Lightbulb Do your natal midpoints describe you well?

So I've been exploring midpoints more recently and have found some interesting things that I relate strongly to. I don't know if that's because they echo other existing themes in my natal chart but it's interesting to explore.

One example, I have a direct midpoint of mars conjunct my moon/pluto midpoint in the 8th and one description I found here (http://johnsandbach.com/?page_id=7243) was this:

Quote:
To assert oneself with extreme emotional intensity. The tendency to externalize and/or project onto others one’s deepest emotional conflicts. The overpowering urge to externalize one’s feelings.
This is very true to me, especially the last two lines. In fact something I've realised is that often when I'm upset about something, not angry per se, but upset, feelings of anger are the first to come up and it's as if I need to break through and release that anger before I access my deeper feelings - which, once accessed, are surprisingly deep.

This could also be explained by the fact that I have mars conjunct moon and my mars is also conjunct saturn and widely pluto, so there's an initial holding back and a wall of anger that needs to be breached before I access pain and express sadness rather than anger.

Do you have midpoint pictures in your natal chart that really speak to you and fit you well? Care to share them?

P.S. you can generate midpoint pictures on astro.com, which someone kindly told me about recently on this forum: Extended Chart Selection > Chart Drawing Style (drop down list) > Ebertin style (w. midpoints). This will generate a midpoint chart and if you then select Show Additional Tables at the top of the chart, you will see the midpoint pictures/aspects...

Re: Do your natal midpoints describe you well?

I don't know much about how midpoints effects work in the birth chart, but they are a subject I want to know more about.

I worked out that my Moon/Pluto midpoint is at 19 degrees :saggitarius: This makes it conjunct my Saturn and Uranus, opposing my ascendant and chiron, and trine my North Node. Plus a couple of other minor aspects. I'm not sure how they would play out in a chart, but it is interesting nonetheless.

I do find that natal contacts to midpoints accurately reflect me. And I particularly had through much of my life the same emotional experience of anger first, then the truth of pain and sadness later. Natal Saturn is at the midpoint of Moon-Pluto, and natal Moon is at the midpoint of Mars-Pluto and Mars-Saturn.

However, similar to you, I have Mars widely conjunct Moon-Saturn-Pluto. So it is hard to tell if these midpoints are not just a reiteration of the natal positions. Also had a mother who was anger first, with Moon in Capricorn trined by Saturn in Virgo and squared by Pluto in Cancer. The family inheritance. I do think that natal contacts to midpoints, especially the direct ones by conjunction or opposition, can paint a much fuller portrait of what we have been given in this life.

Re: Do your natal midpoints describe you well?

When a planet conjuncts a midpoint of two or more other planets, it is important because it adds flavor and spice to the planet. And yes, some midpoints do seem to reflect the planet placements or an "inheritance".

My Sun-Moon midpoint is in Gemini in my 8th house, an accurate reflection of the combination of Virgo Sun and Scorpio rising. No planets there or in aspect, however.

I have a bunch of midpoints conjunct my Mercury (Asc-MC, Asc-Pluto, Asc-Venus, Mars-Venus, Mars-Pluto). Hugely important. All of those energies funnel through the Mercury function ... communications (which was my business for many years) and thought (often skeptical, for instance).

Some other midpoints just kind of sit there and do nothing; they are nowhere near to aspecting any planets, and are not "sensitive points".

But obviously, if two planets square one another, their midpoint will be at a 45 degree angle, which is also rather stressful. Two trining planets will midpoint in a sextile aspect to both. And so on. I think it's more interesting to look at midpoints of planets that form no natal aspect to one another... and see what you come up with. (For instance, my Neptune and Mercury have no aspect, but their midpoint is closely square my natal Uranus.)

It's a fascinating subject! If you really want to get into it, the Uranian astrologers are very much into midpoints as well as semi-related phenomena like anticia points. More tools for the kit.

Thanks for all of the replies, very interesting to see who identifies with their midpoint aspects and which ones in particular, especially since some don't consider them in natal chart analysis.

I'm particularly interested in who identifies - as you said Judy - with planets in hard aspect to midpoints that aren't otherwise in aspect in one's chart. For instance, I have Sun exactly square Pluto/Ascendant and Pluto and my ASC aren't in aspect (and my Sun is only in minor aspect to Pluto, an exact bi-quintile) and yet this fits me very well, so it fills a hole by way of an explanation, which is interesting.

I am beginning to think that midpoints do add an important layer to natal work. I look forward to hearing from others on this and your experiences
