Moon to the 8th from Saturn is the one I have come across, and as far as I remember, the earliest one.

My astrology program offers 5 separate Arabic Parts of Death:

1. Death: Asc + 8th - Moon

2. Medieval Death: 8th + Saturn - Moon

3. Death "point" : Mars + Saturn - MH

4. Death of parents: ASC + Jupiter - Saturn

5. Death of Siblings: Asc + Degree(70) - Sun

In Late Classical Astrology translated by Greenbaum the formula is Asc + Moon - Saturn. It is the same day or night.

Moon +H8-Saturn?

No, Saturn + 8th - Moon. The way I have written it is the order in which you would calculate it: degree of the Moon to the degree of the 8th sign projected from Saturn.

... degree of the Moon to the degree of the 8th sign ...

That's key right there.

Right, the old Pars Mortis = Saturn + 8th - Moon.
Personally I have found the Anareta to be of much more practical value in my experiments (Ascendant + Moon-lord of the ascendant; reverse for night) and I have made much use of the anaretic dispositor ("anaretic planet") in experiments with indications from Solar Returns of individuals who died later in their SR year.

(Note: the formula ascendant+8th-Moon is a "death and disaster" Lot; actually I consider this more indicative of problems than the generally used "Lot of Death"-ie the original Pars Mortis)
