How to learn and use predictive astrology?
Hi, I'm new here, and fairly new to astrology.
I'm trying to understand how to learn and use predictive astrology. I've looked at enough things in hindsight and noticed there's some very real correlations between transits and things that have happened in my life, both on a short term (weekly) and longer term (multi-monthly or yearly) basis. Not so much events, but more things like increased/decreased motivation, romantic inclinations, mood changes, etc.
However, I've not quite figured out how to use this in a predictive fashion. On the one hand, there's the very generalized interpretations of transits, like: "Sun (Tau) Opp natal (Sco) Pluto: Energy representing spirit, ego, image of self, and sense of aliveness opposes and creates tension with the person's destiny, and capacity to transform the self and the outer world. Balance is needed."
On the other hand, there's more specific interpretations that associate to a particular area of life, but are inherently less accurate when they do that. Things could manifest wherever... e.g., power struggles could occur at work, in a relationship, etc.
So, I'm trying to figure out how to get a better "feeling" so that I can see something like "Sun opp natal Pluto" and understand what that means. Likewise for progressions, etc. I'd like to have a much more instinctive and intuitive understanding of all of this, so that I'm not trying to interpret interpretations, if that makes any sense.
In the end, I'm just not really sure how to learn predictive astrology...
Any advice?

Re: How to learn and use predictive astrology?
i learned about transits through rob hand's ~ planets in transit. then i did what you did ~ looked at circumstances/themes/events in my life. when you can correlate external events to transits and internal events to progressions, you get a better understanding of how the planets play out while passing through the chart ~
mostly, it requires studying your chart & others charts for things that have already occurred and work from there.

Re: How to learn and use predictive astrology?
In addition to the transit book recommended above, try Charles Carter's "Symbolic Directions in Modern Astrology", very useful for understanding simple symbolic porgressions, which is frequently a useful and accurate predictive method (one of the several methods available; other predictive methods, usually more complex, include secondary directions, primary directions, Solar Returns, firdaria, dasa periods {Vedic astrology} and profections)

Re: How to learn and use predictive astrology?
Personally, I use transits of the outer planets for major themes first. Then I look at progressions, converse progressions, solar return and lunar return in that order. I am an astronumerologist and have a section on predictive astrology on my website which goes into further detail.
