I have this software (Babylonian Astrology) and definitely do NOT recommend it for beginners, or as a software for general use.
One might consider Horoscope, put out by the Church of Light. It does all the basics, and also includes delineations, extensive progression calculations, and astrodynes. It's also fairly inexpensive.

So I absolutely respect your right (privilege?) on this forum to express strong astrological views, so long as they do not devolve into personal attacks, off-topic posts, or anything else that is not allowed on this Forum.

Member Samantha Bean never used, as far as I know, and never advocated, either the Horoscope software or the literature of the Church of Light, written by Elbert Benjamine (ne C. C. Zain).
I do know that that member had extensive personal contact with a number of world-famous, published astrological writers, and many years experience as a consulting professional astrologer.
A great many members of this forum have come and gone over the years. Very few have had the credentials the member known as Samantha Bean has.
But I'm sure the OP did not join the forum to engage in gossip about personalities.

For the record, John Halloran, a developer and vendor of several astrological software products (including AstroDeluxe, Placidus and Babylonian Astrology), does not have, and never has had, any connection with the Horoscope software product, or the Church of Light. There is no connection.

I used SolarFire for many years and think it is an excellent astrology software. It operates on a PC platform.
[A Mac can also be adapted to run SolarFire but it takes a bit of skill and knowledge. The makers of SolarFire write: "We do not officially support Solar Fire on the Mac, but we have many customers who do successfully use Solar Fire on a Mac equipped with an Intel chip, Windows, and a Windows emulation program like Boot Camp, Parallels, Virtual PC or VirtualBox. Besides doing emulation, these virtualization or "bridge" programs isolate the Windows environment from the Mac environment so viruses can't jump from one side to the other."]

each astrologer has their personal preference
all have their pros & cons
DELPHIC ORACLE by Zoidsoft is also excellent astrological software

Thanks! SolarFire seems to be well established, very nice.

I have been learning about Astrology for a few years (mostly western) and it is so fascinating, but I am also a coder so I want to try to code something myself to look at my daily chart in the most simple way. It's a hobby and I learn as I go about astrology.
