Hi everyone.

Edgar Cayce was given the nickname "the sleeping prophet" for his ability to go into a trance-like state and access all sorts of information. He started out giving readings to others on the matter of physical health, curing many of their ailments and far surpassing the knowledge of medicine as being practiced at the time. (first half of the twentieth century.) He then began to branch out and gave many personal and transpesronal spiritual readings, covering a variety of topics from reincarnation, the story of Yeshua, Atlantis, and much more.

He's one of the most underrated prophets of the past century, giving countless specific predictions that have come true, (eg the uncovering of the dead sea scrolls, the stock market crash, the existence of Pluto, etc.) medical advice that was accurate and far ahead of its time, and an array of specific info that connected the lives of many in the epic story of Earth and its inhabitants.

With a story like that, one would expect His birth chart to either expose him as a faker, or to hold the key of his special identity and life story.

So let's take an in depth look. My preffered form of astrology is by use of sabian symbols and arabic parts, so we will be focusing on those things in this thread. The sabian symbols of the chart axis and some of the important parts can give great insight into ones spiritual roadmap.

Edit: Its now been a few months since i initiated this thread. There were a few conflictions concerning the correct birth time which i am hoping has been sorted out. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.. But i ask you all to let the symbols speak for themselves, and look with your true discerning eye at this thread, and the countless others here at the forum. Om Tat Sat Om.

We are going to be using a time of 3:20 pm March 18 1877 at hopkinsville, Ky as this time is quoted by Cayce himself (while out of trance) in the footnotes of reading 2551-3.

This chart might need to be rectified further or even changed. Only time will tell.

Let's start with Edgar Cayce's chart axis. The axis is PIVITOL as it is the cross that bares the mission in ones lifepath. The WHO, WHOM-TO, HOW and WHY.

The AC is the who. Edgar Cayce's AC is found to be at the 24.29 leo or the 25th degree of Leo. Here is the sabian symbol, taken from Dane Rudhyar's "An Astrological Mandala":

"A LARGE CAMEL IS SEEN CROSSING A VAST AND FORBIDDING DESERT.

KEYNOTE: Self-sufficiency in the face of a long and exhausting adventure.

The camel here represents a living organism that is able to sustain itself independently of its environment at the start of a trying journey. (The original formulation of the symbol did not refer to "a man on camel back.") The organism carries within itself what is absolutely needed for survival. At the deeper human level 'of consciousness it is easy to see the value of self-reliance and self-sufficiency as one enters the occult Path leading to a more dynamic and more inclusive realm of existence.

The camel carries water within its body, and it is said that the dromedary is able to utilize the matter stored in its large protuberance as food. The suggestion here is that in order to be released from bondage to the "old world" we should be completely self-contained emotionally; having absorbed the mental food which this old culture has given us, we are ready to face "the desert," nothingness, Sunya . . . until we reach the "new world." We need TOTAL INDEPENDENCE from our surroundings and utter SELF-RELIANCE."

So his who is a symbol of self reliance and containment.

The DC represents the WHOM-TO, that is, who we are to become in our life journeys. 24.29 aquarius. The symbol:

"A BUTTERFLY WITH THE RIGHT WING MORE PERFECTLY FORMED.

KEYNOTE: The capacity to develop the rational and fully conscious aspect of the mind ahead of normal evolution.

What seems implied is a kind of mutation, and more specifically the special development of whatever is symbolized by the "right side" of the organism. Here, however, the spiritual body (the butterfly) is what the Image represents. A strong process of conscious individualization is suggested, perhaps at the expense of the instinctual-emotional aspect of the personality (its "left side").

This last symbol fittingly concludes this sixty-fifth sequence, which began with "A disappointed woman . . ." The five-fold set deals with the management of human energies at the emotional level; here management means overcoming — this, on the basis of negative or ego-challenging experiences. This fifth symbol refers thus to the results of a TRANSMUTATION OF EMOTIONAL ENERGIES."

