This is just a cursory glance at the charts. Your composite chart has a lot of squares, a lot of challenges. There is certainly work to be done. There is always hard work to be done in relationships, and I see nothing that says this one cannot work.
When I look at the natal charts, it tells us more. You are undergoing a
very challenging transit from Pluto to your Saturn-Jupiter opposition since April, when it stationed retrograde within less than a half a degree from exact. Pluto, lord of the underworld and transformation, will be cycling to your natal Saturn through the end of next year. And angular Saturn [conjunct Neptune] opposite angular Jupiter all have very strong influence in your chart in the arenas of home, love, matters very close to you.
To me this would be the time to garner all the support, stability and nurturing you can find for yourself and your son to see you through this highly transformational time in your life. And I do not think it is fair or kind to your son to take him from his father because he seems boring or without passion. With parenthood, as well as long term committed relationship, may come boredom and often lack of passion. Pluto to Saturn demands authentic and deeply-felt maturity.
