It's good if you post exact time and place you were born.

Re: Major In College (important)

I concur on needing exact time and place of birth, but given the chart posted, I'm going to give the classic suggestion for a gemini--you probably want a double major. Writing and language majors probably would be most appropriate. Hope that helps.

Hi Munchi,

You will not like this BUT you need to stick with the computer science major.

That accords with your North Node placement so, if you complete the course, you will find that it somehow helps you to handle the pyschological "wound" inflicted by Chiron during childhood. (That wound will make you feel uncomfortable with anything you study - so, the objective is to prove that you can do what you think you cannot/do not want to.)

Sorry to be the bearer of "bad news".

Good luck with your studies.

Re: Major In College (important)

I'm curious, EJ; did you come to this conclusion by the North Node's sign or house placement, or some other factor attributed to the nodes?

I know that Uranus is generally considered to rule electronics and computers, and Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius, but I was actually expected to see the North Node in the eleventh house.

I'm also not quite seeing the connection with Chiron because the nodal axis does not make any aspects to Chiron that I can see, unless you are referring to the fourth house placement of the North Node and connecting the fourth house to the sign of Cancer, in which Chiron is located.

I haven't mastered vocational astrology yet, and college majors are particularly tricky business in my opinion because one's college major often does not corrlate to the job one eventually works, although a college degree is required for many jobs today.

I notice that there seems to be a Scorpio/eighth house theme in this chart with first house Pluto in Scorpio and eighth house Sun and Moon in Gemini; the ruler of the tenth house, the Sun, is your eighth house Gemini Sun, so this leads me to believe this interchange of energies may point towards the kind of career you wish to pursue. Your Sun is one of your least-aspected planets, so it's pretty independent as far as energy-exchanges go; the Sun doesn't "connect" into your chart as much as Mercury, for example. Least-aspected planets tend to have strong energy, so with this position of the Sun coupled with your Leo Ascendant, I would suggest a possible reason why you are not happy in computer science is because it may not allow you to express your individuality as much as these influences would like.

The Sun is located is the eighth house though, as I mentioned before, which provides a rather different perspective than the Sun as the least-aspected ruler of the Midheaven suggests. When the Sun occupies the eighth house, it has not yet set, but neither is it blazing brightly in the sky. The light is decreasing and the sky is becomming darker, and similarly, the eigth house corresponds to that which is hidden or taboo.

The image that comes to mind when exploring the Gemini-eighth house connection is some kind of deep delving into words or language--breaking codes or perhaps searching for deeper meaning in literature. Gemini is associated with communication, and as a Double Gemini, you most likely enjoy talking, although again, the eighth house influence may mute this slightly. Gemini is sometimes regarded as a superficial sign because it likes to explore a multitude of topics, becomming a "jack of all trades" instead of specializing in one thing, so this may partially be why you are having difficulty decided upon a major. You are also quite young, and I believe most young people struggle with this decision; I'm still struggling with it, and I'm already in college!

The eighth house is often associated with Scorpio although some astrologers do not believe the houses necessarily correspond with the signs in such a matter. Nevertheless, Gemini and the eighth house have been difficult factors for me to combine in a cohesive interpretation, as you have probably noticed. Some characteristics associated with an eighth house Sun and Moon are pitted against characteristics associated with a Gemini Sun and Moon. Yet with Leo ruling your Midheaven, I believe your Sun in particular is the answer.

Chiron was mentioned before, so I'm going to bring up another observation I have just made; Chiron is conjunct Jupiter, the ruler of your fifth house of creativity, so the picture being formed here is even more complex. The same group of astrologers who associate the eighth house with Scorpio associate the fifth house with Leo, so we are brought back yet again to your eighth house Gemini Sun; since the Moon rules Cancer, your Chiron-Jupiter conjuntion brings us back to your eighth house Gemini Moon.

Therefore, I believe these are all important factors to consider and sort through.

Hi again Munichi,

Firstly, as a former UK employer of university/college graduates, I support AM's comment above but would add "because employer's are more concerned with how much you grew at college than what you studied there." In other words, when the time comes to seek a job/career, potential employer's will need to be assured that you (maturely) changed courses for the right reasons and only after considering the implications for everyone involved rather than focussing solely upon what feels right for you now. Otherwise, they will be wary of investing time/money in training someone who (from their perspective) might change careers as "readily" as you may seem (to them) to have changed your course.

So, I still think you should stay with the Computer Science major BUT - if you really must change - doing so "maturely" might accord with your North Node placement in Aquarius/4th house.