Not coincidently, the degrees of this AC/DC axis are are the exact same as the MC/IC axis of forum member piercethevale. You all probably know and love him by now. He's studied the Cayce texts for a majority of his life and has come to quite a few groundbreaking realizations regarding what Cayce has said about astrology. Cayce's MC falls at 18.59 taurus. This is so close to the cusp of the next degree, that if he was born just seconds after 3:20 exactly, it would move to the next degree. Thus, we shall look at the symbols for both 19 and 20 taurus.

The MC is the HOW of the chart. How one is to traverse from the AC to the DC.
19 taurus:

"A NEW CONTINENT RISING OUT OF THE OCEAN.

KEYNOTE: The surge of new potentiality after the crisis.

The symbol need hardly be commented upon. When the mind has been emptied and light has been called upon to purify the consciousness freed from its attachment and contaminations, a new release of life can emerge out of the infinite Ocean of potentiality, the Virgin SPACE. What will it be used for?

Because this is a fourth stage symbol we find in it a suggestion of how to approach whatever new phase of life has been not only hoped for, but actually confirmed. The "technique" is simply to allow the infinite Potential to operate in unconstrained SPONTANEITY. This means to have reached a state in which the conscious, rational ego is no longer a controlling factor."

The key premise here being the ability to clear the mind and allow unconstrained infinite potential to operate. This is what he did when going to a trance.. The HOW for sure... Note here that the symbol requires the need to reach a state wherein the ego is not in control... This is deeply connected to the AC/DC axis of Cayce.

And the 20th of taurus:

"WISPS OF WING-LIKE CLOUDS STREAMING ACROSS THE SKY.

KEYNOTE: The awareness of spiritual forces at work.

Any emergence of life potentialities from the depth of the vast Unconscious is answered by the spiritual activity of superconscious forces in a cosmic kind of antiphony. The individual who has taken a new step in their evolution should look for the "Signature" of divine Powers confirming their progress. It may reveal the meaning of what is to come next. The "wing-like clouds" may also symbolize the presence of celestial beings (devas, angels) blessing and subtly revealing the direction to take, the direction of "the wind" of destiny.

This is the fifth stage of the tenth five-fold sequence. It concludes a process, having experienced which the individual should find themselves more securely established in their own original nature, receiving the BLESSINGS of super-natural forces."

Note the phrase "receiving blessing of supernatural forces."

It is known that in readings, Cayce was often not the one doing the talking. He was channeling higher sources, sources from the "Great White Brotherhood". There were some indications in readings suggesting that Cayce was channeling Yeshua himself.

Please look to reading 254-85 where it is said, pretty clearly, who was talking through Cayce during his many readings.

These two symbols suggest that Cayce was born likely very close to this time where the MC falls right near the cusp of these two symbols, for it is both the "clear mind" and the "blessings of super-natural forces" that achieved the HOW of his life mission.

The IC of the axis thus falls at approx. 18.59 scorpio.

The IC is the WHY of the life path.

The symbol for 19 scorpio:

"A PARROT REPEATS THE CONVERSATION HE HAS OVERHEARD.

KEYNOTE: The capacity to transmit transcendental knowledge.

To the individual who lives in a state of ardent and sustained faith it may become possible to become a channel for the trans-mission of a knowledge or wisdom that transcends his normal mental understanding. The mind that has learned to be silent and attentive can become attuned to the rhythm of utterances which he may not comprehend intellectually, yet which may truly manifest superhuman realizations. Discrimination is needed here to balance the over-eagerness of faith.

At this fourth stage of the five-fold sequence of symbols we are given a hint as to man's capacity to attune himself to sources of higher wisdom if he can be sufficiently attentive and careful in channeling a "higher Voice." To stress here the negative element of automatism and unintelligent repetition is to use only one's intellect. All birds in symbolism suggest spiritual faculties or forces. What is evoked is the possibility of learning from higher Intelligences. Keyword: CHANNELSHIP."

I couldnt think of a symbol MORE fitting...

And 20 taurus:

"A WOMAN DRAWS AWAY TWO DARK CURTAINS CLOSING THE ENTRANCE TO A SACRED PATHWAY.

KEYNOTE: The revelation to the human consciousness of what lies beyond dualistic knowledge.

