I am just wondering about the effect of debilitated planets on aspects.

Does a debilitated planet involved in an aspect weaken the effect of the aspect in some way?

I have for example Moon conjunct Mars in Libra (which is debilitated) and it made me wonder...

Can anyone explain this principle to me and how this works? Thanks

have you noticed you have sun parallel mars which acts like a conjunction. normally pisces and libra are quincunxed signs and don't have a lot in common BUT in declinations they are strengthened. So rather than feeling so adrift, fighting to find identity, ego with sun square neptune. Can you identify with sun/mars water/air, Do you find you want to communicate (libra) about emotions (pisces/water) a lot. Or do you find people bring their problems to you looking for tea and sympathy

Detriment, fall are more Traditional astrology things, although i do pay attention to them. So mars in libra is in detriment ie: weakened as it prefer to be in fire element/mars. Now 8' is rather wide orb, even though upto 10' is permitted for luminaries, to the effect of such a wide orb weakens the effects of detriment (in my mind)

Having so many planets in air, do you love studying, reading, researching? How do you compensate for the lack of earth element? do you think yourself fairly practical or bit hopeless?

Hi again, Astrologer50

Yes I did realise I had sun parallel mars - and from what I have read it fits WHEN I'm at my best.. but thanks for bringing it up. I do find I am trying to communicate my own emotions to myself often! Too much self-analysis, but I do feel I need it. I'm not always so good at communicating about my emotions to other people though. But I am very good at helping others out and so yes, lots of people come to me for support..

I am very intellectually minded and I do read and think a lot. As for compensating for lack of earth... well, I am a tale of two cities (so to speak) - I can be excellent and practical when it concerns everyday things, other people, but in the bigger scheme of my life, I have trouble getting going. But that's not in every area, there are things that make me very driven, but it's my overall direction. I think Uranus conjunct Midheaven may play a part! And perhaps my Saturn aspects, maybe I need to channel that energy better and rather than allow myself to swing in this stop/go motion, I should get more disciplined. I have the ability for it that's for sure.

As for Moon conjunct Mars (in Libra) and yes a wide orb, would you say the debility is weakened by the orb, but of course also the aspect? Or does it make for a double dose of weakness?!

Dont use debilitated terms with planets. I look at the aspects and so on on their own merits....Mars in Libra may be said to be debilitated and I have it, but it really lessens the inherent aggression of Mars and that can be a good thing as it is the urge for fairness and negotiates for harmony and peace as well as giving a certain grace of movement.

I'm no expert on debility but I would say yes the wide orb lessens it's effects. moon conj mars usually suggests bossy mother, and then the aspect belongs to you as someone assertively (mars) emotional (moon)

It's your chart, so how do you express the emotions/actions? do you identify with this or not?

also we have a sub forum focusing on such issues
