Looking at the chart I see that there is no planets in houses 1-5, Is this a bad thing?? And if anyone has the same emptyness how has this affected your personality or interactions with people??

Hi Cassie. Nothing is ever "a bad thing" in astrology, so dont worry about that.
You have all your planets above the horizon, showing that your focus is on outer things and that you probably neglect your inner life or at least are not really looking inside yourself. This can result in giving others blame for what happens in your life instead of looking at yourself and maybe discover that you could also sometimes be wrong, especially when it comes to dealing with others in relationships (very stubborn maybe??:)), also shown by the Pluto-Venus opposition in your chart. What are your own experiences so far? Has this affected your relationships?

Far from being an astrologer but would like to add to the question & answer. Hopefully not adding to the confusion but if houses are empty, would not their influence somewhat show-up in other places? For example, if there is nothing in the 8th house but there are three planets in scorpio, could that indicate the 'energy' or means of applying the self would manifest within those positions rather than the cut-n-dry 8th house placement? Almost like a check & balance thing in that 8th house energy/issues would be best worked out within those particular aspects or positions.

Always was curious myself about this with the opposite case applying to me with the 8th, 10th, 11th & 12th empty. In my novice experience, I have discovered that their corresponding planets &/or signs can be very much found throut the chart, giving me enough to have to deal with & thankful that I don't have anything in those houses.

But can certainly relate to the answer though reversing the outer with inner.

As I read somewhere on this Forum, if the house is empty, we take the ruler of that house and look where is it located and how is it aspected.

Hi Starlink,

thank you for your reply. I dont really blame other people for the things in my life. I tend to always blame myself. I feel like its never 100% someones fault and focus on what ive done, internally. but externally whenever someone points the finger I always have a response. My Pluto-Venus opposition has affected me. I never had a serious relationship. This whole time I have just been focused on school and now i'm focus on starting a career that I never look up around me for any kind of relationship.:( . Its sad, I know. But hopefully that will change:eek:

That might be the saturn in 7th house ruining my relationships (or the lack there of).

My last question that I am posing to anyone is that I do have asteroids in some of the lower houses (Chiron in 1st, Pallas in 3rd, and Ceres in 5th). Would this take the void of the houses away? How strong are thier impacts??

Nothing is void in a chart, if there are no planets deposited there. You said to me in PM that you new the basics, yet you are still asking basic questions. There really is no substitute for study, research and reading. I have sent you loads of links to explore, please take some time to try this....

An empty house is 'not empty' per se, cos the ruler of the house cusp describes the energy and how it plays out in that house.

Here are my personal recommend beginners links to focus upon Natal charts:-

Cappy Leo and Cassie Luv, hi. Houses are the playgrounds of our chart, the life compartments as it were. They dont really have energy by themselves. The energy is given by the planet that rules the houses, so, like Natasa also said, look at the rulers of the houses, always, notwithstanding whether they have or have no planets in them. But should there also be planets in that house, then there is a stronger focus on everything.

Take for instance the 8th house.
8th house has to do with transformation, joint finances, other people's money, inheritance, sex, life and death situations and generally shows crisis situations which have to be mastered.

It is a very deep house, and indeed has similarities to Scorpio (as being the 8th sign) and Pluto, its modern ruler. But Pluto and planets in Scorpio do not serve as a substitute for an empty 8th house. Planets are energy, houses not.
On the other hand, when you have nothing in the sign Scorpio, planets in the 8th house can indeed give the person an 8th house, Scorpionic if you wish, tone. A Mercury for instance will be thinking deeper, inclined to research. But where Mercury can express that deep thinking will be shown by the ruler of the 8th house.

Now, if you want to know how you would deal with 8th house issues in your life, you look at the ruler of that house. That ruler, in another house (life area) and sign (background colouring) will give you an indication where (house) you will express that planets energy.

Should the ruler falls in the 1st house, it is very much self focussed and you will most likely want to turn things inside out or transform things in order to come to the truth or deeply think about life and death issues;

if it falls in the 7th, you can expect powerstruggles or joint finance dealings with your partner or others in general, in the 5th, your children or you like to turn 8th house type things, like deepsea diving, psychology, the occult into a hobby.(also 5th house). Romance and sex will be mixed most probably.

The ruler of the 8th then also shows you how that energy will be expressed and now you look at the background (in Cancer? in Aquarius? etc.). Lets say that your 8th house is ruled by Venus (Taurus cusp). OK, you find Venus in your 2nd in Scorpio. How does a Venus in Scorpio react do you think? What does the 2nd house mean? (your own money). Conclusion: You will mainly have 8th house issues (power issues, life & death, crisis, research, inheritance etc.) related to 2nd house life situation (your income, your selfconfidence/worth). Extra note: Because we are seeing in a case like this an interaction between the 2nd and 8th house axis, money will play a big role in your life.

Then you also must look at aspects to that 8th house ruler. This shows if you are comfortable with 8th house principles expressed in the 2nd house (trines and sextiles) or not (oppositions, squares and occasional conjunction depending on which planet it conjuncts of course).

Should you then come to the conclusion that your are really uptight about money from what you can deduct, then also look at the Ascendant and it's ruler as well as how that ruler is aspecting that Venus or the 2nd house ruler. Maybe there are no aspects to Venus, maybe yes.

The Ascendant sign can help or hinder this placement also. Maybe a Libra Asc. will try to find a balance when needed, but if Ascendant is also Scorpio, then the money issues will reflect on you personally as well. (1st and 2nd house are then connected).

It is a lot to take in, but it is a systematic deduction and does give you some idea on how to approach empty houses.

Cheers, Starlink

Wow...thank you so much for taking the time to fill-in that very big blank & thoroughly I might add. Will have to pull-out the wheel with the notes & put it into practice. But then again, that's the only way we learn especially when it is put across to us in a nice step-by-step with example manner.

Thanx everyone...

No such thing as bad or good really but how you handle it. You have chosen your birth etc. Your planets being in the top sector of the public life your main influences deal with the outer world. Remember every house has a ruler and that planet has aspects. Your major focus will be public life rather than a private one. No one will have the same emptiness as you unless they are your twin. Astrology is vastly complex and we need to look at each planet and the aspects made to get a picture.

although I sometimes use Chiron I wouldnt bother with asteroids especially as you are just learning. Concentrate on the major planets and the major aspects. Forget all minor aspects and fixed stars and asteroids. I never use them and I have been in practice for 25 years. Later on you can investigate these for yourself but stick to the basics until you are practised and experienced, is my advice. It is vastly confusing to do anything else and really not valid mostly.
