Grand cross, a wedge and a T-cross, thoughts?

Hey everyone,

This is the chart of a very good friend of mine. He's 26 years old, his father abused him emotionally and physically until he was 12 years old, he lost two of his closest friends to suicide, his family has no money and he's trying very hard to make it in school with a full time job.

This is the first grand cross I've ever seen, and topped with a t-cross...
Not to mention it includes his Sun and Moon!

Grand cross: Mars, Jupiter (conjunction ) - Moon - Sun - Uranus

T- Cross: Neptune - Saturn - Mercury

Anyway, I wanted to know what you think about this chart, it's very important to me and I've never dealt with a grand cross before...

Rubella,

I do not believe your friend's natal chart contains a Grand Cross, as his Gemini Moon opposes his Scorpio Uranus by neither orb nor sign association. However, as you mentioned, there are several challenging T-squares:

  • Tenth house Mars-Jupiter conjunction in Virgo opposite fourth house Sun in Pisces, both square eighth house Moon in Gemini
  • Tenth house Mars-Jupiter conjunction in Virgo opposite fourth house Sun in Pisces, both square first house Uranus in Scorpio
  • Eleventh house Saturn-Lillith conjunciton in Virgo opposite fifth house Mercury in Pisces, both square second house Neptune in Sagittarius.

EDIT: I have posted the sabian symbols of the apex planet(s) of each T-square, as well as their opposite points--a technique I learned from the forums ;)

Moon (8 Gemini):

68__(8°)
AROUND A CLOSED-DOWN FACTORY STRIKERS MILL DEFIANTLY A stirring of the collective, unconscious factors of being toward the repolarization of the conscious ego. Idle protest.

___*When positive, the degree is undeviating self-assertiveness and a refusal to accept any lesser in lieu of a greater, and when negative, a dissatisfaction which surrenders rather than regrasps the self's potential.

Opposite Point (8 Sagittarius):

248__(8°)
IN THE CAULDRON OF THE UNIVERSE THE METALS ARE FORMING Irresistible determination to be. Infinite capacity for hard work. Crystallization of purpose and will out of experience.

___*When positive, the degree is exceptional ability to mold or remold the course of events, and when negative, persisting inner confusion.

Uranus (26 Scorpio):

236__(26°)
SWIFTLY, INDIANS ERECT THEIR TEEPEES, CAMP IS BEING MADE Ability to feel at home in any outer or inner environment. Efficient functioning. Retreating into the familiar and the known.

___*When positive, the degree is unusual resourcefulness and a gift for finding real opportunity in the least promising of situations, and when negative, unambitious acceptance of things as they are.

Opposite Point (26 Taurus):

56__(26°)
A SPANISH SERENADER AT THE WINDOW-GRILLE OF HIS BELOVED Power of well-defined desire which assures success in all life-contacts. Imaginative power that compels manifestation.

___*When positive, the degree is the continual reassurance by which the will of man coaxes the depths of his soul into his experience, and when negative, futile attempts to control life by empty blandishment.

Neptune (23 Sagittarius):

263__(23°)
IN NEW YORK, ELLIS ISLAND WELCOMES THE IMMIGRANTS New openings that come to all who are willing to risk self for the sake of greater selfhood. Reorientation. Presumption.

___*When positive, the degree is courage in crossing new frontiers and skill in repeating or improving on prior achievement, and when negative, a surrender of the real in a pursuit of the false.

Opposite Point (23 Gemini):

83__(23°)
THREE FLEDGLINGS LOOK OUT PROUDLY FROM THEIR HIGH NEST Conscious self-establishment in the soul and its threefold nature. Innate self-confidence. Superiority of real being.

___*When positive, the degree is an unconditioned creativity exalted to the point of complete freedom from any immediate involvement, and when negative, psychological witlessness and a false sense of release from responsibility.

I am particularly intrigued by his retrograde Mars and direct nodal axis...

Arian Maverick,

You are right, it is not a grand cross... I think all those red lines played tricks on me and I imagined that second oppostion.
So 3 T - crosses it is...

Thank you for the sabian explanations!

"I am particularly intrigued by his retrograde Mars and direct nodal axis..."

Why is that? what's intriguing about them?

Please do not quote me on this, but I believe Mars is one of the planets that least frequently appears to move in retrograde motion from the Earth's perspective; it may only be second to Venus.

As for the nodal axis, it appears to travel in retrograde motion for the vast majority of time; this is even more significant given that the nodal axis had recently entered Leo/Aquarius upon his birth, and the direct motion would appear to drag it backwards (or rather, forwards) towards Virgo/Pisces. Suffice to say that this a very karmic lifetime for your friend...

Here is an interpretation from Canopus for the Saturn-BML (Black Moon Lilith) conjunction, which immediately grabbed my attention:

Saturn-Black Moon conjunction:

Aspects between the Black Moon and Saturn are powerful, in
particular because of the affinity of the two objects (in the
Kabbalah, Lilith is related to the planet Saturn).

The Black Moon's aspiration for perfection and the rigorous,
exacting nature of Saturn reinforce each other. The combination can
result in an extreme need for purity. If Saturn is strong in the
chart, this is an aspect for brown rice and a carefully selected
diet (not one mouthful in excess), and great cleanliness in general.
There is a profound need for inner clarity. This also has to do with
the fact that at times, Saturn can get locked in the shadow side of
the Black Moon. Unless great inner clarity has been achieved, this
may result in phases of gloomy depression.

Watch in particular the periods when the Black Moon transits the
natal Saturn and Black Moon. These are potential times of crisis. If
unprepared, their intensity may take you by surprise. The more you
know yourself and have explored the depth of your unconscious mind,
the more these times of transits are likely to bring realisations
and positive change in your life rather than depression.

On the higher mode, both the Black Moon and Saturn are potentially
very wise. They both have depth and reinforce each other in
intensity. Combined with Saturn's inherent structuring power, the
sharpness of Black Moon can flourish in intelligence and wit. The
result is a N.B.Y. (Not Born Yesterday) person who cannot be fooled
by appearances and knows how to respond to all situations.

Do you see something common with the 3 t-crosses? or are they 3 hard confugurations by themselves? I'm wondering whether they are all tied together for one big thing or not...

I'm afraid that with so many stressful aspects, getting over them, especially with his life circumstances, would be extremely hard, too hard even.

thoughts, to Rubella

Rubella,

Although Maverick is correct that there is only one opposition, not two, in the Grand Cross, I think, since it IS a complete square all the way around, like a Grand Cross, it has a similar effect as a Grand cross. This "Grand Cross" is focused in or near Action houses between the nodes (goals), so there is a push from "all sides" for this person to take action to achieve their goals.

Some other things...North node (future goals) is focused in the 10th house (duty), so there is a need to develop a sense of duty and responsibility and, South node (the past) is focused in the 4th house (home) indicates a need to move beyond the early home life experiences, which hold him back in life. Since there is also an Easy Opposition between the nodes focused on Scorpio (transformation, also control, healing, power), modifying the Ascendant (self), getting control of himself and healing himself will help him develop his power in life.

Powerfully,

Tim
