I also have Mars Conjunct Jupiter in the 4th house. According to what I read Mars conjoin Jupiter is supposed to be about fighting for a cause or for your beliefs (or against a cause or someone else's beliefs). That is this aspect is best described by the words "crusade" with both the positive and negative connotations. My Mars conjoin Jupiter is trine Venus which softens it somewhat. God knows what the Mars/Jupiter trine Chiron means though as I've never understood Chiron...

I'm still not sure what the 4th house placement means though. Maybe that your "fighting" will be for more local causes centred around the home? That you may feel more "free" to express your fighting spirit in the home?

I have found these 2 planets denote success for some reason.

I have them squared, but in many rich peoples charts they seem to have a way of making fortunes.

It might mean that your fortunate in your home life and could perhaps make money through real estate or through a home based service.

remmeber also that the 4th has to do with the parental axis. It is always worth noteing that what happens in the 4th will also have a bearing on the 10th.

A few yrs. back I loooked at ones SP chart and noted that they would have much responsibility coming. It was the 1st that was being activated, but the responsibility came through the 7th as this person became entangled in a relationship which produced a few kids. Therefore always remember to look at the opposite houses also especially when the angles are activated.

One more thing worth thinking about is the sign that the energies are being used through. Virgo you will need to research to see how Ma\Ju work in that sign. Service is amongst the greater qualities that it is known for.Pisces is also the reflection of that.

Like I mentioned Ju\Ma conj. so many times I have seen the ability to amass fortunes or be well off financially. The exception to this in hard aspect is Howard Hughes who had them square. I have them square myself and it is the hardest aspect I have in my chart I think to deal with having them highlighted 7th-10th at AP's.

Hello,
I have these two planets conjunct Venus in the sixth house, and in the sign Cancer. Seems it would join the virtues of expansiveness, (Jupiter) or eagerness, and raw energy (Mars). Yes, many famous people have the aspect. John F Kennedy for one. I would not consider it that favorable in some houses like my sixth house placement. Aggressive at work, overworking, and overstraining of the health and nerves. My Mercury placed there too doesn't help in that nervous tension department LOL. I never had an employer that disliked my work ethic and enthusiasm towards it. But I have had opponents to progress from fellow employees whom I saw as people neither eager nor enthusiastic, and hindered my progress. I have the Sun, Uranus, and Pluto in the seventh house of course I have had open enemies. Jobs where others would literally balk facing the same duty. In my own case exalted Jupiter in Cancer is at odds with the detrimental position of Mars in Cancer. It's claimed that Mars so placed mellows the aggression of Mars. Makes it more passive aggressive probably. Jupiter's luck I have experienced, seldom having problems attaining employment. Having the health for the job was eventually a different story LOL. My Progressed Mars was very close to the the midpoint of my natal Sun and my Jupiter/Mars conjunction the day I enlisted in the military. Additionally, Mars was in Aries at the time.
Take care
Franklin

It's funny that I should find this thread. I was just checking a chart of a friend a little while ago who has Mars/Jupiter conjunct in Aquarius/8th. So,
I had been reading up on the subject.

It is generally considered to be a very fortunate aspect - as per the book I'm reading from:

Energy and enthusaiasm combine to produce ambition, wealth and luck. You are liberal, self-confident and good at making decisions. Open, frank and generous, you tend to accumulate material possessions. This aspect often indicates a love of sports and the possibility of gain through a military career. Your restlessness and fearlessness enable you to take on any and all adversaries. It is easy for you to propel yourself into the limelight. If you drive yourself too hard, your biggest problem may be physical exhaustion.

I'm sure, like all aspects, it can have some negative qualites, as well, depnding on the placements and other aspects to the conjunction. The one that seems most glaringly apparent to me is the possiblity of over-doing whatever the aspects represents. The Jupiter would expand the natural drive of the Mars. For example, Mars conjunct Jupiter in Aries could show a successful entrepeneur or a person with an excessive uncontrollable temper and warlike tendency.

To Pixiequix:

Addressing your specific Mars/Jupiter conjunction in Virgo in the 4th..... it could possibly represent growing up with a "slavedriver" or overcritical parent, resulting in a tendency to overwork oneself. Other possibilities, considering it is Virgo, is overanalysis or excessive neatness/cleanliness. These are all possiblities of the childhood conditioning (4th house) one could have been raised with.

