Trad ruler of 7th house conjunct mars...this is interesting...
I'm looking at my 7th house with trad rulership which is new for me. It makes a lot of sense. My dsc is pisces, trad ruler would be jupiter. My jupiter is in the 10th/11th house conjunct mars (which rules 9th and 4th houses traditionally). So, my ex husband was a foreigner and very martian. In fact, I've always felt that looking at my chart as neptune the ruler of the 7th never made sense...neptune is in my 4th, so you get the idea I would be attracted to Pisces/Cancer, very yeilding types and homebodies. No and nope. The 11th house and mars and jupiter seem to describe my past partners to a T, for better or worse. Also helps me understand why I am quite independent in love, and the overseas connection. My question is, if my ruler of the 7th is conjunct MARS, is that as bad as it seems? I know I have a split personality in the type I go for...it's either very intense, energetic and martian (cocky) or very wise, relaxed, creative men. I already know that the martian ones are bad for me, completely WRONG, nothing to sustain there other than passion, but is there something else (or a whole lot of something else) implied by this conjunction when viewed through a trad lens? Thank you for your help!

I <think> it would be necessary to look at Mars first before deciding if it's "bad." Can you post up the chart?

I know that you know that I am still brandy new...having said that...Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, and Mars is in triplicity, though out of sect...he wants to be below the horizon?. So, no, not as bad as it seems. Best place to start is here for learning about planet's dignities and debilities...you can delineate your Mars (ruled by your Moon, in Leo) and Jupiter, and decide for yourself if it works.

I love that "he wants to be below the horizon" Thank you, that resonates. With my mars/jup "up there" I end up being quite public, but with allll my Virgo I feel very private. Consequently, I have a hard time knowing what should be public and what should be private. Something that concerned me when going into business. Well, I quickly found out that that sort of eccentricity is fine in business, as long as you can deliver. I should say that I am happy that that mars/jup is above the horizon, b/c I need to be out in the world, even if it makes me a bit uncomfortable. Sorry, this tangent goes away from my posted question, but thanks for looking into it. We are all continuing to learn (esp me!), and I respect your imput tsmall.

Re: Trad ruler of 7th house conjunct mars...this is interesting...
Jupiter is exalted, Mars is in its sign of Fall = testimony that Jupiter supercedes Mars in the net influence here
Jupiter is more elevated than Mars = more testimony that Jupiter has greater influence than Mars
Jupiter is in sect (its in the day above the horizson), Mars is out of sect (for the same reason) = testimony that Jupiter has more influence in the conjunction than Mars
Jupiter is in the 11th whole sign house, its House of Joy = more testimony for the powerful influence of Jupiter.
For these reasons I would consider that the Mars influence in this Mars/Jupiter conjunction, is MINIMAL, and I would pretty much read this primarily as "Jupiter in Cancer in the 11th house", not considering Mars much of an influence in this conjunction, and I would consider Mars only a minimal influence relative to 11th house matters (almost totally overshadowed by Jupiter in this house)

Thank you, Dr. Farr
That's really nice to hear, as I've always been a little uneasy looking at that conjunction. Defo I have a lot of energy, but I love the energy of jupiter and I didn't like to think mine would be harmed by martian energy. I do really identify with jupiter qualities, and have always created opportunities in my life that just didn't exist otherwise. Kind of like plucking them from thin air, and I know jupiter rules that sort of thing.

the modern view of jupier conj mars is *confidence* in actions, where they express is 11th house of friendships.
pisces/neptune placed in 4th suggests you want partners to be involved in all family matters
If we look at 5th house of love affairs and romance we see Cappi/saturn and placed in 12th afflicted by conj moon.
Ruler of the Fifth House in the Twelfth House

Some of your love affairs may take place behind the scenes or you may choose to keep your romantic activities to yourself. Given a choice you'd rather keep your social activities private. You enjoy being by yourself at times and you can do some of your finest creative work while spending some time alone.

this has a typical flavour of 'hard to define' goalposts keep shifting and changing and of course 'sacfices' for partners. Pisces/neptune ruling 7th
Neptune in7th House – angular house
Often a strong psychic link with marriage partner. You will be easily affected by the moods and feelings of other people. You may be called upon to make sacrifices for business or marital partner. Relationships drawn to. Always looking for the IDEAL partner/mate, could well get what they wish for! Might get a clinging vine, or the opposite a very independent type spouse. Beware of self‑deception; ie wearing rose‑tinted glasses.
ruler of 7th in 11th (trad) suggests a high degree of friendship within relationships and someone having issues to do with freedom and independence..
