HI,
I'M GOING TO MENTION SOME INDICATIONS OF CREATIVITY IN A NATAL CHART, THE LIST IS NOT AN EXHAUSTIVE ONE. CREATIVITY HAS MANY FORMS IT ISN'T ONLY ARTISTIC OR MENTAL.

- VENUS -NEPTUNE HIGHLY CREATIVE PLANETS ARTISTICALLY
- MERCURY INTELLECTUALLY
- THE 5TH HOUSE ALWAYS HAS A ROLE IN CREATIVITY
- EVERYTHING NEEDS SOLAR ENERGY TO WORK AND PROSPER
SO LOOK FOR ASPECTS TO THE SUN
- WHERE IS THE RULER OF YOUR 5TH, WHAT APECTS DOES IT FORMS ETC

Re: Creativity

also, it might help to note why these are important points to look at.

5th House - corresponds to Leo (youth, vitality, high energy, Sun, the creator, thus creation)
Mercury - thought pacing and focus
Venus - material world, the senses, visual & musical beauty, sex & love, thus creation

Does Taurus in Midheaven "save" you?

Re: Creativity

How would you rate a
-Cap Moon conj Mars in 5 (wouldn't Mars take you more towards sports with its physical energy)?
-Piscean Venus in 7 sextile Moon & Mars
-In Taurus- only MC, but no planets
-Leo ASC
?

Hi Jupiter,
This is some useful bit of info. This is one area I've never paid much attention to, and I have never felt 'creative' & don't seem to possess any so-called 'creatvie' talents either (in fact seem to be a pretty bland person)
Reading your post makes me more hopeful with regard to this topic
Can't understand why I'm so bland, as I seem to fare well according to your list. I have:
-5th house has Cap Moon conj Mars in
-Ruler of 5 Sun is the ruler of my chart, Leo ASC
-Sun is Aquarian in 6 conj Merc & sextile Chiron; Merc rules my house 11
-Piscean Venus in 7 sextile Moon & Mars (in 5) & squares Nept (in 4, Sag)
-Taurus has- only MC, but no planets
-Libra has Pluto (sextiles Nept-4) and is on the cusp of 3

Thanks

Re: Creativity

I have seen this word 'creativity' given more than one meaning.

I have heard it defined as an ability to deal with each situation as though it is totally new rather than by rote, and this is supposed to be a solar function, with maybe a touch of Uranus too. This seems to be a qulity ha is prized in the business world especially, though it usually comes with considerable ruthlessness too.

Artistic creativity may, however, be more about an ability to give form and exporession to imaginative images and impressions, so Venus-Nepune hard aspecs may well have role to play here. Gauquelin suggested that as far as written creativity goes, this can be tied to a strong and angular Moon.

The 5th House is supposed to be about creativity too, perhaps because of the links with play rather than work.

Finally, a creative point for anyone in their charts, especially if this point is occupied by a third planet, is the Sun/Moon midpoint, where there is a marriage of both active and passive, yin/yang polarities coming together. Body and soul, spirit and mind having a common meeting point. Charles Harvey and Mike Harding managed to make it sound very sexy, anyway in their book on midpoints and harmonics.

Re: Creativity

I have a couple of questions, as I consider myself creative, I have jupiter in taurus in my tenth house and it is conjunct my mc. But it does oppose my venus in scorpio in the fourth house, though an astrologer said that she thought that venus was the deepest part of me....???!!!!
my venus is conjunct my ic and neptune....my fifth house has mercury and the moon, and my sun/moon midpoint is at 1 d cap, my fifth house is ruled by sag or jupiter, my ac is in leo, I am good on stage, feel very comfortable and alive there, good at writting songs, and good at any kind of art really, also the applied stuff, painting ectera. my sun makes a lot of squares though. To mars/pluto and uranus. All in virgo. I have a kite formations and a in earth signs.

Re: Creativity

so sorry i forgot to ask my questions, what makes a good singer, i am told over and over again, that i have a great singing voice, so i am considered a good singer, but i do not have a moon or the ac in taurus, my 3rd house is ruled by venus, my venus is in detriment....
and my creativity is very versatile. how is that possible?

Re: Creativity

The comments here are very helpful to anyone wanting to explore creativity in a chart - clearly addressing the question asked and meeting the forum objective of furthering member's general knowledge of astrology.

However, in practice, individual elements in a chart never seem to me to operate "as expected" - usually because some other factor modifies things in ways that can only be ascertained/understood by looking at the chart as a whole.

For example, WorldSpice's ability to sing might be apparent in a "holistic" approach to astrology but not in the (more usual) "element analysis" approach.

Maybe we should be looking at charts as we look at (say) houses - in terms of the end result rather than the individual materials used in the construction.

Anyway, I guess all that I'm saying here is "never forget that we are looking at people rather than something that behaves according to rules". Maybe planetary synergy is a big factor in creativity?

EJ

Re: Creativity

Hi, Ej53, Hi, was well said, cause I was never trained musically, it comes naturally and I though it probably takes a lot longer how to learn how to sing well, or make your own style or finding your own approach. I did get trained in dance though. I have years of training again. I did not start until I was about 23 to dance and learn ballet/modern/jazz. Then later I got bored of all the modern stuff and became fascinated with ethnic stuff. For that I would look to my secondary progressions for any changes to the way I look at the world or my new loves. But yes, I have an holistic approach as opposed to a
anylytical approach to things. I go through and organic process.
Yes, I agree that the houses should be looked at but I think you need to do what we always do in astrology and look at all the facets of the diamond.
Energies, styles of expression, aspects and how they may play out and what houses are important in people's chart. Blending everything you may come with a pretty good idea of what is possible.
