Looking at the Satelitte photos it seems that this was no "...accident..."
8 aircraft each in individual bunkers completely destroyed yet others
some in between the destroyed aircraft were completely untouched
and no ground damage, no craters around the aircraft, no blast marks
no building damage. The only way that this could happen would be
for some individual (or maybe two) to go from aircraft to aircraft planting explosives
these explosives may then have ignited weapons on the aircraft if they were armed

This would also explain the reluctance of the Ukraine authorities to claim public responsibility
in an effort to protect the saboteurs who may now attempting to escape
unless it was carried out by special forces from a NATO country
Even if by some miracle
the Ukros would be able to take out one Russian airbase
that is not even a mosquito sting for the Russian army.

Using human shields.

Ukraine literally shells a nuclear power plant
and the West demands that Ukraine should be given the keys to that plant..
Blackmailing the world by threatening a nuclear power plant
There is no word to describe these depraved people
The bombing of the Zaporozhye power plant shows
that the evilness of the collective west is beyond comprehension
It appears to be the best answer as to why Ukraine and the US are shelling a nuke plant.
Worth noting that both sides have an incentive to hype up the risks at Zaporozhye
the Russian to get them to stop shelling
and the Ukrainians to try and force this DMZ plan.

In reality the risks are still very low.
Some sort of wider catastrophe with the safety systems and containment domes in place
is near impossible, and even in that case the effects would be far more limited than people imagine.
The much greater risk is
that some expensive damage is caused
and the region is left short of electricity when it needs it most.

"...Demilitarized zone..." an agreement like the Minsk accords.
Russia would have to have been inflicted with absolute stupidity overnight to allow this
Russia has been burned by many such tricks before, like the Minsk Accords.
They are well aware that the US, let alone the Ukrainians
are '...non-agreement capable...'
and I'm confident they won't enter into agreements that give any western countries
through whatever proxies, any say in the conflict.
The correct response is for Russia to make it clear
that if these attacks on the power plant result in a nuclear release,
they will nuke the area from which the attack originated
and take take down all US satellites that can provide targeting information for such attacks.
The Russians need to show that they are ready for nuclear war
and the US/Ukraine is ALREADY conducting a nuclear war against them with these strikes
the Russians will see through it, say '...no...' and move on.
They would take steps to protect the plant by enhancing the air defences around the plant.
They may also seek to destroy the artillery shelling the plant
by use of Spetznaz and counter battery fire.
