Astrologer's Philosphy on Reincarnation and Fate
Do astrologers believe more so in reincarnation, or a one-shot/one-life deal? And if you don't believe in reincarnation, why do you think we "choose" the lives we do-- even when some are so short to be lived?
Also, what about fate? I mean, if you are born to be a certain way and have certain fates befall you due to what your natal charts say, do most astrologers believe that fate is more predominant than free will?
I know there are other threads on these topics (i.e. is there a god? is there an afterlife?), but I was just curious as to what everyone here thought about reincarnation and fate specifically speaking. It seems kinda depressing to know you are born a certain way and there's really no way around it.

Here are some quotes by Liz Greene which I liked on the topic of fate in astrology .

Very cool. I like the way it was explained. It does make sense that the more aware you are of your strengths as well as those things you need improvement on, that the more you will grow and benefit from understanding them, and not be so easily led down some path you might otherwise wander.
Thanks.

Reincarnation and fate are two different terms which cannot be compared together. The reincarnation, together with the idea of karma is like a necessary result of our actions. Therefore it is so important to observe what we do and why we do it. In other words, reincarnation and karma needs a reflexion on our morality and ethics.
The fate is always together with determinations. Reflexes or animal reactions are naturally determined and therefore there is no possibility to change it.
So, if in our chart some things seemed to be determined, yes, that is surely true. But as we are human and conscient and have learned to see ourselves, we can transforme, correct and educate it. And even we have so to do with our chart, I think.

Re: Astrologer's Philosphy on Reincarnation and Fate
It is difficult to know what most astrologers believe about any particular idea. There is no paradigm enforced by academia because astrology, inspite of its ancient roots, is not accepted at all by the modern establishment. Astrologers are free and on their own.
In the ancient world reincarnation was taught by Pythagoras and Plato among others. Some souls could choose their lives, but others could not. Fate and destiny ruled the lives of men, but fate was not absolute: If one were to study philosophy the tyranny of fate could be overcome.
The more I study astrology the more I see its influence in peoples lives. It is often most visible in celebrity charts. I was just reading an article on Mussolini in Today's Astrologer. He was very successful until his progressed planets began to go retrograde. His popularity began to fade, then he was forced to resign and was soon killed. The philosophers would say that since he killed millions during his life, that this contributed to his harsh destiny.
However, if someone studies astrology or has a good astrologer, their fate may also be controlled. The natal chart is a map of life. It shows what difficulties may be expected and how to attain success even with weak planets. Celebrities often secretly receive astrological advice. If that is the case, we often cannot see the progress of their lives in their charts. They have left that behind. President R. Reagan had astrological advice. And according to published documents I have, so does B. Obama. This may account for his winning the presidential election even though his tenth house is much weaker than the tenth of J. McCain.
Therefore, fate is not absolute. Astrology can help anyone find their way to a happy destiny.

Re: Astrologer's Philosphy on Reincarnation and Fate
I don't "believe" in anything really.
I use things that work.
Neither I nor anyone else can know anything about "other lives" for certain. This is my opinion - but anyone who claims to have insights into past lives is suspect at best. No proof is available - nor can be available.
To put it in scientific terms, it's not falsifiable. So I'll continue to study it, but don't "believe" it.

Re: Astrologer's Philosphy on Reincarnation and Fate
Alan Leo felt the axis of 27 degree Leo/Aquarius denoted the reincarnation of an Astrologer. A forum member, Jeremy started a thread a while back on such.

What was interesting is how quite a few of us here on AW do have something or other at the degree.
Personally, I have to echo what Frank wrote above. Being agnostic, don't believe much in anything without hard cold measured proof.

Yeah, but it's speculation that he just made that up because he had something there. Hehe
