What is the difference between astrology and psychology?
Astrology is the study of the consolations and personality traits of someone born under a sign, and psychology is the study of the human mind. Psychology is a science, astrology is considered a psuedo-science.

Consolations... love it
Well, psychology is a large part of Natal astrology I suppose. Mundane or Horary astrology don't always focus on psychology.

Depends on who you ask, some people consider psychology a pseudo-science too.

Thank you for your ideas. Also,
Astrology is the study of relationships between humanity and objects in space beyond the human world. Various celestial movements and alignments are used to define, explain and/or predict events involved in human lives. Celestial bodies are directly connected to the totality of human experience.

"...Philippus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, who called himself Paracelsus and infuriated his medical colleagues by performing miracle cures, swept astrology into his compendious system-and anticipated psychiatry in doing so.The major vitue in employing astrology in medicine,he declared, was in order to unlock the secrets festering in the human heart."

Re: What is the difference between astrology and psychology?
There are many who think psychology is also a pseudo-science because it is not an "hard" science. Psychologists don't have hard-and-fast tests that can give only one right answer. If someone has a viral infection, you can perform tests to determine that it is an infection and then more tests to determine what kind of infection. Psychology has no such tests. Things such as "bipolar disorder" and "depression" are so ill-defined that it's impossible to construct any kind of reliable test. Psychology is regarded as a "soft" science because it is still so heavily based on subjective (and therefore immeasurable) perception.
Astrology and psychology are actually quite close to being the same study. Astrology incorporates indicators external to the individual, while psychology rests entirely on factors internal to the individual. My own perspective of astrology ties them together even more closely, as I believe the "real astrological forces" are internal to the individual and their movements are only indicated by planets and stars. There is no reason to say that the planets and stars themselves have a direct impact on human existence because astrology could work on entirely internal forces. If this is true, then astrology and psychology are the same pursuit. Therefore, I think of the motions of the planets as indicators of the "timing of psychology."

Basically speaking, Astrology is a science that studies the position of the stars and other planetary bodies and how they affect the world and the lives of the people who live in it. Psychology studies the human mind and how it affects human behavior. There's this branch of Astrology, Psychological Astrology, which focuses more on the people and their behavior, just like Psychology does. The difference is that while astrologers look at the stars, psychologists try to look at the mind itself.

Astrology is actually not one practice, but a word used for many practices, the only one of which is directly related to psychology being Modern astrology, aka astropsychology.

Astrology doesn't force people to take massive amounts of drugs to deal with normal problems which arise from being in our overly industrialized, over crowded, over polluted, toxic food, controlled, over stimulated and slave worker society.

Neither does Psychology. Psychiatry (and Sociology) is a different matter, however...

Psychologists consult psychiatrists, a lot of my sociology proffesors are disgusted with the drug industry and how they have the mental health establishments in their pockets!
