Career Path

Hello everybody. Please, I'm in a very frustrating situation and I need some help.
Since I finished High School I'm stuck in choosing a career path. I started to study Philosophy, but I cannot like the academic type of work. I'm thinking to undergo some creative field, especially Game Design, because I love video-games since I was little, and is something that I wanted to do when I was a kid. But there is a problem with it. In this field, you have to choose one of the 3 paths to follow: art, programming or game design. Well, I cannot draw or anything, so I have to skip the first path. But I dunno if the programming field is more suited for me, so I cannot decide...I'm pending for the last one, which requires communication and writing skills, since you have to create a digital world on a paper, the history, and all the things related to the game. One big issue is that in my country there are no game scenario of work, so if I go to this path I would have to travel to another country, such as the USA or Canada.
I even thought of Creative Propaganda and Marketing, but the truth is that I'm lost...I need to choose, to settle my life and start to making something of it, but I'm stuck with it...
I really don't know what to decide for myself...So, I'm sorry to leave this problem here and I thank those who help me in this matter.

Here is my natal chart:

1. Planets in the sign of the MC: Saturn
2. Planets making a heliacal phase: Mercury
3. Domicile ruler of MC: Saturn

Mercury-Saturn combinations is usually good for working with structures and creating structures, so game programming will probably be suitable for you. Saturn is very well-placed in this chart (I consider this chart a day chart), and Mercury follows the day sect, is in its own bounds/terms, and is supported by Jupiter and Venus. Programming is quite Saturnine, in addition to be a Mercurial activity, so you will be competent in it.

Even if you ultimately decide not to do computer programming, a Mercurial career will be suitable for you. Not surprisingly, philosophy is Mercurial, but you may have problems financially if it is philosophy.

Additionally, it looks like your family or home is somewhat harmonious, and perhaps have a decent amount of money or property that is worth a lot. Property investment may be a good career, given Jupiter's good position (accidental exaltation lord of 4th and natural significator of inheritances and properties), as well as Saturn's condition (natural lord of lands and properties).

Thank you Larxene for the insights! =)
Today I was thinking about Computer Science, maybe this is an option.
The problem with philosophy is money, yes, but also the type of work that you do in academia.
Well, I can't say that my family is harmonious or have a decent amount of money or a property with high value, hahaha. But I know that I have their support to continue my quest to find a career path more suitable for me. =)

Well, saying that I'm a saturnian and a mercurian person, which kind of career is more suitable? The Uranus and Neptune in conjuction with Saturn, or the ruler of the 2nd house in the 8th have some influence on it?

Notis, the planet Saturn rules the cusp of your 10th house of vocation and career. Saturn is located in the 9th house of activities that expand your mental horizons in some way, be it through overseas travel, developing a life-philosophy, or higher education. So don't overlook philosophy and travel, as your life develops! If you need to travel to pursue a job or more education, then you can always do so on a temporary basis, if you really want to live in Brazil eventually.

So one thing I wondered, was whether you could design games with an educational component to them. Progressive schools in the US are increasingly using interactive computer games and simulations to hold children's interests in science, for example.

I could imagine a philosophy game, where instead of characters shooting each other, the player has a philosophical problem to solve, and depending upon how s/he answers, the game takes the student deeper into a world of ethical choice or exploring life's big questions. I saw on TV an example of a science class, where students were hooked up to large artificial bird wings, with which they could see on a screen how their movements would simulate a bird's flight. (Sort of like airline pilots' flight simulators.)

This sounds more like game design, to me.

Both philosophy and programming are suitable. This is a choice that you should make on your own.

A person's life is made up of events that they have little or no control over, and events that they have to pour conscious effort into in order to manifest into existence. These two aspects of life are embodied by the Lot of Fortune and the Lot of Spirit, respectively. Additionally, when one makes a choice consciously, there are two kinds of consequences that may arise. They are unintended consequences, and intended consequences. Fortune includes the unintended consequences of our own actions, while the intended consequences are the domain of Spirit. For instance, if you choose to study computer programming today, somewhere down the line you may find that you have difficulties finding programming jobs related to gaming. This is an unintended consequence, and it is Fortune.

Astrology takes both fate-like events and free-will-like events into consideration. Often, we find that some topics of life are more fated than free. Examples include one's temperament, bodily strength, the kind of diseases one is born with, and the kind of sickness one endures in old age.

The topic of the 10th place, which is action (and this involves both career and personal interests or hobbies), is the topic which allows the greatest amount of personal choice, in my humble opinion. It is not surprising that the Zodiacal Releasing of Spirit is supposed to show the ups and downs of one's career and professional reputation.

So how does this apply to you? Well, it offers a good reason for you to make your own choice, rather than let luck decide it for you. This is one area of your life where you have greatest control over, so you should exercise that power of choice.

If you insist on asking me to choose for you, I would recommend programming. You will probably not run out of jobs, and you can programme your own games in your free time while also collaborating with other people to create interesting games (because you need other people to do the graphics, soundtracks and sound effects for you). Open source games, mobile games, you name it.

You can also add some philosophical ideas into your games, and that is one way to have the cake and eat it. An example is The World Ends With You. It is about a misanthrope who is stuck in a situation where he has to cooperate with other people to survive. Well, pretty typical, but it's the dialogues they have that is interesting. Like one part where Joshua says that, there is no way to really know the thoughts of another person; they have their own secret world that only they can enter. So he concludes that to understand another person completely, is impossible.

Hello,

I think you have been given great feedback from other astrologers here. Some of the replies are from traditional astrologers therefore they do not typically use the outer planets in their interpretations. I am a modern astrologer so I use all the outer planets in my interpretations. I wanted to add that with Uranus and Neptune conjunct your career ruler Saturn starts and stops with your education is indicated. It's also clear that you do have a creative side however you also have a big need for freedom within your work environment with Uranus the planet of rebellion and unpredictability as part of the stellium. The good news, the depositor Capricorn is hardworking and less unpredictable than some of the other signs but still, I would say it's very important you have a lot of freedom and or variety in whatever occupation you choose. I say the biggest benefit you could give yourself is being skilled in multiple areas so you have diversity in your job skills. This will give you multiple areas to fall back on work wise, something you will appreciate that you have during the course of your life.

Sorry, Vista, but I am a modern astrologer.

Just because I didn't mention the outer planets doesn't mean that I ignored them.

You said you were studying philosophy, this shows at least in your ninth house, the house of the superconcious mind and the deeply engrained religious philosophy of the self. From what i see, you appear to be a person more capable of overseeing the production of games, like if you were to gather together a team of people all specialising in their own fields.

Mercury is the planet that rules electronics and such, thus I think that it being located in the 6th house, the house of self adjustment, your games can take on a self-adjusting aspect. perhaps games that make the player think, apply the lessons learned in-game to real life. having so many planets in the ninth house perhaps philosophy is best applied to your programming rather then an acedemic pursuit, you can raise inward questions within your games that will stay with the player long after they are finished playing. Make them think, and flex that brain of theirs, toy with their minds! a lot is possible! ha!

Strangely, when conciously thinking of mercury i have more success with electronics,

One of the best places for mercury and mars for you, id say is conjunct in the house of self adjustment, and thats where they are :p this means you have two powerful allies near unified that you can tune into to teach yourself exactly what it is your pursuit is, or when you eventually find out, how to make best use of it. These planets can also be used to push and inspire others, yes, leading a team, at least by looking at the chart seems like a good direction.

A one man programmer is possible, but not common, and difficult anyways, ive learned.
