep your mission going with serving others. The trick of the journey is start mapping out your oppositions and start equalizing your opposites- of course that takes awhile but it seems you're up for the challenge.

Your big set of oppositions will require you to find balance in your own life. Generally this is done by finding a way in which two very different planets can agree on something. Sort of like, Mars wants to drive race cars, and Saturn says, "OK but wear your safety harness."

An emphasis on the 12th and 6th houses has been called a "serve or suffer" lifetime. Dedicating your life to a cause or group bigger than yourself should really help here.

International relations sounds good, but you might also look into mediation and arbitration careers on issues closer to home. This work is often done by people with social work or law backgrounds. The law is also a 9th house matter, so your Mars in that house should be helpful. The 6th house rules health as well as work and service; and the 12th house rules people who are shut-in in some way, such as hospital patients and prisoners. You might become involved in these areas for ypur career.

With your "yod" formation pointing to Venus in the 11th house, a good focus to develop is generating harmony (Venus) amongst groups of people; and seeing if they can "get to yes" on a shared vision for the future.

I notice currently T Saturn is forming your T Square into a grand square, which can cause enormous tensions...

T Square
http://www.drstandley.com/astrologycharts_tsquare.shtml
“Two planets in opposition squared to a third. The tension typical of the opposition aspect is aggravated by additional problems introduced by the third planet. Often an obstructive feature blocking the normal flow of behaviour of the person. Person needs to develop activities represented by the "missing" arm of the T-square to achieve wholeness”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natal_astrology#Aspect_patterns
http://www.skyscript.co.uk/aspects2.html
“The t-square is exactly like the above configuration except that one of the signs is missing. Time and again this is described as trying to sit in a chair with three legs. Ironically, the individual becomes the fourth leg by acting out the traits which are missing in the chart.”
http://www.skyviewzone.com/astrology/moreaspects2.htm

what tends to happen with T Squares is that a transit, progression or solar arc comes along and temporary converts it to a Grand Square, which does cause enormous tensions/problems internally, but the good thing is the get you up off your backside to resolve issues.

You can get an immediate chart interpretation from astro.com. From ‘free horoscopes tab look for free 'personal portrait' interpretation of a natal chart in the free horoscope section, you simply put the cursor on a planet and it brings a pop up box to explain what it means to have a planet in that house and any other aspects it has to natal planets. plus a six month free transit report in 'short report' Robert Hand gives a valuable in depth explanation of transits here – only slight objection I have with astro, is they use orbs of upto maybe 10' approaching, exact and departing. So most transits seem very long in effect. I use more realistic orbs of 1' approaching, 1' exact and 1' departing.

here is my favourite online ephemeris which plots where the planets are for hundreds of years...

T Saturn opp mars could cause delays and frustrations (exact 18.12.11), with transits I use 1' approaching, 1' exact and 1' departing. Orbs may vary quite a bit, it's upto you if you feel it's effect and when, but using the above ephemeris will give you the degrees...
