Hi! I’m new here. My name is Elizabeth and my business name is Chrysopoeia Astrology. I’m a professional astrologer and have studied under the mentorship of a world renowned master professional astrologer/Jungian psychologist since I was 14. I studied psychology in college also though I chose not to become a licensed therapist like she is. I’ve used astrology as a tool throughout my entire life to gain insight, self-awareness, & much more since I was a young teen. I take a Jungian approach & enjoy helping other people clarify & enhance their understanding of themselves too. I’m a member of NCGR, AFAN, ISAR, OPA, AYA, TAA, & IAEA.*I chose the business name “Chrysopoeia”, from the ancient Greek χρυσοποιία or khrusopoiia, because it refers to the alchemical process of transforming raw base materials into gold. The alchemical process is often used as a metaphor for self-actualization and personal growth in Jungian psychology and I believe it applies just as much to astrology.*

I’m happy to have found this online community of people who share my passion for astrology!

Elizabeth

Thank you for asking, Samantha. My process depends highly on the individual client, and I am partially through a MA but had to put it on hold when I almost died in 2017 and had to have 14 surgeries unexpectedly. Recovery was long and brutal but I’m okay now and intend to continue pursuing more education and certification in both psychology and astrology. For me, learning is a lifelong process of continual growth and development that I’m passionate about and dedicated to.

Do you have any basic themes that you develop with clients within your Jungian Process?

Do you have university credentials in Jungian analysis, or in some other branch of professional psychology, beyond the bachelor’s level?

Do you have a copy of Liz Greene’s The Astrological World of Jung’s 'Liber Novus': Daimons, Gods, and the Planetary Journey?

I would like to buy it but at $46 on Amazon, its too steep without knowing what Liz has actually shared.

Another really good source of Jungian psychological astrology is Karen Hamaker-Zontag's Psychological Astrology: A Synthesis of Jungian Psychology and Astrology. Very good and only about $18 available on Amazon.

I do, and if you're a big fan of both I recommend it! I made a PDF of a portion (file sizes are limited here) of Amazon Kindle's free excerpt for you and will attempt to attach it. The Kindle version is about $10 less if that's an option.

(Not ignoring your earlier questions - they're so good and interest me so much that I want to have adequate time to respond! My fiancé works for the company that owns MBTI and I have a lot to say, but am extremely busy between my astrology business, another business I solely own and operate, wedding planning, and a historic home renovation that my off-duty internet time is limited!)

This is indeed a superb book too and I also recommend it. I have a whole page on my website devoted to free astrology book recs and there's a large psychological astrology section. This is in it, as are many of Liz Greene's.

I'm in amazement that without Jung, the Age of Aquarius concept would not have gained the respectability among astrologers that it has. And, that he risked his entire professional reputation to promote astrology itself.

Thank you for that. However, Greene’s PhD in history probably has her fascinated with Jung’s life in regard to his involvement with astrology. I am less enamored and am much more focused on finding characteristics of the hidden astrology energy field which I can use to assist my clients. This book, while interesting from an historical perspective, is not terribly interesting to me.

----
As to your comment: “...For me, learning is a lifelong process of continual growth and development that I’m passionate about and dedicated to.....” It a typical focused comment of the 30-40 something person. I had it too----then. Once you reach your mid 70’s your feeling of the life long thing morfs in a way that you will not imagine(I couldn’t).

I think you may find Karen Hamaker-Zontag's Psychological Astrology: A Synthesis of Jungian Psychology and Astrology very practical, especially as it relates to energies and expressions of the 6th-12th, 2nd-8th house axes.

I wonder now if the OP was really what she said she was, or whether she just purchased a copy of Alois/Liz Greene’s program on Astro.com, called herself a Jungian Astrologer, and came here to advertise.

She never answered my questions and never came back.

Always possible.

Alternately, sometimes people step away from the forum into other parts of their life and then return. This might be the case given her reported health history. OP has not yet been gone two weeks since her last post. We shall see.

Speaking of Jung, Chiron as the "wounded healer" appears to have been another one of his contributions to today's astrology. His work lives on.

"Synchronicity", "Collective Unconscious", and "Archetype", which he either coined or promoted, have also become part of the astrological lexicon.

All,

This introduction thread is beginning to go outside the bounds of an introduction so I'm closing this thread. If you want to discuss the Jungian influence on astrological study, please do so on the Psychology and Astrology Forum.

Closing Down,

Tim
