I was just re-reading this, and it occurs to me that Tomkins' premise may not be correct. The Moon isn't always clingy (in Fire and Air signs/houses, for instance), and Uranus isn't always coldly independent (if it's in Water signs or making a lot of aspects in the chart to the point where its energy is much modified).
A square aspect between the two is still difficult, especially in one's early years. Just saying....
