I hope I don't get in trouble for asking this, but...
... I'm new to astrology. Very new. And I would like to learn more about it. I bought some books on astrology (i.e. The Only Way to Learn Astrology series-- first 3 books), and am about to read them, but I was wondering if someone could help me out.
Someone did my natal chart 2 years ago for me. She did a very detailed chart, but failed to go into great detail. Is there any way that if i scan in the chart, someone could interpret it for me? I ask because I think if I have my *own* chart to learn with, and can interpret it before hand, I'll have an easier time learning.
Thanks so much. And I'm sorry if this post is a no-no and considered spam. I tried to find if there was an area to discuss personal charts, but I couldn't find one. Sorry again.

Re: I hope I don't get in trouble for asking this, but...
Well I personally dont see this question as an issue! We are all here to do the same thing, ask about charts! Welcome anyhow.
You can either scan the chart, which I am not sure how a scanned chart will come across on the net, or create a computerized one on astro.com and upload it to the forum.
We are more than happy to have a peek.
What exactly are you hoping to find out?

Okay! No problem. I'll link you to the the actual chart below this post.
Oh, and I deleted the old post because I was trying to delete the old chart so no one got confused. So here is what I posted before:
I wanted to know more about 4 things.
First: my career. She said I would be a reliable co-worker and I should do "practical" things like accounting. But that's not my field. Any information on my career would be helpful.
Second: my love life. She didn't say much on what would happen in terms of my marriage. I am married now. She was quiet and refused to tell me anything more.
Thrid: children. She said I'd have 2 children, but there would be "something strange about them." Not sure what she meant. Did she mean I cannot have kids? I will adopt them? They will be another man's kids? Are they my dogs??? What??? LOL! All she said is that they would love me and "his" family would take care of me when I was older. Huh??
Lastly: travel/philosophy. She said someone would be funding me to go study abroad and learn philosophy or something. Huh? Any insight on that?
Also, just know that she did this chart for me around September 2006. I have no idea if this was just a yearly chart or what. I don't understand it that well. Anything else you could tell me in terms of the past, present, future would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Quick question-- how come this chart looks totally different from the chart I posted earlier? Are natal charts supposed to be that different and subjective?

my thoughts, to Torgo
Torgo,
I have no clue what your astrologer was talking about. If the chart you posted is accurate (i.e., right birth time, etc.), here are my thoughts:
Career possibilities (not guessing what you currently do, just giving you some thoughts for a possible future):
You have Virgo (daily work, also health) modifying your Midheaven (outer world), a Talent Triangle focused on Pluto (transformation, also healing, psychology), strong energy focused in the 8th house (transformation, also healing), and Leo (associated with children) in the 8th house. This suggests that you could be child psychologist/healer of some sort.
Relationships:
You have Mars (being, also anger) focused in the 7th house (relationships), so beware of being angry in relationships or attracting angry people in relationships.
I don't predict, so I will skip the children situation.
Travel:
Since you have North node (future goals) focused in the 9th house (expansion, also travel, wisdom), you have a goal in life of learning and teaching as much as you can, and some of that learning could come through travel.
Thinking astrologically,
Tim

Yes, the day, month, year, and time are all correct.

I actually have two MS degrees, one in psychology, and one in education. This fall I am hoping to have a career in teaching. Amazing you could see that in my chart. My other astrologer told me I should do something practical, like accounting...??? I suppose she was just throwing her own $0.02 in or something...??

I am very empathic and I cannot stand being around depressed/angry people. I take on their problems and it kills me. So, yes, I can agree totally with what you say here.

Fair enough. I think part of her chart reading had to do with premonitions too, because she did predict *many* things that happened, which were very specific.

Okay, maybe that is what she meant, although she did say something about people paying for me to study abroad, but that was probably part of her "divination" side of her chart interpretation.

Thanks a lot, Tim. I appreciate it.
Does anyone else have anything to add to this chart? Do you see anything I should be aware of that Tim did not cover?
Thank you.

That's okay. The other poster said it was difficult to see, so I guess it doesn't matter. But if you have anything to add to the one I posted from the astro website, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Re: I hope I don't get in trouble for asking this, but...
Chiron in 5thH:
You may be able to help others more then yourself concerning self image projection...mabie you have a hard time presenting yourself in a self expressive way, mabie you either do this through possessions or you oppose it totally, not wanting possessions.
with the moon in the second, in cap opposing merc in 8th leo, I was wondering if your ambitions for wealth and possessions opposes you thoughts on such......
Does working with others like kids for example help you with you own self image or expression in some way, do you find yourself helping yourself by helping others?
Not just in a financial way, but do you realize how you may improve your self expression, through material ways, by explaining it to others and not untill then.

