Advance Progressed MC by Phase Angles

One question concerning the use of the progressed chart is how to advance the angles (Midheaven and Ascendant).
See here (thread: Your progressed Midheaven is NOT your progressed Midheaven!)
for discussion on progression of the angles in the Secondary (aka Major) progressed chart, and how RAMS, Solar Arc, Right Ascension arcs and variations on Quotidian methods are used.

In connection with the progressions discussed below, see here (Thread: You are using the WRONG DAY!)
for discussion of what is meant by a day.

This writer’s intuition, based on experience with progressing both natal and return charts, is that during the time period covered by any progressed chart, the entire wheel should rotate a full 360 degrees.

The question then becomes how does one accomplish that end with the various types of progressions available. One method is to use the phase angles of different chart elements, the Sun, Moon and Midheaven, as measures to rotate the chart in a consistent manner. By phase angle is meant simply the distance of longitudinal arc between two points on the ecliptic, especially the Sun and Midheaven, or Moon and Midheaven.

Let’s take each type of progression in order, one by one.

As this thread is intended to discuss the calculation of the Midheaven and Ascendant for progressed charts, please do not post memes, or links to unrelated sites or videos. Please do not Google phase angle and post sites describing Sun-Moon phase angles or phase angles in relation to mathematic formulae or expositions having to do with the term in other scientific applications.

Secondary/Major Progressions (one day = one year)
To progress Quotidian angles for 2ndry/Major charts, apply the natal Sun-Midheaven phase angle to the transiting Sun to Major progressed Midheaven. This is advancing the Midheaven by a transiting solar arc. This advances the Midheaven approximately one degree per day, and the entire chart a full 360 degrees in one year.

Note that this is what the Church of Light’s software program Horoscope-2020 does to calculate angles for the Transit chart.

Solar Returns (one year period)
The above routine used for Major progressions can also be applied to Solar returns. However, in the Solar return chart the Midheaven-Sun phase angle from the return itself must be used. This is also advancing the Midheaven by a transiting solar arc. This rotates the return chart approximately one degree per day, or 360 degrees in a year.

Tertiary Progressions (one day = one lunar month)
To calculate Quotidian angles for Tertiary progressions, apply the natal Moon-Midheaven phase angle to the transiting Moon to Tertiary progressed Midheaven arc. This is advancing the Midheaven by a transiting lunar arc. This rotates the chart approximately one degree every two hours, and the entire chart 360 degrees in one lunar month.

Lunar Returns (one lunar month period)
The methodology used in Tertiary progressions works for the Lunar return also. In the case of the Lunar return, the Midheaven-Moon phase angle from the return itself must be used. This is also advancing the Midheaven by a transiting lunar arc. This rotates the entire Lunar return chart 360 degrees in one lunar month.
I’ve used this method with the Lunar returns with notable success. For an explanation of exactly how to do this see here
It should be noted that the calculation of the progressed Midheaven by Lunar Arc, although it seems rather obvious once posited, required quite a conceptual leap to arrive at.

Minor Progressions (one lunar month = one year)
For Minor progressions, the phase angle of the radical Moon to the radical Midheaven should be applied to the Minor progressed Moon to the Minor progressed Midheaven arc. This is advancing the Midheaven by a progressed lunar arc. This advances the Minor progressed Midheaven approximately one degree per day or 360 degrees in one year.

As the Minor progressed Moon is itself progressed by the radical Sun-Moon phase angle, the calculation given above produces the same angles as in the Major progressed Quotidian Midheaven described in
above.

For an example of this method, see the progressed chart of Sharon Tate at the time of her brutal murder, progressed here

Why do we care about Quotidian progression of the angles, or their equivalents in Tertiary or Return charts?
Because they give us further indications of what DAY astrological influences will manifest in 2ndary/Major progressions or Solar Returns.
With Tertiary progressions or Progressed Lunar Returns, the angles of the progressed charts narrow indications down to within approximately TWO HOURS.
