Marquis de Sade?

Draco, this is a cheeky one!!! I have a feeling that it is the same person and that you gave us one birthchart and one progressed chart. If not, than this is really a very difficult one. I would tip on the second one as being the marquis with Uranus rising (unpredictabe personality) opposed to his ruler Saturn (bit wide orb maybe). His Moon in the 8th in Virgo squaring his Sun and Jupiter in the 5th could show an exagerated need to express his nasty feelings caused by deep (sexual ?) frustration?(Moon expression very critical towards others) Clearly a male-female îssue here. His Venus conjunct Saturn and the node in cancer showing problems with expressing feelings towards others, partners and the ruler Moon in 8 and the square from Mars to Venus, another disfunctional Male-female combi. Possibly had problems with his mother, ruler 4 = Venus.
The basic difference between the charts is the house placement of the planets involved and I tip on the 5-8 and 3-7 connections. Somehow the 6-9 and the 8-10 connection shows more work issues then interpersonal relationship problems.
I could be totally wrong and am looking forward to other answers. Good one Draco! This is how we can learn. (I wished I knew more about him, never read anything and have no idea about his background).

No, it isn't a progressed chart, it's a chart for the same day but set at two different times, I'm wondering which people feel is the best reflection of this person.

Have a look at the Moon, and see what it's doing, and tell me what you think.

I wished I knew more about him, never read anything and have no idea about his background

I gave a link to a wiki article with a general lowdown about his life.

I hadn't read any of his work before looking into this, and then I found '120 Days of Sodom' available to read online, and I did originally provide a link to the text, but upon reading into it, and not even getting very far into it, finding it to be so very much more shocking than I had expected, and even then I expected it to be extreme, I decided to remove the link. It really is extreme stuff, and most certainly not for the easily offended, but it does give you an insight into the mind of the man, or should I say monster, that we are dealing with.

I got rid of the link because I didn't want to unwittingly lead anyone to perhaps the most offensive thing they'll have ever read in their life.

I thought it couldn't be as bad as it's made out and would probably be quite amusing but it was anything but.

If you want a look you'll find it online, but be warned. I won't provide a link though, I daren't.

Tough question, on first glance I would go for the 1st chart because of the Military career and Mars/Aries/6th. Also in a quote he made on your link he said Lusts passion will be served. This fits this placement.

Ruler of M.C Sun is in Gemini in 8th career involving writing sexual material with a Conjunction of Jupiter to the Sun enhancing this placement.

Neptune in the 8th for sexual fantasies/addiction

Chart Ruler Pluto in 12th Conjunct Asc for physical confinement perhaps.

I read he put a lot of weight on which is probably shown by the Sun/Jupiter but which house fits this placement better I am not too sure.

Saturn in the 9th - Lessons and tests around issues of tests and morality. Areas of trial higher education beliefs and the law.

Moon in Virgo 10th - publicly known for his writing square to Jupiter/Sun Gemini sexual writings/pornography which is ruled by Scorpio. Makes this placement a lot stronger. But the 2nd chart has a Scorpio M.C Pluto conjunct M.C and Mars in 3rd.

Really tough one but possibly because of the imprisonment and military career I will go for the 1st chart, but still unsure whether this is correct or not. The second chart also shows strong matches for the sexual writings.

Yes, both charts do look suspect when it comes to being involved in sexual perversion, but I still think it is the one with the Moon in the 8th. They always say that where you find the Moon, it is where you are most "at home", so in his case I would say in the 8th house of sex, death and regeneration. The Moon in 10 is not sexual enough for me, it is more asking for public attention (and he probably wanted that also) but the emotional drive is in the 8th. But like Shiny, I am not 100% sure. Very curious to know who it is. Tomorrow I will be gone most of the day so I guess I will see answers late afternoon. Can't wait! ;)

I would pick the first chart. The moon is in the 10th. He went to great efforts to get his woks published to the general public. He had his work smuggled out of the hospital/prison that he was confined to. He needed to be in the limelight causing a sensation which I would relate to his moon in the 10th and his uranus conjuncting his N.N in the 2nd. With his virgo moon in the 10th he made his emotional needs of purification through humiliation very public. His mars is in 6th house with pluto in the 12th. I suspect his pluto placement represents his confinement. The virgo/pisces/6th/12th house polarity is supposed to represent sadomasochism, though I believe De Sade was more of a sadist. I also make a connection with mars in the 6th to anal sex, which I think he had a great fondness for. Mars in the 6th is another indication of the tendecy to purify the self through humiliation. Sun in Gem in the 8th would give him the ability to verbalise his sexual tendecies. The Gemini and aries in him would enjoy shocking people with his ideas. Saturn and venus are in the 9th house of writers. Saturn's placement can potentially show our career. Ruler of MC in 8th puts a career focus on 8th house issues. His moon nodal axis falls in 2nd/8th house. Nodal axis in the 2nd and 8th can cause a person to have a focus around control and dominance in regards to sex. L.

I occured to me while I was in the shower that his uranus/N.N. conjuction was in capricorn indicating that he would rebel against authority, which he did plenty of. I also think that there was more to his 12th house pluto placement. I know that saturn in the 12th relates to politics from the evolutionary point of view. Politicians are supposed to be the servant of the masses with the power of helping the public. I keep thinking about this in terms of pluto in the 12th, but there is something I want to say about his pluto, but I don't know what it is. I know that 12th house plutos can become icons and publish lasting pieces of work, but I still feel like there is something more to his 12th house. He has a nice trine between his pluto in the 12th of scorpio and his venus in the 9th of cancer. Perhaps this eased his way into writing. I feel like he served humanity in some way with his pluto placement. Perhaps he helped a lot of people find sexual liberation by knowing that they could be as dirty as they wanted to be. If you think you are the only one walking around with certain urges or that it is wrong to feel the way you do, it can tear at you and make you more deviant. Think of the closeted homosexual who trys to beat and harass every gay man he sees. Perhaps he made certain things less taboo too. It's been a long time since I looked at his stuff, but if I remember right there was violence in them too. Women would get sliced with knives and what not. Maybe he expressed the dark side of the collective psyche through his writings. Whooo. I think that was the idea that was trying to find voice in my head. He gave voice to our dark side. L.

Yes Jag, the first chart is obviously more suspect than the first and that is why I thought: Wait a minute, this is too easy, let's have a longer look at those charts. And Pluto conjunct MC is pretty powerful I think and shows a person who absolutely needs to be noticed or just simply, him being publically known as a very dominant, sexually interested person who had a great emotional need to write about his experiences (ruler of the 8th, Mars, in the 3rd). The trine to the co-ruler of his Ascendant (Uranus) shows easily expressed brutal behavior. He treads on the susceptibilities of others (Pluto trine Uranus) furthermore, the Moon is intercepted in the 8th and can therefore provoque far stronger (frustrated) feelings and anger.Feelings of rejections are intensified here. His 12th house is ruled by Saggitarius and Jupiter conjunct Sun Gemini in 5, (in confinement expressing himself in a literary fashion). With the ruler of the 5th in the 4th, he needed to express himself in a home environmnent (the castle). Jupiter (12th house ruler of hidden things) in square to the Moon in 8 (sexual feelings) found expression (Sun) at home=castle, in the company of friends (Jupiter again, ruler of 11th).
I still think it could be chart numero duo.

Yes, he really is a Scorpio if ever there was one. You wonder how on earth anyone can become that vile and sick. That's why I am really curious to know which one is his chart so we can figure out (if anyone can???) why he developed this terrible perversion. Draco is really keeping us in suspense!