I know of a case where a woman was raised by a mother whose home was so clean it squeaked. :p Everything was neat and clean and in its perfect place all the time - and there was no clutter allowed whatsoever. This woman is in her 40's now, and she lives in the exact opposite of the way she was raised. You cannot walk through her home for all the clutter. There is trash and dog feces all over the floor. There is slime all over the sinks, tubs, etc. I have never seen such filth and clutter in someone's home.

This is an extreme case, for sure. But it does illustrate ( in a Mars/Jupiter type of illustration :p) how the passive/aggressive tendencies in Pisces, being the polarity of Virgo, can manifest.

Another thought to take under consideration is that, being in the 4th house, it could do with "soul memory" from a past life. So there is a possibility you have a soul memory of being a slaveowner with many slaves (or a slave yourself - overworked all the time) or simply a big business owner with lots of employees.

I'm always good for an alternative viewpoint. :D

If Mars conjoin Jupiter helps with success - well when you think about the two planets, Mars denotes drive, ambition and competitiveness. Jupiter denotes luck, self-belief, optimism and the ability to see the big picture. But the two together and you probably have a good foundation for success.

As mentioned previously I have Mars conjunct Jupiter in Virgo in the 4th house too. I think Virgo is a bit of a difficult placement for both Jupiter and Mars. Jupiter is about big things, the big picture. Virgo is about small details. Jupiter is about optimism, Virgo is about criticism, esp. self-criticism. Jupiter is plenty, Virgo is about restraint. Jupiter is loud and boisterous, Virgo is not. Virgo also restrains Mars. I think in order to use Mars/Jupiter in Virgo well you need to work all these things through - how to meld small details with the big picture. Optimism with self-criticism. An example of a possible bad way is if you go overboard on the small details and self-criticism. However if you succeed Virgo I think might not be too bad an influence as it acts to tamp down the excesses of Mars/Jupiter.

In the 4th house I guess this means this plays out in the 4th house most. I guess this means for example that your greatest success may be near your home or in your homeland - where you originate from. The 4th house is about where you come from, the things which lay the foundation of your being. Another possibility is that the true nature of the Mars/Jupiter influence is hidden and only seen by your family, and is not visible to outsiders so much. For example your family may know you as extremely ambitious and with great optimism, a very driven person but the image your project to the public (10th house) could not show this. This is because the 4th house is at the very nadir of the chart and represents your inner self. I think it will also mean that your home circumstances will be both fortunate and energetic. If you look at the individual readings for Jupiter and Mars in the 4th house. The 4th house also denotes the end of life.

I guess also this influence should be seen in the houses that Mars and Jupiter rule. So in my chart, Mars rules the 12th house and Jupiter rules the 7th and 8th. So I expect that some elements of Mars/Jupiter will help drive the matters of the 12th house and the 7th and 8th.

I don't know what aspects will do to the interpretation though. In my chart Mars and Jupiter trine Venus (in the 8th) and Chiron (in the 12th). Mars/Jupiter are also square the Sun (in the 7th).

Some readings I found on the internet:

http://www.astrologyweekly.com/astrological-aspects/jupiter-conjunct-mars.php

With the conjunction of Mars and Jupiter, you have an abundance of energy and enthusiasm to take on tasks that would frighten all but the most courageous. In order to get what you want, you assert yourself fearlessly, even in the face of danger. You have a rather reckless faith in your ability to tempt fate and take chances, never doubting that you will succeed. What you lack in finesse you make up for in arrogance. You rise to a challenge at the slightest provocation, and your competitors have cause for alarm when you oppose them. You enjoy direct confrontation with your adversaries, and you revel in the accompanying glory and publicity. Fascinated by the entries found in the Guinness Book of Records, you would be pleased to find your name listed under some accomplishment there.

With your flair for the dramatic, you don't do anything in moderation. Not content to simply win over a competitor, you punctuate the victory with some kind of ritualistic, publicity-seeking display. You know how to achieve recognition by drawing the public's attention to your talents.

There are many ways you can use this very forceful, dynamic aspects. You have an exciting combination of physical stamina and intellectual resources. Because you don't believe in failure, your chances for success are improved. If you express your creative abilities physically, you will apply your intellecutal skill and common sense to obtain the best results from your efforts. Should you follow a more intellectually demanding life pursuit, it will be characterized by an incredible degree of physical endurance and competitiveness. Such fields as sports, exploration, law, government, acting, composing, or writing would provide you with vast opportunities to display your talents and demonstrate what you can do.

Your most persistent liability is your lack of moderation, which can cause physical exhasution. Your driving ambition to rise above the challenges you set your yourself can cause deterioration of your physical resources. It is essential that you take periodic rest or vacations from the constant abrasion of close competition.

