Re: Saturn in the Air Signs/Houses

You just feel in love with Liz Green, didn't you?

Well I have Saturn in Aquarius.I wouldn't say I have a disciplined mind, even though I have Saturn sextile Mercury/Moon.But I wholeheartdy agree with the part about finding it hard to communicate with others, not so much because I can't deal with words(what3rd house Mercury can't deal with the spoken/written word?)but only because my1st house Saturn makes me extremely self-conscious in social(once again, the Air function)situations. It's funny the effect Saturn has-I've seen people with charts loaded with Earth energy who had Saturn in Earth and their sense of responsability and organisation was there, but they were unable to manifest it in the real world,I've also seen people with lots of Water energy and Saturn in water who had loads and loads of repressed emotions.

Re: Saturn in the Air Signs/Houses

Hi Shining!

I also fell under Liz Greene's spell - her writing is really something... and her insights amazing. I understood so much about myself by reading her Saturn book. So as far as I'm concerned, quote away!!

I also received "The Astrology of Fate" last week which deals with the outer planets. Fascinating as well, though I wish she had devoted one book each on the three outers. Oh well.

It's interesting that as a 5th house Saturn I married someone with Saturn in Leo. (This did not turn out well.) And I hear what you are saying about the house being more noticable than the corresponding sign. You may be on to something there, but there are elements that overlap.

Here is a quote I like from the chapter Fate and the Self (from Astrology of Fate):

'The events of 'real' life and the flow of inner images are both regulated in some mysterious fashion by the Self, and the 'stuff' of which both inner and outer experiences are fashioned is symbolized by the horoscope. Sometimes the manifestation is as an outer event, sometimes as an inner image; and even in considering the world of concrete happenings, two apparently opposite happenings can be described by the same astrological configuration. Thus, one man may experience marriage under the transit of Saturn over Venus, while another may find himself divorcing. The intrinsic meaning is the same: it is a coming to terms with the reality of the other person, and a collision between the ideals of love and differentness of the partner. But these two disparate circumstances, one often 'happy' and the other often 'unhappy', are individually tailored for a perfect fit depending on the individual. It would seem that this thing Jung calls the Self makes its arrangements using the astrological chart as a weaver uses his threads.

I sometimes feel that it is towards this end that the astrologer's, as well as the analyst's, work is directed: that the individual might gradually discover, come to terms with, and give his utmost to that totality of which the horoscope is the tool, the individual the vessel, and the Self the creator. This is a highly subjective issue and it will be obvious that it is a realm where statistics, although useful elsewhere, have no place."

This is really just a snippet picked out at random, but I find it awesome. There is something generous and soothing in the way she presents these issues that make me impatient with the narrowness that sometimes marks the reading of a chart by someone who might just let his ego get in the way of his interpretation. Astrology is all about finding the truth, isn't it. And not about superimposing some kind of artificial structure on a chart where such and such has to mean this or that. It can mean the usual thing, but it can also be so much more, or less, depending on the person's own frame of reference. It's about the whole architecture, not just one dark little room.
