Well I'd have to go with Taurus Moon, the people I have come into contact with that placement are rather stable and able to discern feelings from reality better than others going through the same situation. Even Taurean Moon natives with Water Suns natally. A gift for certain that ability is and is why the Moon is exalted in that sign. My Cancer Moon is quite moody, yes, but probably the most genuine Moon like sign in the zodiac hence the Moon rules Cancer. The Moon is not stable period and a Moon in Cancer's mastery of the Moon placement is through being adapted to riding the waves. Surviving and even enjoying the "boat trip" called life
, and not our triumph over fluctuating moods through controlling them. Leave that to Capricorn Moon natives.
Sagittarius and Aquarius are not stable placements for the Moon in traditional astrology. Sagittarius Moon natives are considered a bit too "manic" (when Jupiter's jovial excessiveness goes manically awry at some level. Particularly if it is ill aspected). Aquarius Moon natives are a bit more unpredictable (Uranus' more unpredictable nature) than the Moon is already on its own. Always, and of course, other personal planetary placements can stablize things some. I was married to a Scorpio Moon for many years. Like the other water sign Pisces, they have depth of feeing, but if they are placed with a masculine Sun sign, they are not as stable in emotional expression either. I have seen that play out time and again. One needs to look at the elements their personal planets (particularly Venus and Mars) are in to get a full picture of how they express their Moon. Since our reactive feelings are a way of expressing love (Venus) and agressiveness or assertiveness (Mars), their placement and elements would need to be focused on so we can get a full picture of how we express our Moon placement on an idividual basis. So I'd be inclined to believe that none are really perfect at all because rarely are all the personal planets in one sign. I am a closer example of someone with all their personal planets in one sign, My Moon, Venus, and Mars are in Cancer. Those give me a strong leaning toward being Cancer like in my expression. My Leo Sun is a counter to those Lunar characteristics even though my Cancer Moon placement has a Leo flavor because its in my 5th house. I do get tired of focusing on the past and literally have to redirect my thinking. Does not help the Moon squares my natal retrograded Saturn. In Stephen Arroyo's book,
Relationships and Life Cycles, he states that persons with both Venus and Mars placements in Cancer are probably the best lovers of the zodiac. I know personally though, that with those Venus and Mars placements, the native's version of love can get a little too smothering
. So it is all a matter of opinion what love is. For we all have, at best, slightly differing definitions of it. Just as opinions about which Moon placement is best is varied.
You have some interesting points about Sagittarius Moon there, C0rnholio, concerning selfishness. Myself being Cancer and water heavy, natally, and having other outer planets in water.. Selfishness is supposedly a water characteristic. I have been rather shy in years past, Shyness is supposed to be the highest form of vanity because one thinks everyone is actually paying attention to them when they are being shy. Shyness is something for me that simply took practice and exposure to get out of the habit of is all. It often stems from one's early experiences (sometimes just a single event) that was bad and it set up a trend to retreat. I know other people with Fire sign Sun and Water sign Moon combinations natally, people of various ages and both sexes, that are still incredibly shy.
My least favorite Moon is probably Capricorn Moon. They are really limited, and staggered at best, in expressing their feelings ..even the ones with more expressive fire sign Suns natally. Not to say at all the feelings are not there, just that they are limited in their expressions. As with their polar opposite, Cancer, (and me having Cancer Moon is probably why they seem too harsh or alien to me at times, but we both have a tendency to hide these feelings based on fear of rejection) they work from overguarded feelings and reactions often enough. Both Moon signs are always afraid of rejection at almost primal levels of their psyches. Both are Shyer by nature. A plus though is that both are very genuine "friends for life types" though when they do become friends with any particular person by the same token. Aquarian and Sagittarians Moons are good at friendships too. My Brother is a good friend to me as I with him, He has unpredictable reactions though and a history of it. His Aquarian Moon conjuncts my Ascendant as well showing we have some things common emotionally at least on an appearance basis. He's water heavy too. In Pisces though.
