Merc Rx Relationship Confusion
Does Mercury Retrograde normally cause confusion when it comes to relationships? I don't know what Mercury is affecting for me, but since the shadow period started I've been having confusion in my previously, great, relationship. My boyfriend has been saying things that have upset me since it started, like telling me about past hookups he's had. I don't know why it's bothering me, but it is. Now I'm questioning my relationship that was perfectly fine before the shadow period, and perfectly fine before he told me about these things. When I try to think about whether or not I want to be with him or how or why I feel the way I do, my thoughts just seemed clouded and I feel confused. Am I maybe just taking those things the wrong way because of the Retrograde phase? Does this confusion tend to happen where relationships are involved and does it usually become better afterwards? I don't want something as stupid as this to ruin something good. I just don't know how to move past knowing these things about him, where previously he told me certain things and I never minded.
P.s. I've had an astrologer look at our synastry and charts, and was informed that we have favorable aspects. Our Synastry is a bit off here and there, but our composite is as smooth as butter, with a grand earth trine. We have the following aspects in synastry in case anyone is curious:

Asc/Desc and MC/IC’s reversed, or complimentary
his Jupiter in conj. with my Asc
my Jupiter sextiles his 7th cusp and trines his Asc
my Moon in Capricorn conjoins his Uranus/Neptune
His Moon conjoins my N. Node and sextiles my Saturn (widely sextile my Sun)
my Venus trines his Mercury
his Venus is within range of the conjunction with my Pluto, but (fortunately) out of sign
His Mars in Gemini, sextiles my Asc. and trines my Desc., sextiles my Venus, trines my Jupiter, and widely squares my Mercury
Bad Aspects:
my Sun in Aq. (Air) is in (almost) exact sq. to his Sun in Scorpio (Water), which involves his pluto in my 4th house, and squares my saturn
my venus squares his uranus/neptune
my mars is opposite his uranus/neptune
