Will I meet with them today? (Known)

As the title says, the question I asked is "Will I meet with (them) today?"

I have a 9th house relationship with this person; we are to meet and talk pertaining to a project that could be submitted to a conference. I was honestly curious as to what was or was not going to happen today and thought to cast a horary to find out.

Me: L1, Mars in 14*03’ Cancer
Them: L9, Moon in 3*45’ Cancer

Considerations:

Dignities: Mars in 14*03’ Cancer has triplicity but is also in fall. The Moon in 3*45’ Cancer has domicile. With context to the question, I tend to see this as reflecting I essentially have little-to-no control in the situation. It also shows me as relatively dissatisfied. When/if we meet is their decision to make, not mine: they are stronger than I.

-Moon/Mars are in my 8th / their 12th: both weak positions to be in.

-Mercury retrograde in their 1st: wondering if that's an impediment on their part.

Receptions: Mars is ruled by the Moon while the Moon receives Mars by triplicity, term and fall. I wanted to meet today as opposed to tomorrow, but told them that I would work around what it best for them. They essentially let on that more important yet unpredictable factors may render tomorrow a better option. I wonder if my inclination to work with/around them rather than around me (Mars in fall and ruled by Moon) allows them to be ambiguous about making a firm decision (Mars in Moon’s triplicity, term and fall). In any case, these aren't strong receptions indicating "yes."

Aspect: Too wide an orb for a conjunction, though applying.

-Moon is just separating from a sextile to Venus, which lingers in the last few degrees of their 1st: could this represent that they needed to take their stepdaughter (their L11) to run an important errand today?

Prohibition: Moon will eventually sextile Jupiter (and trine Saturn) before partiling Mars.

-I do wonder about Mars 0* conjunct Sirius, though…

Verdict: We will not meet today.

Outcome: We are not meeting today. They contacted me in the late afternoon and said they had just gotten back from their errand, so could I meet tomorrow?

If you have any suggestions about how I could have better went about this, by all means let me know! For instance, was it all right that I used the contact between primary significators instead of taking "us" as L1 and the meeting/discussion as L3?

The questioned Venus is Combust. A Planet that is Combust shows a powerless person, and lacks the ability to act.

Why can't the Planet act? Well, the Sun is in Virgo, in the 5th House (Children, Plays, Restaurants, Sex), you know the fun things, so they probably had to tend to one of those things above.

Why do you use the 7th instead of the 9th? Shouldn't we use the house that best describes who the person is to us? I learned that the 7th house was to be given to people (other than those usually signified by the 7th) who you could not place in other houses.

By "I have a 9th house relationship with the person" I am trying not to disclose who exactly this person is (though you could probably figure it out) but I still have to say that they are the 9th house to me. Such as a friend would be my 11th, a servant my 6th and so forth.

Say you went into court and you are against an accountant, since the 2nd House is related to money would we use it to signifie him?

This is a very straight forward rule, no tricks, but logic.

It gets tricky because if you ask who would win a fight (boxing), and theirs a title involved, the title holder gets the 1st and opponent gets the 4th. If their was no title then the opponent gets the 7th. What happens if they both held titles and they were unifying? Well I don't know.

Horary is thousands of years old, they didn't put these rules in place because it's cool, but for accuracy, not only in results but also in logic.

Well, if that is the case then every example in my horary texts where a quesited person (Children, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, Friends, Teachers, Bosses, Servants, and etc.) is signified by a house ruler other than the 7th is baloney. That does not make sense to me because one could potentially extend this logic and give anything we ask about the ruler of the 7th.

I'm not saying you are wrong, it just runs counter to everything I have read and been advised. I think I'll need to try both approaches on for size to see which yields correct answers most consistently.

(Following is not in accordance with standard horary practice and uses whole sign house format)

-querent = 1st house = Scorpio = Mars
-other person = 7th house = Taurus = Venus
-Venus flows away from Mars = - testimony for getting together at a meeting
-no applying aspected between Venus and Mars = - testimony
-querent's co-significator, Moon flows toward Venus (+) but is in seperating aspect to Venus (-) = net neutral testimony

Results:
Positive = 0
Negative = -2 testimonies
Net = -2 testimonies

...therefore the indications were that the meeting would probably not happen at the day specified.

By Simple Lunar Divination (same question)
-ascending sign is a straight sign = -1
-Moon flows away from Jupiter = -1
-Moon flows toward Mars = -2
-Moon's next house is the angular 10th (whole sign house) = +1
-Moon's next sign is a straight sign = -1
-Moon flows toward the Part of Fortune = +1

Results:
Positive = +2
Negative = -5
Net = -3

With a net-3 the divination is quite unfavorable for the meeting to take place at the time specified...

Sugar, also, I just looked at the chart again and if you use the 7th then the Sun would be considered in the 4th house.

As I had updated, we did not meet today. I did ask (after I saw the "no" answer through my analysis but before I was contacted) if we would meet tomorrow, the answer seemed more positive but confused. I suppose it doesn't matter now, however!

Totally I do! But I specified that the person involved was a 9th house relationship to me in order to try to avoid that confusion. So that way, anyone who looked at the chart could follow my line of analysis without me divulging who exactly this involves. I apologize that that was not clear
