Re: Anyone else getting lots of PM requests?
I got a bunch, too last week and I'm not even an experienced astrologer. But I always respond. Sometimes, if I feel confident or if I feel I can contribute at least a little, I will try to help them out. If I don't have time or if it's beyond the scope of my knowledge, I just send them a reply stating so. I have yet to receive a rude reply to those. No complaints here.

It doesn't hurt to make your point loud and clear in advance, if people disregard your message then they can't complain. If they start harassing you via PM you can simply block them.

Re: Anyone else getting lots of PM requests?
17?!!! Sounds like a creep. The ignore feature is so limited, there should be a 'block user' feature so that they can't even see you on the board anymore.

Thanks misskitty for starting the thread.
And Thanks to Dr. Farr for pointing to ignore list.

Re: Anyone else getting lots of PM requests?
I dont even mind PM's honestly. As long as they arent being demanding in a way that assumes something upon me. But, as you guys know, I am NOT the one for them to be asking anyhow! lol. Im prolly the biggest newbie here of the people actually learning!

Re: Anyone else getting lots of PM requests?
the only problem with getting rid of PM's or setting it up where only people who are ALREADY of your contacts can PM, is that that hinders new friendships. Sometimes Ill read a thread of someone who has some interesting points, and will want to PM them to talk about something further, but if they dont know me, I wont be able to do that. And then I would never get ON their contact list.
oh and P.S. thanks Tikana, but I honestly wasnt looking for any praise
But I do appreciate the encouragment!

Re: Anyone else getting lots of PM requests?
Again thanking Dr. Farr for pointing about Ignore List.
But I am wondering, the ignore list is one sided (half) or two sided (full) in this forum?
Most of the implementations are one sided. Means, if I ignore someone, I don't see that person, but other person can see me.
In forum like AW, one sided is useless - because real intention is to block other user to see any of my activity.
Thanks

Re: Anyone else getting lots of PM requests?
Its one sided: they can't contact you, and also you can't see their posts-but they can see yours; but at least this prevents the undesirable member from contacting you by PM, etc...and-if what they post bothers you, you are also spared from having to see that and being bothered by it...

Re: Anyone else getting lots of PM requests?
I dont come on here anymore, but I do remember some persistent PMs back when I was interpreting. Id also like to take a chance and thank Rafaela,Neptune and Serendipity for always coming to my aid and replying to my charts, when I asked them to,so thank you guys.
I would try to make a difference between harrasment and desperation coming from a member. Harrasment would be purely agressive, mean, underhanded, violatile, whilst a desperate person,well.. I know what it feels like. I began learning horary precisely because I was acting in a desperate mannor, postiing chart after chart after chart about an EX boyfriend of mine, wakeing up in the middle of the night crying and asking questions, till the point nobody wanted to do my charts anymore... in which they were right.
so,if I see that someone is acting out, because their sanity has been swept ( what an expresion lol ) ,because of hurt, suffering and too many tears-I would answer. But the '' I just met him will he break up with his girlfriend '' and posting it 20 times is frivolous.
I always try to interpret my own chart, for the other person to feel respected, showing that I am not taking them as an online fortune telling mashine but that I actually go into dicussion. Sometimes I ask in PM when I see someone very good in horary, simply because Id like an opinion from someone better than myself, even if I have interpreted. so,part of it is that too, see how the ''wiser one'' analyses it. Though I have to admit, this time I didnt really interpret my own charts, mainly because,in regards to the Ex question I have troubles finding the significator not to mention the fact that I have been pointed out that, while the Asc is Sun, I am actually Venus
and in the other chart, which is Venusian-Marsian themed, because I already know how that goes ( that chart can fall under the '' I already know how to inerpret and whats going on but would appreciate people more knnolegable than me to take a look if I missed something'' )

I completely agree. The ignore feature here is useless. It needs to be a block feature so they can't see US either.

This feature is called REVERSE IGNORE LIST. If this feature is available in back-end software, then enabling that feature will be quite useful.
I request moderaters to see, whether reverse ignore list is also available with ignore list (technical feasibility). If yes, next request is to look into the possibility of enebling it (administrative decision).
Thanks everyone.

Re: Anyone else getting lots of PM requests?
Unless it's a new poster who is fly by night kind of thing or harrassing then I don't mind when people private me about horary. I'm flattered.
