Aquarius 23 (The Waving Bear) or When life imitates the Sabian Symbols
One of the fun things about the Sabian Symbols is that once you know them well, you begin to see them everywhere. Here's one recent example of Aquarius 23 (A big bear sitting down and waving all its paws) I came across on Youtube via a friend's facebook post:
http://youtu.be/O6Xo21L0ybE
top comment so far..."I wave at my food too.."
What's even more interesting, however, is just how many big bear waving videos there on on youtube. A cursory glance along the right side list of related videos quickly reveals at least a dozen more.

Re: Aquarius 23 (The Waving Bear) or When life imitates the Sabian Symbols
Being it's the degree right before my moon and I.C. I know it well also. ...I particulary like what Rudhyar wrote about it. [From Dane Rudhyar's, "An Astrological Mandala."]
"What constitutes the proper training of children or animals is a complex and much-disputed problem. The symbol seems to state simply that powerful life energies can be trained adequately — the implication or extension of the idea being that no training is really successful unless it leads to the realization of the value and power of self-discipline. We are constantly faced with situations which, whether we are aware of it or not, are in fact training situations; God or the Soul is the trainer. Much depends on the attitudes we assume in these situations...... This is DISCIPLESHIP in the true sense of the term."

Hey sdh3, I had been meaning to mention sooner, that the very morning after you posted this thread [on 12/14] the 'Good Morning America' program on NBC brought up the exact same video and showed it ...and it got me wondering...that this occurrence was just too...too coincidental...[I mean...really...all the videos on youtube that one could possibly bring up and show on the air on a national program, and it just so happens to be this one.!?!] Either it was just some random happenstance or what I think is more likely is that one of the members of this forum, or possibly someone that visited as a guest on 12/13, is a member of the NBC staff...[?!?]...
....

ptv, thanks for bringing that to my attention.
Here's my take on the situation. I saw the video for the first time and posted to this forum about it the same day. At the time I learned of the video, it was already going viral. That's probably why GMA picked up on it and showed it the next day. Morning news programs are always a few days behind the curve!

PS: Whenever possible, I like to update the images on my " Sabian Symbols in Images" blog with videos. That's what originally caught my eye, concerning this one with the bear. One of the best videos I have is for Scorpio 19,
A parrot listening and then talking.

Re: Aquarius 23 (The Waving Bear) or When life imitates the Sabian Symbols
...well, that certainly does explain it...silly me for not considering that...I was unaware that it was something going 'viral'...but seeing as it was originally posted in June 2010 and was only that day [or week?] going viral how was I to suspect that?
I was even beginning to consider that you might presently be working for NBC or possibly 'moonlighting' for them in some way...

sdh3 - I just wanted to say I checked out your blog and I think it's awesome. The pictures really do bring another dimension to the sabian symbols. When I look at them I receive "flashes" of insight that the words alone don't inspire.
Much thanks!

Sequestra, thanks for the kind words! I had the idea to do such a collection like this since the mid 90's. I tried it sometime in the late 90's but quickly abandoned the effort. Back then, clip art catalogs on CD just weren't up to the task. I didn't try again until 2008 when things like flickr and google images made the work so much easier. Actually it was really fun and really easy to collect the images. I did the whole blog in less than a month just working an hour or two in the evenings each night. If you ever want to suggest better images than the ones I have up there, please do so.
Finally, I agree 100% that well-selected images can say more to us than the words do. One of my next projects of this kind will be to create a 1-hour video of the sabians in iMovie using the images I have collected. Nothing fancy just images with title for 4-5 seconds and then a transition to the next symbol.

Re: Aquarius 23 (The Waving Bear) or When life imitates the Sabian Symbols
Well, as I never had my brothers birth data until a couple of months ago I was rather pleasantly startled last night to discover that His Part of Spirit is 22* Aquarius 20'..i.e. the 23rd degree of Aquarius.
I've been studying the Hermetic Lots [Parts] rather intensely the last couple of weeks in an attempt to write a thread that I believe is most important for all as to surviving a 'Worst case scenario' in 2012.
The Part of Spirit is itself one of the seven Hermetic Lots and is also involved in the formula for the Hermetic Lot of Eros and the Hermetic Lot of Victory, and it is the Hermetic Lot of Victory, Lot of Courage and Lot of Necessity that I have good reason to believe will be the key to surviving any such 'scenario', as I am referring to, in 2012.
It's been, "that kind of time" again the past few weeks. By that, I mean where certain degrees of the Zodiac suddenly start to repeatedly 'pop up', over and over and over again.
Capricorn 07* did so the last few weeks also. Pluto was conj. the degree, I just ..."Out Of The Blue", decided to check my progressed natal chart the other day as I had noticed a revival of an old thread on progressed Mid Havens and that made me look up a number of them for the people I am most intimately knowledgeable of. That day the Ascendant was the 7th degree of Capricorn...and the 12th house cusp of the chart was the 15th degree of Sagittarius, which happened to be the degree of the Zodiac that both the transiting SDun and Mercury were in that day.[the 12th house cusp {Placidus} represents what 'ones answer to the biggest problem{s} facing the world' is. The answer is through the Sabian symbology found for that degree of the Sign of the
Zodiac.]
Then, two days ago I had a question concerning what the next year, 2012, will be as to me both privately and publicly. I used the deck of playing cards that I have used only for such divination efforts for the last 9 years and drew the King of Clubs and the Seven of Hearts...that's the 7th degree of Capricorn...