I would err on the side of not wanting possessions. I'm the least materialistic person around. I don't buy "things" and never have. I actually have a large disdain for the superifical world.

I honestly have no ambitions for wealth and possessions. I love simplicity. Perhaps I am too unambitious, actually. I don't like comeptition. I don't care about who has what or how I measure up in that sense.

I would agree so, yes. I seem to be able to know how to help others, but am blind when it comes to helping myself. I feel more "alive" if I am helping someone, and putting myself on the back burner. But then there are those who take advantage of that part of me and then that's when trouble begins.

It is a planetary pattern, of sextiles and a trine....really you have 3 talent triangles. they are the triangles in blue on your chart.

What you said about feeling alive for the most part, I am still trying to understand chiron in a natal chart, you have it in the 5thH(self expression) in taurus(possession)....often taurus symbolises possesions, and additudes
about such, and you have chiron square many of your planets in leo, sun, venus, jupiter.
I have chiron in taurus as well...but opposite uranus, I have a dislike of possesions as well, but it can be extreme...to the point of rebelling against them entirely.

Re: I hope I don't get in trouble for asking this, but...
Hi Torgo
Your astrologist is probably a good example of someone who gives the professionals a bad name. She displays very sketchy knowledge. For instance saying you would be good at accounting (you probably would). She's had a quick look at your eighth house where you have Sun, Jupiter, Venus and Mercury in Leo. This house rules managing other's finances, in depth research, investigative talents, healing, seeing under the surface, etc. However I think with so much Leo here, fire and creativity, I would rule out accounting immediately! Especially as you have a sagittarius Ascendant.
The bit about 'strange children' comes from Uranus in the 11th house - it rules children, also ideological work and Aquarius related things like inventivness and individuality. You have Uranus in Scorpio here and rather than giving you strange children, I would interpret this a giving you healing capacities that may be outside the square, to do with young people or organisations.
I'm thinking the astrologist may have looked at the placement of Mars to come up with the number of children. It's placed in Gemini, hence 2 (twin sign). I would probably not read much into that.
You have an emphasis in your chart towards the 'outer' world (top of your chart) and your chosen career, so I'm also guessing this is why she did not say much about your marriage. It does not mean that your marriage is not a fulfilling and supporting part of your life.
Also, Saturn in Virgo in 9th H, probably produced the bit about someone funding you to go abroad to study philosophy. Saturn (authority, money, father figure, structure, duty), Virgo (studious, sorting, discerning, minimalist), 9 H (Expansion, travel, higher learning, philosophy, religion).
I think there is a much more complex meaning to this placement.
For sure a significant house with both Saturn and North Node here. By studying astrology yourself, the meaning will probably come to light.
It is much easier to have facts at hand and explain a chart accordingly. I am a novice, but at least I think rather than startle someone with strange predictions, I think it is better to enlighten the person by at least point to the things in a chart that makes you draw certain conclusions. So with that in mind I will add to the previous posts that with Pluto (tranformation, power) in Libra (justice, equality) in the 10th house (career, authority) you could be involved in the legal system. Seeing as you have Mars (action, assertiveness) in Libra's own house, 7, perhaps mediation to do with relationships. Just a thought.
Anyway I was just trying to explain where the astrologist might have got her ideas from. Can be very scary if they don't even try to explain, and use a bit of reasoning/intuition/psychlogy in the process.
Cheers!

Chiron does indeed seem to be a "key player" in this chart - particularly as it exactly squares the sun which (I think) disposits all other planets in the chart; squares the chart ruler (jupiter); squares the mid-point of the 4 planet stellium in Leo (natural 5th house sign) and also aspects saturn/uranus/neptune/pluto.
My understanding of chiron in Taurus/5th house is it indicates deep-seated feelings of insecurity (Taurus) stemming from subconscious childhood memories - and that insecurity probably affects the adult's creativity (5th house). Planets in aspect to chiron then help/hinder the ability to learn to live with this psychological wound, according to the nature of the aspect involved.
( Edit - This could be about learning to understand your own Chiron so well that you are able to help others understand and overcome their chiron wounds/psychological "hang-ups" - thereby releasing their creativity. That would be a fitting objective for a qualified psychologist working in education, with a sun final dispositor + stellium in Leo/8th house and a jupiter chart ruler.)

I hope one day when I have read more and studied more I'll better understand what all of this means. But thanks for helping and I'm sure it will give me better insight once I'm practicing and need something to refer to.

I guess so. She claims she took courses at Princeton University and that's how she learned astrology. She seemed confident in her abilities. Some of the stuff she said, though, that was "predictive" and invovled mainly her gift for foresight, were spot on though. But I found when she would just try to interpret what she read on the chart, she was saying things that were kinda puzzling to me. Probably because she was confused herself I guess.

