Pisces Rising ?

I don't want to sound redundant here, I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I am somewhat new to astrology and even more new to my Birth time. Both Parents only just agreed that I was born in the after noon after Lunch but before Tea time (we are English so that probably means after One o'clock until about 4pm.)

My birth date is November 29th 1985 Born in Kowloon, Hong kong.

I seem to be baffled about my rising sign. Since it could be one of a possible 3 things It's hard to know, But I have somewhat concluded recently that it must be Pisces or Aries around the cusp of Pisces. I seem to have suffered a rather sensitive dreamy affliction over the course of my life that has been problematic. I could not concentrate in school and I suffered a lot of bullying. The only things I ever excelled in or took an interest in school were Music, Art and English (the writing part). I started to play an instrument at age Five which I chose and that I felt passionate about. I was often caught staring out of a window and unable to concentrate and had somewhat of a hyper active nature about me. I am selective about friends because I am very shy and I seem to be drawn to people who are very light as I find dark heavy energy to be quite intolerable and not one I particularly understand. As an Adult I seem to be growing more introverted and more prone to attacks of negative stimuli around me. I have suffered also a lot of Trauma in my life, mainly teenage years and seem to be dealing with the consequences of that. Easily hurt and feelings of being threatened and prone to paranoia as though my privacy isn't respected or threatened. But underneath I am actually quite bubbly and enjoy silly humour.

I assumed that I was Aries rising and that my scorpio Venus is what made me romantic and artistic. And maybe that is so. But my sensitivity seems to also be quite on the surface, and once I open up and get to know people I can be a typical SAG and blurting things out and being kinda blunt. I have found that with people with Sun in Pisces (both of my parents) to be flakey and irritating. It wasn't until my ex boyfriend, who was very into astrology pointed out that outwardly I did not come across as an Aries but More like A cancer (or I guess something watery). In social situations I always need to have a buddy that I know well to hang on to which makes me feel safe. And I am prone to feeling overly shy and unsafe. I have also had a problem in the past, in jobs, where I am told to go and find something and would always come back empty handed. Then someone would come with me to find it and it would be right infront of me. I have been told Pisces don't seem to see the things that are right infront of them, and maybe this can also mean in a very literal sense? lol.

It is hard for me to be around those in pain as I am prone to absorb it (especially very dark, heavy energy) but maybe this is something else as well that causes this. From what I gather sensitivity runs in my family. (Especially my dad, but my mother is also somewhat of a psychic and intuitive person.)

Are these Pisces traits or the possibility of something else in my chart?

Perhaps if you posted your chart it may make it easier to see other aspects that might be at play here...

There are threads here that discuss the Ascendant and appearance...so perhaps they may help you in determining your correct rising sign.

There are also ways of determining your correct time of birth and therefore Ascendant... I am unsure of what those are, but there are some experts here that might be able to help you.

Pisces rising…

I feel there is somewhat of an elusive quality to it… I can only share my personal experience, as a Pisces Ascendant.

I can tend to get lost in the people around me… It’s difficult to explain… It is almost like I absorb some of their energy, and I can adapt or change to be like them. Almost like a shape-shifter quality. It is not conscious, it just happens.

I guess that can be perceived as a positive and a negative. It allows me to blend in to many situations, and fit in with a diverse range of people. However, the down-side, is that sometimes you can lose yourself too… who am I?

Another thing, on the topic of shape-shifting… on a physical level… I have been told that in photos, sometimes I don’t look like myself. I have read this also, that Pisces Rising can look almost like a different person sometimes, in photographs. Weird.

When people first meet me, I know I come across as very Piscean. I am quiet, gentle and accommodating. I think I also look somewhat Piscean. Although, some of the physical traits I have read are not 100% me… I figure they will never be exact, and my Sag Sun surely has something to say about that too!

Some people will mistake me as being shy or aloof, but I’m not… I am just observing, sitting back and taking it all in. Absorbing, I guess. I do tend to absorb others energy, which can be challenging. Especially if there is pain there, like you said too… Feeling that pain or darkness… it is difficult and quite draining to me.

So, initially I appear quite placid, however my fiery Sagittarian nature soon comes out. Depending on the circumstances, it can take a little while before people see it! I am very friendly, although it can take a little while to come out!

