Dignities & Detriments books?

Hi!

Can anyone recommend an easy to understand book on Dignities and Detriments of planets? Where the planets fall in the houses and signs?

Many thanks!

Neptune

Re: Dignities & Detriments books?

Hi Neptune.

I think pretty much any decent book on the basics of astrology would list a table of planetary dignities.

If you're a beginner, I would recommend starting to explore horary, which will really get you familiar with dignities, debilities, receptions etc. A very good book for beginner's is John Frawley's 'The Horary Textbook'. Everything about each type of dignity and debility is detailed.

For now, perhaps you could refer to this chart?:

Re: Dignities & Detriments books?

You may want to pick up some traditional Astrology books while your at it. The ones I offer on my website cover dignities and debilities, as well as Christian Astrology by William Lilly also does. Its not a very hard system to get down. Most modern books, because they are modern Astrology, tend to neglect the dignity and debility system. A list of the books I offer are found;

http://antiquus.50webs.com/Library.html

I would specifically recommend the one by Claudius Dariot and the one by Oger Ferrier, both of which include what you are looking for. Hope that helps.

Re: Dignities & Detriments books?

Many thanks astro.teacher!

The one by Oger Ferrier definately looks like one I can get into, after payday! Its a shame not too many modern books go into debilities/dignaties, they add so much more meaning to a chart.

Indeed. I was going to say this, if you want to get into horary, you could really do with a copy of this.

True, and this is a great shame indeed.

Hello Nilka

Our Sun and Ascendants conjunct both ways! Your Ascendant is Capricorn?

And Sun is Sagitarius? I'm just guessing, is your Sun in 12th house?

I've read Midheaven in Libra means its good for us to express ourselves outwardly, possibly in career as affectionate, tolerant, maybe indecisive, appreciate beauty and balance. This is true for me, I hate a disharmonious work environment. I'm always trying to make the place look nice and balanced. And trying to make the people around me balanced too and harmonious too. This doesn't always work
