Stressed by Uranus opposition, need vocational help
Hi all,
I'm 42 and feeling stressed by Uranus opposition, it feels like it's urging me in a career change that I'm sorta needing from some time now.
I would like to hear some opinions about possible new careers. To get a deeper and wider range of opinions, I would like to make this in two parts.
First, I would like to hear unbiased opinions based solely in my natal chart.
Then I will provide my biography, so that we can explore the possibilities in context.
Here is the data:
Daniel, born April 13, 1970, 18:40, in Tandil, Argentina (37°19′S 59°08′W)
This should give you a 27° 29' Libra Ascendant.
Hope someone wants to play.
Cheers,
Daniel

Can you post your chart? That really is the etiquette on Internet astrology forums. Try www.astro.com .

I'm sorry I didn't knew this was established netiquette, thanks for the hint. Sorry also for posting in the Vocational sub-forum.
Here it goes attached.
Cheers,

Re: Stressed by Uranus opposition, need vocational help
Your very strong moon in Cancer rules your 10th house of career and is located in your 10th house. This would suggest to me a career in teaching or education administration. Note that teaching covers a huge range of students' ages (3 or 4 through older adult) and topics (early childhood, vocational-technical, workshops, various subject areas) and formats (classroom, on-line, field trips, &c.)
If you are in some other occupation, think about whether your current job allows you opportunity for advancement. You don't necessarily need a new employer, maybe just more challenge and variety in what you do. If you are self-employed, maybe you are ready to modify or expand your business in some way.
With your sun square moon, you may always feel some restlessness about your career, so don't expect it to vanish!
Uranus is not only about restlessness, but is about how liberated we are as human beings. Uranus transits can definitely be the "seven year itch" but it is important realistically to think through past the transit to what life would look like out the other side. Sometimes it is possible to make changes to an existing job, rather than to go back to university and then start a brand new career in mid-life.
Above all, now is a good time to introduce some harmless novelty into your daily life. Do somethings that seem out-of-character! With so many planets in Taurus, you probably appreciate stability. But now is a good time to cut loose a little bit.
I note that transiting Saturn in Libra is just now hitting your ascendant and opposing your sun. So you may feel an overwhelming sense of duty, hard-work, and a reward/stress ratio that is not working for you. Chucking it all may seem very enticing with Uranus whispering in your ear, but Saturn is a planet of solid, material realism. So try to use him to advantage, as well.

Re: Stressed by Uranus opposition, need vocational help
Thanks waybread,
I'm a software engineer working as developer in a government agency, my current job pays well but after 13 years I feel like I need fresh air.
I did some part time college level teaching in the last five years but quit because I could not make a living out of that.
I got married last year and we are looking for a baby, I guess that counts as "some harmless novelty into my life".
But I keep dreaming of doing something else, teaching would be nice but harder to pay the bills and the academic world is one of ferocious competitivity.
Do you think my chart shows an employee or a self-employed, what positions would you look for that ?
Thanks,
Daniel

Re: Stressed by Uranus opposition, need vocational help
With your sun in Aries, I think you want a lot of independence in your life. But I don't see a lot of risk-taking in the rest of your chart. You have four planets in Taurus, a sign that loves stability and material comfort. Your strong moon in Cancer craves emotional security.
If you have a good government job that pays the bills, possibly it is a good idea to hold onto it. As you know, many people in business for themselves (as engineering consultants, for example) are constantly scrambling to find the next job.
University teaching should pay reasonably well if you have a job that comes with academic tenure, or if you start out on a tenure-track junior appointment and can successfully pass your tenure requirements. You will need a Ph. D., however. If you have to go back to university to get one, the pay is terrible and the hours are long! The availability of tenure will vary depending upon where you live-- I don't how how Argentinian universities function, if you are still in Argentina. But yes, it is a very competitive environment! (I am a retired academic.) However, tenured faculty have a lot of job security.
Maybe your best bet is to focus on non-career areas of your life that allow you to express your Aries need for challenge and independence. This might be through sports. For example, you might volunteer on your weekends with a sports club for disadvantaged boys. This should combine your Cancerian parental nature, your martial, Arian nature, and your sun in the 6th house of service.
Also, you may have some "wiggle room" in your job. Are you able to seek a promotion within your agency? If you are due for a holiday, maybe you and your wife are ready for some adventure tourism.
Note also, that Uranus transits come and go. You need to express more liberation in your life right now. But the transit will pass, and you want to make sure you have made changes that will support the rest of your life.

Re: Stressed by Uranus opposition, need vocational help
You are awesome...
That's a dichotomy that follows me from my teenage years, I want independence, but I need stability, security and some comfort.
Private univs here are easier to enter but pay cheap, public ones pay decent but you must contest to enter and get into research churning papers to keep your position.
By the way, learning more is not a problem, I'm finishing a Master degree and just starting another post-degree, my Jupiter asc pushes me to read everything and be up to date.
But perhaps there are other areas I can get into teaching, your suggestion of volunteering is welcomed, there are lot of teenagers dropping out of high school and perhaps there is some way to help there.
I also have a strong interest in astrology, but never did more that a handful of chart readings for friends, as I don't feel too confident yet. Perhaps I have to take it as a part time hobby instead of thinking of it as a full time job.
Thanks for all of your help.
Cheers,
Daniel
