I agree with you as to the Winter Solstice chart as for the reason it is like that of the New Moon, that is to say, the beginning of a new cycle. As always, JA has given us a wonderful elaboration of traditional mundane astrology rules and has provided us with an excellent Orthodox delineation of the Aries ingress chart for 2022.
I must admit that I have come to prefer rather unorthodox approaches, of a highly eclectic nature, in my approach to the mundane field. I, personally, have come to regard the winter solstice chart, rather than the spring Aries chart, as the key indicator of the trend of events in the forthcoming 12 months. You will notice that the 2021 winter solstice chart presents a dramatically different astrological picture than the Aries ingress chart of 2022, which solstice chart I shall be delineating (from my eclectic perspective) shortly (on another thread)
For beginners, in order to gain experience, they SHOULD FOLLOW the orthodox, and ideally the traditionalist mundane approach so well outlined in JA’s post; but after years of experience and further study, perhaps a few will develop an eclectic perspective, as I have done over the past 50+ years of my involvement with our great Art
Thus that brings up the question pertaining to the Part of Fortune generated at the Winter Solstice and whether it should be thought of in the same application that Dane Rudhyar and Leyla Rael proposed in their book "Astrological Aspects. A Process Oriented Approach" as to that of the New Moon cycle and it's process of evolutionary and involutionary directions. i.e. That the PoF can be the stepping stone that is a quantum leap that retains the evolutionary process and continues it on rather than letting it deconstruct itself in the waning phase?
