This is what I mean

For example, Sun is 15 and Saturn is 9 so together they are 24 and divided by 2 they are 12 .

So basically a sun saturn conjunction is good up to 12 degrees instead of the modern 10 degrees.

Have you guys found that this method of orb calculation to be accurate or do you think modern astrology is more accurate with their orb calculations?

My experience has been that the tighter orbs used in Modernist astrology (especially early Modernist astrology) have revealed more exact indications, than using the wider orbs of oldtime astrological practice; HOWEVER, I have also gotten what I consider to be clear and accurate indications from PLATIK aspects (aspects by SIGN, as used in Hellenist and Vedic astrology): my approach gives primacy to close aspect (tight Modernist aspect) by degree, with a secondary consideration of platik aspects (aspects by SIGN)...

In the very important consideration of Parallels of declination, I follow the older authorities and give a wider orb for Parallel (Modernists use a mximum 1 degree orb, I regularly use between 1.5 degree and 2 degrees, as Parallel orbs and obtain reliable and very satisfactory indications when using these wider Parallel orbs)

Two thousand years ago ancient astrologers used an orb of 3 degrees for aspects

AS WELL AS

aspects by sign

THEREFORE

Because any planet within 3 degrees of another planet is in aspect
then even if one of the planets Is LOCATED in an ADJACENT sign
IF they are separated by just 3 degrees
then two thousand years ago, ancient astrologers considered those planets as being in aspect

ALSO - regarding ASPECTS BY SIGN

If more than one planet is located in the same SIGN
THEN
Even if separated by as much as 28 degrees
Then those planets are in aspect by sign

Example

Any planet at 0 degree of a sign is in aspect with any planet at 29 degrees of THAT SAME sign

Ancient astrologers had their own methods of delineation and they work excellently and many astrologers use those methods today - examples at HELLENISTIC DELINEATIONS http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43920&highlight=hellenistic