The "Woman within" — the faith that is rooted in the deepest intuitions of the soul — is seen here as the hierophant unveiling the realities which the either-or, pro-and-con mind of man alone cannot perceive. The path to the mystic's "unitive life" is opened up once the darkness of fear, egocentricity and dualistic morality is removed.

This is the last symbol of the forty-sixth five-fold sequence. It reveals what a positive reliance upon faith and intuition can bring about. Courage is needed to go through the veiling darkness — the courage to venture beyond the familiar and the traditionally known, to PLUNGE AHEAD INTO THE UNKNOWN."

Lets summarize... Shall we? The WHO is self reliance and WHOM-TO is transmutation of emotional energies. This is the path of someone using their individual containment to release control of the ego.

The HOW is the spontenaity that emerges from an empty mind, integrated with the blessing of super-natural forces... And the WHY is the capacity to transmit trandescental knowledge aka channelship, integrated with a plunge ahead into the unknown.

I'm really liking these symbols and am becoming quite convinced of the accuracy of this birth time for Cayce.

Cayce's part of fortune is in the 9th degree of libra.

The part of fortune represents the action that one can employ to most greatly achieve ones dharma and bring about spiritual fulfillment. Its meant to assist the MC, imo.

Heres the symbol:

"THREE "OLD MASTERS" HANGING ON THE WALL OF A SPECIAL ROOM IN AN ART GALLERY.

KEYNOTE: The need to return to source during a confused search for new value in a chaotic society.

There are always moments which focus in our minds the longing to re-ground ourselves in the great achievements of the past. The number 3 suggests completeness; esoteric traditions speak of the three-fold Soul, or of three fundamental "Rays" — of Power, of Love-Wisdom, and of Intelligence-in-action. Woah, this is spot on! This symbol is emphasizing "the longing to re-ground ourselves in the great achievements of the past."... Cayce awakened many to their own spiritual ancestry through countless readings on peoples past lives. He uncovered an enormous amount of data regarding the history of all mankind. "the seed of tomorrow salutes the seed of yesteryear..."

AN EAGLE AND A LARGE WHITE DOVE CHANGE INTO EACH OTHER.

KEYNOTE: The interaction of the spiritual Will and of the Love principle when critical needs arise.

This sequence of symbols concluding the Libra phase of the cycle deals with problems met by the seeker for the fulfillment of a higher life of Relationship. Implied here is a kind of Yang-Yin interplay. When the circle encompassing both principles rotates fast, they appear to change into each other. Consciousness operates beyond duality, because the polarized energies of the Soul (or spirit). Will and Love, though ever distinct, work for a single purpose.

The breath represents the power of the spirit, animator of all living manifestations. Because the glass blower uses his breath to shape the glass vessels, he is a fitting symbol of how deeply any creative individual has to involve his total being in his creation. He is also using the fire of the spirit — transpersonal inspiration — or, in another sense, the fire of deeply felt emotions. Cayce has Uranus conjunct the ascendant, a powerful connection, and Uranus biquintile the Sun. A definite indication of his unique mark that he left on the world.

Here is a quote from Sakoian & Acker's "The Astrologer's Handbook" on the Uranus - Sun conjunction:

"These natives are likely to be unusual in physique-frequently they are quite tall. They are alert and quick in their responses and extremely individualistic, with strong interests in the unusual, either scientific or occult. Their intuitive faculties are highly developed and they are able to tap a superconscious level of knowledge, gaining insights beyond the capacity of the average individual... They are often leaders in revolutionary activities, social philosophies, and new scientific ideas."

His Uranus is at 22 leo. Heres the symbol:

"A CARRIER PIGEON FULFILLING ITS MISSION.

KEYNOTE: Spirituality, in terms of training for service to mankind.

In contrast with the intoxicated chicken, we now have the successfully trained carrier pigeon delivering the message it was its function to carry. The twelfth house cusp represents the answer to the world's biggest problem, as the native sees it.

Cayce's twelfth house cusp is in the 26th degree of cancer. Heres the symbol:

"GUESTS ARE READING IN THE LIBRARY OF A LUXURIOUS HOME.

KEYNOTE: The transference of social privilege to the level of intellectual enjoyment.