Harmonious Mars/Jupiter aspects are a marker of worldly comfort and financial success. The conjunction indicates a person who is energetic, resourceful, frank, outspoken, pioneering, and adventurous. There is often executive ability and an entrepreneurial attitude toward business ventures. You stand up for your beliefs and would be a formidable opponent in any kind of battle or competition. The energy of Mars combines with the expansiveness of Jupiter to increase your enthusiasm, liveliness, and optimism. You probably enjoy travel, flying, the outdoors, competitive sports, vigorous exercise, and other Jupiter-ruled pursuits. Often there is an interest in philosophical, legal, religious, scientific, or political matters.

You enjoy learning about something and then spreading the word to others. This can lead to success in broadcasting, teaching, the travel industry, promoting, propaganda, publicity, advertising, or Internet related businesses. You like to display your talent before others. There may also be talent for Mars-ruled occupations that require courage, energy and risk-taking (e.g., police, military, etc.), or that involve the use of fire, explosives, weapons, or instruments that penetrate the body (e.g., surgery, acupuncture, etc.). If this conjunction forms stressful aspects, there may be problems with impulsive or addictive behavior. -- Interpretation from our Career report.

Alternate, short interpretations: *You have a positive, "can-do" attitude and tackle life's challenges with relish. You are self-confident and have a strong will to succeed, to see how much you can do and how far you can go. No matter what you accomplish, you do not rest on your laurels. You want to keep on going, to do even bigger things. You are forward-looking, enterprising, and enthusiastic about new projects. You are not happy in situations that do not offer you challenges and the potential for growth and expansion in the future - no matter how secure or satisfactory they may be in other respects. You enjoy competition, but you compete mostly with yourself, to see how much of your vision and potential you can really achieve. You make a good leader, inspiring courage and confidence in others. You usually enjoy good health and high vitality.

#You find that most beginnings and endings in your life are fortunate, and you are able to extract the spiritual lessons successfully. Occasionally you rebel and run away from a lesson that could have been very informative.

Mars square Jupiter:

http://www.cafeastrology.com/natal/marsjupiteraspects.html

Mars square Jupiter
This is a difficult aspect in any chart, although it does have its brighter side. Although you are impatient, scattered and prone to domestic and professional squabbles, you are also energetic, ready and able to meet the challenges you encounter.

Although you have the energy and guts to tackle the obstacles life hands you, you must cultivate self-discipline if you are going to succeed in your endeavors. Otherwise you will "spread yourself too thin" and scatter your energies wastefully. Although you admire others who are successful, you must be willing to put out the sustained effort required to achieve your goals.

Your greatest impediment to success is your impatience. If a project doesn't "pan out" right away, you drop it and go on to something else which offers more immediate results. This aspect will improve as you age, and you will eventually learn to have faith in yourself--which in turn will help you cultivate persistence and self-discipline.

Learn to set priorities and stick to them. And channel all of your energies into one major project rather than scattering your efforts to the four corners of the earth. You should carefully husband your resources, especially your own time and energy, and plan your actions more carefully.

In a career you could excel in law, government, acting, media, public speaking, writing, teaching or even sports. Don't be discouraged by the setbacks you encounter on your road to success. You will eventually see that you can learn more from your failures than your successes. Get up, brush yourself off, and keep on going.

In your intimate relationships you will probably encounter much tension and adversity. You may sometimes find it difficult to deal closely with others and may even encounter problems with co-workers or employers. This is partly because you can't take criticism gracefully, and you are prone to complaining about your misfortunes.

Traditionally, this aspect indicates that you are accident prone. In truth, you are likely to disregard safety practices and therefore set yourself up for injury. Try not to be so impulsive. Also, be careful not to overindulge in anything (work or play). Get lots of rest and watch your health. -- Interpretation from Your Personal Path report.

On an interesting note, CEO Carter says that Mars and Jupiter lends to success as well:

http://www.digthatcrazyfarout.com/carter/Carter_Jupiter.htm

Mars/Jupiter contacts are the sign of the enthusiast if not
the fanatic. There is little more one need say, except to point
out that the enthusiasm is usually for some Jovian object such
as travel, religion, or the stage.

And it seems a rather prosperous factor, those having it
either being well off, or at least well connected, though of
course some poor people must be born when it is operative.

The major afflictions between these two are certainly very
dangerous, Excess appears in many forms. The native who has
this temptation indicated in his chart should study and pursue
the virtues of "The Middle Way."

