seeking for robust meaning of retrograde Saturn and Jupiter in natal

Hello All -

I have been researching different aspects of my natal chart hoping to come to a more comprehensive understanding of various aspects and how to work most effectively with those aspects. One thing that has me a bit stumped are retrograde planets. The two highest planets in my natal chart are Jupiter in Taurus (8th) and Saturn in Leo (10th), and both are retrograde, and square each other. The only thing I've been able to find can be summed up in two words - internal/introspective and highly personally controlled. Both are true of me. I'm honestly a little scared/worried given what I've been reading. Given that both planets are elevated, what does this mean? How I should interact with the world? Especially interested in career focused responses. Are there any upsides?

Thank you!!

Firstly, I am glad to learn that you are researching your own chart in such a deep way. This is by far the best way to learn astrology. It is a study which has many many layers to it - a bit like a ginormous onion.

Do not be afraid of anything on your chart, as fear may block the clear expression of who you are. I have Jupiter Rx and I love it. It is the introspective, deep-thinking philosophical expression of Jupiter, rather than the overly optimistic, let's-go-skydiving kind of expression. It leads you to think first and act after you have considered the wisdom of what you are planning.

Saturn Rx - and in the 10th house - is more cautious than a `normal' Saturn. There is a concern that you may not be good enough, so one of your life tasks will be to work on this. In Leo, Saturn Rx is unsure of whether the thoughts and words are OK. This deep-seated insecurity is backed up through you having your Chiron in Aries - the wounding being about your true identity, which you may unconsciously try to cover.

As a square normally Jupiter and Saturn will push and pull one another, creating a fragmenting of purpose and endeavour. The person with this square may tend to sabotage good efforts which they make resulting in not very much to show for considerable effort. Given both these planets are Rx I would say that you are less likely to act rashly or unwisely than were they both direct. The issue may be that you are so concerned about whether you should act in a particular way, or whether you deserve what you want to achieve that you could be rendered inactive, or perhaps you may act in ways which you feel you should rather than how you want. I notice that you also have Mars-Neptune conjunct in Sag. This conjunction is not all that great for definitive action. It can render you unable to act at all for fear you act in the wrong way or at the wrong time. It may turn you into the procrastinator's procrastinator!

I have said enough, but just a quick word about career.
Your MC is ruled by the Moon, so you will have to really love anything you do. You may have to try many things before you find your true calling; I say this because of your Saturn placement in the 10th, which creates a delayed career, and possible great success when you are older.

Oh, and your MC is ruled by your Scorpio Moon. This desribes a fraught relationship with your mother, and may also be the origin of the control which you mentioned. Those with Scorpio Moon have a need to feel they are in control of their environment.
