Planets at Odds

In a perfect chart everyone would have all of their Planets in their dignities, but obviously this is impossible. I have Mars (Ruler of Aries) square my Moon (Ruler of Cancer) but aren't these two Planets naturally at odds? Wouldn't a square between these Planets be better than a conjunction or other positive aspects? In general I guess my question would be are bad aspect between Planets that are at odds actually positive? Ex. Mercury square Neptune, Venus square Uranus, Pluto square Sun, Mercury square Jupiter etc..

Really interesting way of looking at things! But having known several merc square jupis', I would have to go with no, hell no... NOT a good thing

In the case of Mars, yes. It is normal for Mars to square other planets, not only because its purpose is to provoke you to action, but also because of its transit times throughout the zodiac in relation to the other planets. Without that tension, one could become apathetic.

Squares indicate an inner tension that requires people to manifest the energies indicated by the paired planets. This is why squares often indicate people's career direction. Most people have at least one square in their charts.

Note that Mars is also the traditional ruler of Scorpio, which trines Cancer.
