British Summer Time & Birth Charts

Hi

I was born on the 4th Oct. 1982 @ 00.35am. BST was in place meaning, in real time (gmt) i was born on 3rd Oct.1982 @ 23.35pm!

Do online chart calculators automatically make the hourly adjustment for BST?

I always thought my asc was Leo and this fits very well for me but taking BST out of the calcualtion i'm a cancer asc! and my houses also change.

can someone help me with figuring out this dilemma!?

Hi ohlala82 - some time ago Alice McDermott posted a calculation sheet for how to calculate a natal chart without using a computer. These calculations produce a natal chart that is for a specific locality at "sundial time" and not at "clock time". "Clock time" governs a wide area because it is standardised and takes no account of true local time aka actual local time aka sundial time.

The method is useful to know if you (a) need to compare your calculations with those of a computer to check that the software is correct. Not all astrological software is accurate. or (b) for those times when a computer is not available

Re: British Summer Time & Birth Charts

The house position of planets is entirely dependent on the house system chosen and there are over forty to choose from... astro.com provides fourteen different alternatives. There's some explanation of the reasons why there are so many different house systems at http://www.librarising.com/astrology...ignhouses.html

An important consideration is whether or not an ascendant is accurate - i.e. whether or not you have an accurate time of birth - most are 'out' by ten, fifteen, twenty minutes, even half an hour, an hour or more dependent on the circumstances