We now see the concretization of cultural excellence and wealth at the level at which individuals can exercise their developed mental capacities in comfort. The process is individualized because the library belongs to a private residence, the luxury of which implies an individual's concentration upon the acquisition of wealth. This scene shows the result of such a concentration, including the acquisition of friends who can relax in and enjoy intellectual pursuits.

This is the first phase of the twenty-fourth five-fold sequence which here begins, and will end, on a note of social opulence and prestige. We are not dealing now with leaders in the intellectual community, but with wealthy guests who apparently seek to improve their minds or to keep up with intellectual trends of the time, thus maintaining CLASS STANDARDS OF INFORMATION. Edgar Cayce himself said that people were using the wrong zodiac, and it was in actuality "nearly 30 degrees earlier" pointing us in a direction of using a sidereal zodiac.

IF we just look at the ASC degree of 25 Cancer, instead of Leo, we see this sabian symbol:
PHASE 115 (CANCER 25°): A WILL-FULL MAN IS OVERSHADOWED BY A DESCENT OF SUPERIOR POWER.
KEYNOTE: The response of spiritual forces to the integration of personality through positive will-full endeavors.
We are dealing here with a man who uses his will and positive imagination in facing his life problems. To him comes a pentecostal descent of power. He receives the "mantle of power," the grace (baraka in Sufi philosophy) or the Providential assistance which can make him a true leader in his culture.
In this fifth symbol we witness a more transcendent expression of "success." It is not merely external success (as is given by society to its prima donnas), but a spiritual response, a sign of inner strength and uncommon ENDOWMENT.

Arena, you are quite mistaken about what Cayce said in the readings.

Here, let me show you. From reading 2011-03:

"The entity might apply self in symbology and as related to the various studies, and make much more of these than of astrology. For the Egyptian and the Persian records are quite varied. If the entity would study astrology, do not put the signs in the Egyptian calendar but in the Persian, for the Persian interpretations are more proficient than the Egyptian. This is not belittling the efforts of the entity nor of the Egyptians in those periods, but the variations in time have been corrected by the Persians and not by the Egyptians. The Egyptian calculations are thirty degrees off."

Besides, the sabians were divined by the tropical zodiac in the early 20th century, so we know they are accurate when applied to the tropical. The sabians are in fact fixed to the tropical zodiac.

So no sabian symbol will be right when applied to its sidereal position of the zodiac. Its the wrong method and I strongly discourage anyone from doing it.

The Golden Dawn group uses that from the Babylonians or Persia, a zodiac that is 30 degrees away from the tropical zodiac, one sign earlier, as in sidereal.

I am not saying that the sabian symbols should be read by the sidereal zodiac, I was just pointing out the difference.

To-may-to, to-mah-to. Perceive it how you want and to each his own. Im not here to get into a debate on sidereal vs. Tropical. I dont find the signs to be all that important especially in relation to the methods i employ. I focus on the techniques that give me consistent, accurate results. Cayce said time and time again that astrology as being practiced in these times was mostly bunk and did more harm than good. Too much emphasis on psychoanalysis creates a spiritually bereft system. Plus the techniques are all wrong. For instance, he said that most people have only three to six planets affecting them. He emphasized the importance of the ascendant and angles made to the ascendant (that includes the arabic parts).

So when he's telling us we need a complete overhaul of the practice, it doesnt do any good to go around in circles about this or that. Its about finding more beneficial methods of looking into a chart. (And i should point out that Cayce wasnt the one doing the talking on these matters. He was channeling higher sources. He, himself, got at least a few astrology readings done in his lifetime.)

Which is why i like to look at the sabian symbols in conjunction with the arabic parts. They are more focused towards spiritual enlightenment and growth at the soul level, cutting to the core of ones mission in life, than psychoanalytical categorization. And they are extremely accurate and specific, as well. And the sabians were born of the tropical and have proven themselves to be fixed with the tropical.

It's never a good idea to utilize or post a technique that you know to be faulty simply for the sake of adversary. That creates nothing but confusion where there doesnt need to be any. True knowledge deserves respect. And it's not good for your own wellbeing as we know, what goes around comes around.