However, accountancy/economics/mis/marketing and international business strike me as 10th house subjects - making them South Node behaviour (that which we are most comfortable with but should strive to avoid).

Astrologically then, you are being asked to decide whether to stay on your more difficult North Node path (that which we are uncomfortable with) or "change course" to the South Node path. And, for that reason, I do not want to put forward any suggestions for an alternative course (particulaly since, as stated in my first comment "the Chiron wound will make you feel uncomfortable with anything you study".

Good luck on Saturday. (Whatever you decide will be OK - provided that decision has been made "maturely".)

EJ

Re: Major In College (important)

As I look at your chart, you should continue with computer science. Using the whole sign system, Cancer is your 10th house; Jupiter is in residence; and it receives a sextile aspect from Mercury. This is a good arrangement for CS. Do not be tempted to keep changing as the Moon influences this. Jupiter will give you expanding opportunities in your career.

Hi Munchi,

Thanks for updating us on your situation - and I would be interested to know what you finally do decide.

In the meantime, (for me) your statement above expresses the astological influences clearly - it's about whether to go with your heart or with your head. Only you can decide - but, make sure that you've done all of the thinking before you do so.

Best wishes.

EJ

Re: Major In College (important)

If you choose to change majors, please do not go into management sciences.

Accounting---not creative enough for you

Economics---this industry is going though a rough patch.

Management information systems---most of this training you can pick up elsewhere or will be provided for you if you are in this position

Marketing and international business--you probably would be great at the marketing portion (gemini, the salesperson with libra ascendant doesn't hurt either), but the international business portion is likely to contain a great deal about international laws---which is not a calling I see in your chart.

Other options would be to declare a double major, to declare a minor in a totally unrelated field, or to keep a fun class in your schedule--like a physical class (gym), an art class, or a writing class.

Re: Major In College (important)

Hey again,
Yeah you may be right geranium...although management sciences may seem not my type...but I find that I can excel in it easily...this week I kept going to talk to graduate students from MIS and checking their course works....going to the library to see the books of the courses.

And I find that its study is more interesting and not boring as computer science would be.

The two points that I dont like at CS is that I was enrolled in it because I thought that I will be taking graphics courses as I didnt want to work as programmer but a graphic designer

To my surprise I found the CS only take 1 course through the four years study and I cant work as a graphics designer but I can take external courses from companies or other places in graphics and it would be better.

The other point is its career is not my type....I dont like ending up making programs from morning to dawn and without being bored...just writing command infront of a laptop.

While management and specifically MIS is better and more practical and not boring...my mother was graduated from management and her family too.

So that show me that im natural at this, althought I have the feeling that Im finally home. I like its interesting new study as I am good at handling and managing money and making decisions and am also good at convincing people of my point of view very well.

I also like its career and it is not quiet boring as CS does and easier becasue Im not good at either physics or math.I abhore those two subjects and I already failed at math 101 in CS and I got B- at physics 101.

Anyway I misunderstood CS and I remember that I bashed towards enrolling in it due to my friends influnce on me that they convinced me and gave me another different image of it than what it really is.

That also was because I didnt make any effort to research and ask people of what CS really is and I didnt even take programming in my whole life even courses. So it was quiet difficult and boring to me.

I think that management will be better for me as in study and as in career.

And Im sure that I wont regret doing so.

I was sharing my point of view at the moment as now im at college computer lab and I will go at 12:00 to sign the management papers from the dean.

Sorry for making it a longgg reply.

Thanks,
M

Re: Major In College (important)

Munchi

Graphic designer is NOT part of CS .. Never been that way
Programming is CS
Graphic designer is more in arts department
usually private smaller colleges and universities offer that

You should have looked into the cirriculum to to see a complete list of the classes you would be taking.. CS is not easy! if your heart is not there, get into Arts major.. they usually have graphic design classes.. If you can afford school then go for Art Institute. They specificially focus on graphic design .. a lot of people from there go into auto design for the actual cars and prototypes.
I coudlnt go .. financial aid wasnt available as much as i needed

Re: Major In College (important)

Hey,
I dont know maybe its different in your country but CS here have only one course of graphics and if you want to continue studying graphics you should take courses after college or something

And yeah I agree that If I wanted pure graphics I should have gone to Arts faculty...but unluckly the private university im at doesnt have that major and neither any private ones.

There is only the government universities that have this amjor and I cant do an external transfere from a private university to a governmental one.

Although I enrolled in private university fro the begining because I will be taking two BA's in any major one from egypt and one from britan.

So that is a good thing....thanks for reply anyway
