Can a fixed sign square a cardinal sign? Confused

Hi everyone,
I read in my beginning astrology book that only a cardinal sign squares another cardinal sign, e.g., aries squares cancer, capricorn, etc., and the same principle applies to the fixed and mutable signs.
However, in my asrodienst chart, it clearly says that my sun in taurus (5th house) squares my moon in capricorn (2nd house). How can this happen if if only fixed signs square other fixed signs?
My astro.com chart doesn't show a sun square moon in the natal chart. No red lines from the sun to the moon there. What is going on here? Did the astrodienst chart make a mistake?

This is whats knows as a "hidden aspect" accourding to some. It happens with one planet is at the end of a sign and the other is at the beginning but they are still in orb of an aspect.

So yes it is possible, and i'm not sure if there is anything special about it, i would imagine it would help soften the squares effects somewhat. Yours is also a pretty wide orb, but it is the sun/moon after all.

Ah, I believe this is what is known as a disassociate aspect; you may wish to type this keyword into search to find more information about it

Thanks to both of you for the information. I'm still a beginner in astrology, and see that I have much more to learn. The Only Way to Learn Astrology book doesn't even mention this.
By the way, can anyone recommend some good books on aspects?

Are you looking for a book that will give you a detailed description of a certain aspect between two or more planets, or a more general description of the nature of a particular aspect, such as the conjunction, opposition, trine, square, sextile, etc.?

Thanks for the reply. At this time, I'd be mostly interested in a general description of the aspects, but you could mention a few good books that go into more depth.

Interesting disassociate aspect, never heard that. The book i have that gives a really interesting and detailed desciption of aspects calls them "hidden aspects" but was written in the mid 70's so the terms probably changed (i doubt you would be able to find it anywhere, such amazing writing...).

Well anyway until Arian is back online... if you want a really good book to blossum into a more experienced astrologer, i would recommend: Parker's Astrology The Essential Guide to Useing Astrology in Your Daily Life by: Julia and Derek Parker. As it says it is pretty much a definitive guide to i think all the branches of Astrology (not sure on that one). It even gives interpretations of tranists/progressions and horary. You can draw your own charts if you're really into Astrology . The descriptions are based on alot of observations and are unbiased and people seem to identify with them more then some books i have. The only bad thing is they lump together positive/negative aspects, but conj is separate. It's basically a textbook lol.

Dane Rudhyar and Leyla Rael's "Astrological Aspects" is a close runner up, it approaches aspects from a very different, but equally enlightening, approach.

Bil approaches aspects from their zodiacal correspondences and provides detailed interpretations of many aspect configurations. Dane and Leyla approach aspects from a holistic process-oriented approach and focuses on explaining the process rather than specific interpretations.

Michael Meyer, a student of Dane's, has produced an online overview of the 36 primary aspects, which he has called "The Eon" - It is essentially a refined, and condensed/less detailed/easier to grasp presentation of Dane's approach to aspect analysis. Michael decided to share this work, and many others, on Khaldea.com.