Rudhyar said that all true paths of discipleship begin in virgo.

We've determined that the standard progression through the zodiac, starting at 1 aries and ending at 30 pisces, represents the process of material involution. The process of becoming more immersed in maya.

Theres another process found in the zodiac and it starts at 30 virgo and goes backwards around the horoscope, culminating at 1 libra.

This is the process of spiritual evolution.

So heres the sabian symbol for the 30th degree of virgo, the VERY FIRST step in the process of spiritual evolution:

"TOTALLY INTENT UPON COMPLETING AN IMMEDIATE TASK, A MAN IS DEAF TO ANY ALLUREMENT.

KEYNOTE: The total concentration required for reaching any spiritual goal.

This is the final symbol of the first half of the cycle. In the year cycle the fall equinox is now at hand; autumn begins. Through spring and summer many ways and byways have been experienced. The last message of this hemicycle of "Individualization" is that on all decisive occasions what must be done has to be done so intently that no outer voices can penetrate the mind, still less the soul. Just as the symbol for Aries 1° evoked the keynote of the entire first half of the cycle, i.e. differentiation out of the undifferentiated "Ocean of potentiality," this symbol for Libra 1° reveals to the intuitive consciousness the essential character of the second hemicycle. In the yearly cycle we have reached the fall equinox, the symbolic time -of bringing in the harvest in preparation for winter. It is the time consecrated to the seed, just as the spring equinox is consecrated to the germ, the new rise of life which in-forms the growth of individual organisms.

Cayces part of imprisonment is found to be at 29.18 capricorn.

The part of imprisonment represents that which we are imprisoned from (usually due to necessary karmic restrictions or debts...)

A symbol about the spiritual "White Lodge".. Well that is quite the peculiar inference in regards to his particular life mission.. And i cant help but speculate on whether there were some restrictions set in place for the necessary safegaurding of his mission... Or maybe he had the ability to turn this part on its head (kind of like how the part of nemesis can also be the part of advancement if applied appropriately..) Whatever the reason or exact implications.. It's quite fascinating!

And they are extremely accurate and specific, as well. And the sabians were born of the tropical and have proven themselves to be fixed with the tropical.

It's never a good idea to utilize or post a technique that you know to be faulty simply for the sake of adversary. That creates nothing but confusion where there doesnt need to be any. True knowledge deserves respect. And it's not good for your own wellbeing as we know, what goes around comes around.

Arena,the Sabians are affixed to the Tropical Zodiac. The only logical conclusion I can muster up is that they emanate from the Sun.
But, as they are Divine precepts they are likely in the realm and possession of the Angelic.
There are 72 Angels of the Quinaries, they may be overseeing five consecutive degrees apiece or possibly one of the seventy two possible perfect pentagrams each.

It does leave one wondering what might have been the Catastrophe that manifested during his lifetime that was of association to the 18th degree of Capricorn.

I say look to Dane's words, "... or it may be a warning against using power for selfish advantage."

Let's remember that politics is not a Divine precept, this symbol is more about what Dane's "Keynote" words are, i.e. "KEYNOTE: The protection afforded to individuals and groups by powerful institutions in charge of maintaining order."

Edgar was persuaded to use his proclivities to make money in the exploration and drilling for oil...and it ended badly.

The protection He got was from the "Higher Forces" and I doubt that they approved of Cayce using his "power" in such a manner.

With a story like that, one would expect His birth chart to either expose him as a faker, or to hold the key of his special identity and life story.

So let's take an in depth look. My preffered form of astrology is by use of sabian symbols and arabic parts, so we will be focusing on those things in this thread. The sabian symbols of the chart axis and some of the important parts can give great insight into ones spiritual roadmap.

Edgar Cayce has stelliums from the 5th to 8th house, the mystical 8th Sun and close proximity to his Moon in the 9th. People with 8th house suns like myself are drawn into the paranormal and supernatural. It's the house of death, morbid nature and darkness, but has its own light when it comes to spiritual matters. And 8th house under the sign of Scorpio has to do with healing, whether it's medical or otherwise, not limited to negative aspects.
