Did I fail the test of Saturn? (Career)
Hello!!
(Many thanks in advance)
For the past few years, I have gotten the astrological glue beaten out of me. Saturn traipsed through my 7th H, then 8th (meeting my Sun) and now it is past my Midheaven, about to leave Libra. I also have Uranus opposing 9th H. That has just sort of just begun and won't reach an exact opposition for a while but I have felt some effects. Especially when it first entered my 3rd house.
I am at a complete loss as to what is going on... In the past 6 months I quit a somewhat high profile writing/PR job with great pay because I felt it was eating away at my soul. I worked for that co for over 5 years but I was depressed, complaining daily to friends. I would come alive at home and on weekends and holidays. At work, by 2pm I got a migraine...daily. I was stressed, unmotivated and felt like I was just stuck. I stayed like that for well over a year. Finally in July (we can thank the eclipse for that) I had enough and chose my happiness over material security. I resigned. I was able to find something fairly fast but that only lasted about 2 months, being laid-off due to their financial issues. I did find holiday work but that is over.
Today, I am frantically searching for work. I have no savings. Nothing (I've learned my lesson here). I have gone on a few interviews (when they come up, I say no to nothing) but no decisions have been made...lots of dragging feet. I am applying left and right. I have even tried to branch out on my own but that hasn't taken me very far. I am stressed. Not unhappy per se...just stressed. Worried.
And I don't know what to do. The thought of finding something makes me sad. Because I don't know what I want to do or should be doing. I also don't want to be in the same position where my soul isn't nourished. It's not fair all the way around. But I have to eat. And pay rent. So this is why I now will yes to anything.
Does anyone see something that might help me? I currently do PT writing from home which I do like but have trouble getting motivated at times. But still...it happens. I'm not sure if that will ever turn into FT work...it might but not certain. All in all, toward work, I lack motivation. Every act is like pulling teeth for me. I read that if you fail the tests of Saturn, you will know. Well, today I feel like a big failure. I listened to my heart and now am in this spot. I also read Pluto transiting 1st H can lead to career changes and it has but I'm not really sure how this plays out other than right when Pluto was at 1 degree Cap, I met an older woman who became a career mentor for me. At first I bucked the notion and then allowed things to happen and it worked out well until I resigned.
Any help or insight toward these Saturn or Pluto transits is appreciated. Or even Jupiter to 4th House. Kind of excited about this but if I move again, I will be shocked. I've moved 3x in less than a year, although I DO have the extreme desire to live elsewhere. I'm just really scared.
Blessings...

Re: Did I fail the test of Saturn? (Career)
I don't use the default house system. Uranus is in your 4th house which cause UNEXPECTED changes in home and home life and your attitude toward home. Jupiter is entering 5th house helping spur creativity and romance. Saturn's energy is being felt in your 11th house now of friends/groups/broad goals. Jupiter is opposing Saturn right now which is helping mitigate Saturn's heaviness. A career dealing with other people's resources or death is noted. Maybe investment, doing stuff with people's assets (homes, cars, etc.), being a mortician, a detective, forensics, research. Saturn made you aware that you need to find a new direction in life. So you didn't fail anything.

Re: Did I fail the test of Saturn? (Career)
It is interesting that your Saturn is unaspected. (I would discount that wide trine from Neptune.) If you think of your self and your planets as a committee, some of them get along famously, some of them quarrel but at least they relate to one another. Saturn is like a loner, who probably doesn't even attend most of the committee meetings, and who isn't on the others' wavelength when he does speak.
The key is to learn Saturn's lessons. (Maybe you have done so already?) Patience, hard work, getting by with very little, deferred gratification, and all the rest of those dour, old-fashioned virtues. Saturn is the antithesis of wishful thinking. If you have $10 in the bank, you have $10 in the bank, and it is no good hoping that "something will turn up." It won't, unless you put it there.
I don't know how mobile you are. Your north node of personal growth is in the 9th house, which rules things like higher education and overseas travel. You do seem to have writing (and probably speaking) ability with your strong Mercury in Virgo and moon in Gemini. What about teaching English in South Korea or Japan, if you have a university degree? Many people find they can save money with these stints. There are several reputable agencies that place people in private language schools overseas. If you don't have a university degree, would this be a good time to go back and get one? You'd probably need some student loans, but if you are not over-loaded with debt now, this might be a good option.
If you need to stay where you are now, I note that the planetary rulers of your 10th house of career (Venus) and your 6th house of work and service (Mercury) are in your 8th house. The 8th is sometimes called the "house of shared resources" and it involves careers in the investments and insurance industries.
If you are mobile but don't want to leave the country, you might check out the astro-maps at Astrodienst, where you got your chart. They have maps of planetary lines showing good and potentially troublesome places to live. These are located in the "special charts" section. Or just do the 'astro-click travel" map, which is interactive. If you find some good places, you can start checking them out.
And just trust the universe to support you! A lot of college English majors would be thrilled if they could get writing jobs, and you've done it. Obviously you've got something going for you. With your sun sextile Uranus, you need diversity in life.

Re: Did I fail the test of Saturn? (Career)
hi felkin,
saturn, pluto and uranus are doing a number on your chart now as we speak by my read.. your t square - sun/mercury at the top with neptune/moon opp on the base, all in the mutable signs and houses along with a western hemisphere emphasis, suggest you may be more likely to feel at the mercy of circumstances beyond your control... it isn't completely true however!
t saturn is 45 your sun and neptune at present, basically at the midpoint of sun/neptune and that can be a deflating spot for a saturn transit to go over.. the sun/moon midpoint is about 90 degrees away from this same spot, a little further on as the gemini moon is 16 mutable, so sun/moon midpoint is 29 cancer 32, about square to where the saturn station with take place most of february.. however transit of jupiter thru your 5th or solar 9th is positive and can offset the saturn transit as i see it..
pluto is making a 135 to natal saturn exact right about jan 31st... these two planets together by transit can indicate hardship.. i think you are going to have to work hard to resolve your situation, but hopefully the month of february will be a turn around month for you where you land something positive to offset the challenging transits of saturn and pluto at this moment in time..
meanwhile t uranus is squaring onto your ascendant/jupiter/mars config as well! lots going on.. hopefully uranus will bring some surprises on the upside here.. i see mars/jupiter as a lucky combo on its own.. the transit of neptune/chiron into your 3rd in trine to this duo suggest the possibility of friends and or family perhaps coming up with some creative ideas to resolve your present situation.. i hope things work out for you.. cheers james