Definitely. I am not one to work with numbers or do things that have "fine details" with them. I'm more of a creative, general picture sorta person. If I was doomed to a life of accounting, I might go insane. I need a career that allows creativity or I will die a slow death.

Does healing mean literally too, in the sense of, let's say, someone who does energy work (i.e. reiki)? Or is mainly just meant to be something like counselor, doctor, etc.? I ask because I've always known I have a great gift for empathy. I've done reiki before too and the experiences I've had with it were phenomenonal. I have a very heigtened 6th sense, I guess you would say, but it's been dormant for a few years now, due to "losing my way," for lack of a better phrase. My astrologer saw this and pointed it out to me as well, and said it would be "coming back" very soon and I'd be "amazed" at what I'm going to be capable of doing. She didn't cite any specific planetary examples though, so it might have been just her psychic side talking.

Cool. Well, I learned tarot first and, even though it is no where near as complex as astrology, I feel motivated to learn this now. I really find this stuff fascinating and tend to really believe there is something to all of this (I know, I'm preaching to the choir, eh? Haha!).

My mother always wanted me to become a laywer. Actually, my whole family did. Even my husband says I should have been one. I hate studying law though. Again, goes back to the stifiling world of no creative outlet. I do, however, have a great passion for seeing justice. I get very upset when I see injustice in the world and I'm sure later on in life I might become an advocate of sorts for children or animals (I have a great connection to both). I suppose I'll have to wait and see. But I guess that's what the legal system thing means.

Thank you very much, N. I appreciate the time you took to explain all of this. Hopefully as I start to learn more, I'll be able to put pieces together and formulate my own conclusions. Just one question though: how does one go from studying just what the chart says, to predicting events? For example, they are saying now because of Pluto entering (I think?) Capricorn or something like that, that there is going to be a huge shift in power in the world, which correlates to what is going on currently in the news and such. How does one go about figuring all of that stuff out?

Sounds right to me. I think my astrologer also mentioned this to me. I do have a big problem in my life right now with letting go of anger and being depressed due to things that happened to me a few years ago. Sure, it's not childhood issues, but I had such a dysfunctional childhood that I'm quite sure that most likely has something to do with the way things have unfolded in my life, and why I can't move on from my most recent pain.

That could be very possible too. I am actually very aware of my problems and try to be as honest with myself as possible so I can be healtheir, but I am even better at being aware of other people and their issues and trying to help them. I find it very easy to look at another person and know what/why they are in pain, but when it comes to me, again, I have a hard time releasing my pain the proper way.

astrologer's method, to torgo
torgo,
Thanks for posting your astrological chart again. It looks like your astrologer entirely focuses on signs on the edge of houses rather than at the planets in the houses themselves. Personally, I do things the other way around, and only look at the planets in the houses. Many astrologers do BOTH, look at the signs on the edge of houses AND planets in the houses. Since she only seemed to be able to look at the signs on the edge of houses, this could be a "warning sign" that she had heard this is what astrologers do...but didn't really understand why. Some of the conclusions she writes based only on the sign in my opinion simply don't work when looking at the entire chart.
Wholistically astrological,
Tim

Re: I hope I don't get in trouble for asking this, but...
Hi Torgo
Sorry it's late and I didn't get the quote function right;
"I've done reiki before too and the experiences I've had with it were phenomenonal. I have a very heigtened 6th sense, I guess you would say, but it's been dormant for a few years now, due to "losing my way," for lack of a better phrase. My astrologer saw this and pointed it out to me as well,"
"I learned tarot first and, even though it is no where near as complex as astrology, I feel motivated to learn this now. I really find this stuff fascinating and tend to really believe there is something to all of this"
"I get very upset when I see injustice in the world and I'm sure later on in life I might become an advocate of sorts for children or animals (I have a great connection to both)."
All of the above could relate to your Virgo Saturn in the 9th house. Saturn for sure is a sore spot in my chart, and I also have a north node where my Saturn resides. Yes I guessed that you would feel pain from the injustices in this world, more than most. Saturn rules Capricorn, who builds slowly but surely. Maybe take stock in that every step we take as individuals makes a difference to the world. With virgo here you could probably worry and think about world issues, maybe feel you are not heard. Virgo and Saturn can bring very good qualities here too though, such as excellent media skills, communication, structure. ( I left out this house in my previous post as I did not quite understand the placement, so I apologise if I am completely off course).
Remember that only by taking care of your on health can you be strong to help others. Just like a doctor doesn't need to be physically ill to have a practice, or psychologist a mental disorder to understand patients, someone who can see the ills of the world and wants change, needs some self-preserving detachment and bring in some fun and ligh, and humour to compensate for the heavy feeling.
I do feel exploring alternative healing is a win-win situation for you, it can only benefit your work and your several planets in the 8th H (Scorpio's home)pobably gives you some of the Scorpio hands-on healing abilities. My BF is a Scorpio and is a reiki master, but hasn't practised it for a while. But he really doesn't feel complete unless he can be connected to the spiritual and healing realm. As always, if you feel pain, it is a calling card for change and it might press you in the right direction.
"how does one go from studying just what the chart says, to predicting events? For example, they are saying now because of Pluto entering (I think?) Capricorn or something like that, that there is going to be a huge shift in power in the world, which correlates to what is going on currently in the news and such. How does one go about figuring all of that stuff out?"
I would do the basics, then start to have a look at your solar return each year, it tells you likely events a year ahead. Your astrologer doesn't sound that bad after all. I say go all out and get connected with reputable people, be they in reiki, astrology or other. Maybe find a mentor, someone that will take you under their wing.
Yes, very interesting Pluto leaving Sagittarius and entering Capricorn. Tranformation regarding issues relating to the sign of Capricorn. Rather than Sagittarius (ideology , cultural exchange, excesses).
All the best