I am certainly a dreamer, and do a lot of day-dreaming, but I don’t know that is strictly Pisces rising. I have Neptune right up the top of my chart, conjunct my MC, and conjunct my Sun, so I believe that has a lot to do with it! I love to create stories and scenarios… I have a vivid imagination.

I notice, based on the chart you attached, with Aries Rising, you also have Neptune conjunct MC. Perhaps this could have something to do with the Piscean traits you exhibit?

You also mentioned that you had a difficult childhood/teen years? I have read that Pisces rising can experience this, although, this was not my experience… just another thought.

So, I hope some of that made sense. I don’t know whether that will help you out, at all… it is just my experience as Pisces Rising! Oh no, it is so long and rambling…sorry if it is too much!

This is all very interesting! Thanks for your response - it is all helping to get me closer to what my rising sign is.

It is interesting what you mentioned about the Mercury conjunct neptune - perhaps this is why I exibit Piscean qualities - I do find that around Pisces people I have to be quite gentle and delicate with the way I say things, Since I can be quite strong and blunt. But it is hard to say since bluntness is a characteristic of being a sag, but also an Aries. I have been told I am far too impatient and have a swift walk to me, as they say Aries do, but I find this comes out when I get to know someone. Usually on the surface I am like you, I tend to sit back and absorb a situation, and even prefer to observe than part-take at times. Talking In a group of people isn't something that comes easily to me, and I find I get to know someone more based on how I "feel" and the energy I get from that person, than what they are saying to me. I have always been a believer in non-verbal communication for this reason, and I like for people to pick up on subtle clues and hints the way I do, and I can find it quite irritating and tiresome when people don't. But I am also compassionate in this way, I don't like to judge too harshly and I like to allow people to be, expecially if they're letting me be me.

It is interesting tho, because my ex was a Gemini with Moon in Pisces, and I didn't find that he was particularly sensitive in the way I am. He seems to be quite emotionally sensitive, but I am not sure if that sensitivity goes to a psychic intuitive level. Subtlety isn't his strong point, and things often have to be overly explicit which somehow seemed opposite to my way of communicating. I also found that with him, I would have to watch what I said, because feelings good easily become hurt, but he said the same thing about me so I dunno, hehe. I guess that is one of the dilemmas of being something that is so opposite to Pisces.

I have found that a lot of my problems are within the family, feeling like I have to compromise myself in order to be accepted and loved. It's funny that you say you have a fast walk, as I do too! Perhaps it is not strictly Arian, but related to Fire signs... I don't know... I say this because I used to share a house with an Aries and a Leo (imagine 3 Fire Suns!!!), and we ALL walked fast! Haha! I just thought that was a funny thing... when we were all together, people would comment how fast we all walked! My Aries flat mate was going out with a Pisces Sun girl who walked so slow and dreamy! Ha!

Anyway, back to the topic at hand...

You say you "feel" peoples energy, rather than listening to what they say. I am like this also. I tend to gather my perceptions on someone based on what I "feel" from them. I read that this is a Pisces rising trait (maybe it was even mentioned in that thread I posted above). It sounds like you are indeed sensitive. Could you relate to anything that was said in that thread?

It sounds like you had a challenging childhood; I'm sorry to hear that.
I had a pretty good childhood, I guess.
I would spend a lot of time playing on my own, as I only had brothers when I was younger (my sisters didn't come along until much later). I had a vivid imagination, and had no trouble entertaining myself, and making up stories and re-enacting them! I don't know; I guess all kids can be like this!
I could be invisible or just blend in...like, maybe people didn't know I was there.

I was also extremely shy as a kid. I didn't like being around people I didn't know; especially rowdy, boisterous types! I am still a bit like that, but have learnt to deal with it better. I would get "feelings" from people and alot of them I didn't like!

I guess I would feel alone sometimes, even though I had a big family, I sometimes felt "different"... and still do now. Although, in saying that, I would retreat to my room, to be on my own a lot. I enjoyed being alone (and still do!). So, even though I occasionally feel alone or different, for the most part I am happy with that, and actually enjoy it!

So...that's all I can think of for now!