I'm currently exploring my Mars/Jupiter conjunction and these posts have been very helpful! Here is my stuff:

Mars conjunct Jupiter in Virgo
square
Moon conjunct Mercury in Sagittarius

I've had no success to speak of so I can't confirm that theory. I've been broke since I decided to break free from expectations and pursue what my fifth house demands.

Maybe the lack of success is due to the square to my moon/merc conjunction, or because Saturn and the NN are sitting right there by my Mars/Jupiter conjunction.

I definitely have drive for everything I'm enthusiastic about. I'm a crusader when it comes to right and wrong. Sadly I also have no drive at all when I'm not enthusiastic about something.

Additionally, if I don't think that the outcome of a plan can reach perfection then I don't risk wasting my time putting it into action - I don't like to invite failure - and instead keep looking for something 'more suitable for me'. This results in an endless search (where this Sag feels quite comfortable) and inaction (which increases the anxiety and obsessive thought patterns).

I really enjoyed reading this thread. My Mars/Jupiter conjunction is the bringer of much action and overwork in the 6th house. I work myself into exhaustion and have periods of great activity and because of overdoing it, periods of great inactivity as I have to rest and restore myself. Trying to practise the 'middle way' and practising temperance have helped a lot but it is still difficult to let go of the compulsion to forge ahead with goals and aspirations. I have to really force myself to calm down.

It all depends. No one aspect guarantees anything. Remember, it's up to you to make things happen.
One thing I read, which, unfortunately, I find is true for most if not all women I've met, is that women tend to repress their "animus", so to speak, their "masculine side", which often gets projected onto the men in their lives, the type of men they're attracted to.
The only woman I know who does not seem to repress her Mars and Jun is my sister, and even she took one nasty divorce and a few years of reading on Freud and Jung's books before she decided to embrace her ENTIRE personality, not just the feminine, socially acceptable parts. She's not into astrology, by the way, so probably wouldn't know anything about what I'm writing here..lol.
Anyway, she has Mars in Gemini sextile Jupiter in Aries, Mars trine Sun in Aquarius. In fact, a grand trine between Mars, Sun, and Pluto. She is a self-confessed workaholic and very ambitious. She earns a lot of money, more than anyone in our family ever did, but she is employed, not a business person. She has a high-precision intellectual job(software engineering) and has received the title of "IT expert" sometime around her 30th birthday.

With Moon, Venus and Mercury in Cap, she was always down-to-earth and hard-working, but I think it wasn't until after her divorce, at age 26, that she really started to act like a "full person", so to speak, before that she made the mistake, like most women do, of hiding their assertiveness and ambitions, because they don't match society's demands on what makes a woman "attractive".
I find most women only fully embrace themselves as individuals after they've gone through a major disappointment in love, after which they probably get to that point where they're like "ok, men suck, I'm obviously never going to get the fairy tale romance thing, so I might as well make the most of what I have, and enjoy myself."

Personally, I have the Mars-Jupiter tightly conjunct in first degree Gemini. Unfortunately(but maybe equally fortunately..) it's also tightly conjunct Moon in last degree Taurus. I say unfortunately, because it puts Mars's fire and gutsyness and anger together with Jupiter's optimist, expansiveness, and the Moon's primitive, instinctive femininity in a blender and turns it into a very hot, boiling, spicy soup of primitive, conflicting, equally powerful urges.
It gives lots of willpower, but unfortunately, a lot of visceral energy that I find doesn't even show(most people will probably describe me with words like "quiet, peaceful", which is true..because I've spent like 70% of my energy and time just keeping my emotions caged, to prevent myself from acting like a spoiled brat/caged animal.).
Plus I have an aspect which I only recently discovered it not at all "negligible", like most astrologers would have you believe. The sesquiquadrate from Saturn to my Moon-Mars-Jupiter stellium.
Saturn is famously, a kill-joy. Ever since I started reading on astrology, almost 9 years ago, I was always so surprised to read descriptions for my Jupiter conjunctions, which were supposed to make me "hyperactive, over-confident, ambitious and destined to be successful". Right, except I always felt extremely insecure and self-loathing.

It wasn't until I read in this one book, pretty sure it was by Liz Greene that the sesquiquadrate also rates as a "hard aspect" and gives similar energies to the square and semi-square.
I read the description for Moon-Saturn hard aspects and felt it was the missing piece to the puzzle. I actually felt the Saturn influence much stronger than the Jupiter influence.

Here's another thing, though-the conjunction is basically a stressful aspect. Unlike the trine or sextile, Mars-Jupiter conjunctions are bound to bring too much energy for most people to handle, regardless of the sign it's in.