Hi Torgo,
Chiron is a new planet, discovered in 1977 but only recently being used by astrolgers as it takes around 30 years of observations to ascertain what it might mean. So, most of us are "struggling to understand Chiron" (even in our own charts).
At present, the view is that Chiron inflicts a psychological wound on us (usually in childhood) which cannot be healed/overcome - so, we have to learn to "live with it". And that learning leads to a level of self-understanding which can enable us to then heal the psychological wounds of others. (Search "Chiron" on the internet, as there is now plenty of information on it there.)
In your chart diagram, it is the "key-shaped" symbol at 13 degrees 52 mins in the sign of Taurus.
However, if you open another (natal board) thread asking specifically about the interpretation of Chiron in your chart, I think you might get a very good response from forum members who are actively working with this planet - and some interesting insights from them.

I guess so. I mean, some of the stuff she said was spot on, but again I think it may have to do with the fact that she was using her own psychic abilities to foresee the future. For example, if you can see where it says "spontaneous new game" there, she described someone to an absolute T that I would meet in the upcoming weeks. Extremely tall (he was 6'9"), "distinguished" (he was from England), recently came out of a painful relationship (he was just divorced a lil' over a year ago), extremely smart (take my word for it), much older than me (he was at least 15 I think), a writer (he was writing a book at the time and ended up dedicating it to me), and a few other points that were unbelievably correct. I didn't believe it myself until I got to know him and realized, "Ohmigod-- this is the person she 'saw' in my chart!" And she also saw me have a horrendous experience October of that year that came true. That's why I was wondering if anyone else could "see" what she saw in the chart. I suppose it really was just her psychic abilities working well, while her chart reading was kinda so-so I guess.

Yes, I have been suffering from severe depression the past few years, and have finally been getting over it somewhat. It still lingers, and just recently I started therapy because I have such a huge problem with letting go. EJ's post below your explaining about Chiron just smacked the issue right on the head, but I'll get more to that in my reply to him.

My astrologer never told me that. She also told me that "don't bother playing the lotter because you'll never win, and you'll always have a hard time with money." Not that I won the lottery, but I find the exact opposite to be true. I always seem to "fall into money" when I need it most. It's like a really good curse of sorts. Part of me picked up on the fact that either she wasn't that good interpreting my chart, or she may have "seen" something and became jealous (because she's a bit obsessed with money herself) and didn't want me to think I was as fortunante as I was in this lifetime. Who knows? But I've always known I have healing abilities and I'm surprised she sorta dissuaded me from thinking I did with the whole, "Go into accounting" and implying mundane, practical things were best for me. Totally confused me.

I don't feel complete without some occult/spirituality in my life. When I became atheist, I sorta lost my mind. It was also during a time of severe depression/suicidal thoughts, so I really just wanted to end it all. Losing my ability to "feel" connected to something larger than myself killed me. I saw no point of going on and experienced a horrible existential crisis. I still am atheist, but am trying to study buddhist philosophy to try to overcome my disdain with injustice in the world and pain and suffering. It's hard, but when I try to focus on the more "psychic/intuitive" side of my life, it at least gives me some hope that I'm still here for a reason, and it's better in the long run I don't just take my life now.

I would love to find a mentor, but it's so hard. I had a hard enough time finding a psychologist I could trust, and I'm still in the beginning process with him, although I'm feeling good vibes this time. I'd love to find someone who is gifted psychically who would mentor me again like I was mentored before with reiki, but I just don't know where to start. Not that I want to focus on reiki, I'd much rather prefer to focus on buddhism because at least it's practical for me in terms of getting by day-to-day and trying to enjoy life again.
Thanks for all of your suggestions/comments, N.
