Re: Mercury retrograde in Aquarius
My apologies for self-referencing, but I think it would be a very good time to study the business and government of astrology, applying some vision to the question: How do we solve a problem like Luna - the first person to be born off-planet. Can a valid chart be constructed for someone born on the Moon or Mars, or is this the end of astrology as we know it? This event will quite possibly happen this century and could perhaps mark the entry of astrology into the Aquarian age.

Re: Mercury retrograde in Aquarius
4leaf, I dont think that this star has any influence whatsoever. We hardly or never use stars in natal astrology, it is all too vague and very scarcely investigated. Whoever came to say that this star has to do with astrology, occult etc. must have had their self-figured-out reasons, but honestly just forget about all these stars. It makes things way to chaotic. There is enough in a natal chart to focus on, even without things like Chiron and Lillith (I never even look at this one) and only in horary astrology the meaning of certain stars could influence the outcome, of which Caput Algol is the most significant malific star and Betelgeuse and a few others, benefic.
So to come back to the question, I would only consider Mercury retrograde in Aquarius, and then actually only at the significance of Mercury being retrograde.
Mercury is the planet of reasoning ability, the mind and communication.
When it is retro, the thinking process seems deeper and more sensitive. There is some innate ability to relate to other people's feelings and thoughts making you less likely tojump to conclusions. Expressing yourself in writing might be easier at this time, then verbally.
All things to do with communication can undergo temporary delays . Faxes can be sent to the wrong person, letters or packages dont arrive on time or were sent to the wrong address, things like that.
In Aquarius, being an air sign as well, there could be more delays in airtrafic and problems with electrical appliences and especially computer problems.Things like that.
Then of course you must look in which house Aquarius falls in your chart. There it is where you could undergo temporary problems.
I personally never feel anything when Mercury goes retrograde and can have just as many problems with Mercury direct. I have computer problems sometimes for month on end, not being able to get into the internet etc.
I think people who's MC and Asc. are ruled by Mercury should feel the difference much stronger.

Re: Mercury retrograde in Aquarius
Hi,
I think the position in your chart that is being transited by a mercury retrograde gives the best indication as to the areas of life that will be most affected. Mercury begins its retrograde phase at 22.deg Aquarius.it leaves a trine to mars, which is stationary direct at 24 gemini, so mercurial matters are very much in focus.
In 7 days time, on feb 07, there is a solar eclipse and mercury is very much a part of things that day, being conjoined to the sun at 17 deg Aquarius.Although mercury is leaving the conjunction to neptune, it is still within orb of neptune so I can see the ingredients of a very confusing day, culminating in an eclipse. The aspects that day are quite phenomenal actually.
By 14th Feb, mercury will have retrograded to 10 deg Aquarius. It will then be sesisquadrate mars, an uneasy aspect and the moon will square it that day.
When mercury resumes direct motion on 19th Feb, it will be at 8deg Aquarius, stopping short of a conjunction to venus (refranation?)
The moon will oppose mercury that day.
On the 21st Feb there is a lunar eclipse, at 1 degree pisces.By 27th feb venus catches up to mercury and thus begins the formation of a powerful stellium in Aquarius...the node, neptune chiron mercury venus- quite a line-up.
Most definitely will technology feel the effects of this particular mercury retrograde cycle. Computers will be particularly a focus I think.
<sigh>

Re: Mercury retrograde in Aquarius
Actually, Mercury stops right before my Jupiter/Mars midpoint. I don't know if this is significant or not.I guess I will have to wait and see!

I think its interesting how merc stops short of contacting venus then later, venus makes the move to mercury! Should result in some interesting horary discussions over the next 3 weeks!
Cheers

LOL As if the government couldn't move any slower! Oh boy! Hope nobody needs to deal with this element because surely they'll lose our paperwork and the computers will be down.
