Just thinking about Uranus

So I've been thinking for a while now that the way uranus is presented in astrology isn't quite accurate. Common astrological knowledge states that situations or relationships that begin under a uranus transit end just as quickly as they start. This isn't what I have experienced in my life or noticed in the people around me. It does seem that uranus brings a feeling of restlesness and a desire to shake things up, but it can bring situations that are full of depth and long lasting. I actually see situations more often that are long lasting. There does seem to be an awareness that the situation won't last forever, but in reality the situation can seem to go on for a long time. Often times the length of the experience will extend much father out in time than saturn. I just up and decided to move thousands of miles away from my home under a uranus transit. That was 3 years ago. Conventional uranus views would say that I would of went back home after a couple of months. This lady was telling me about how she thought she and her husband were happily married and then he just didn't come home one day and she never saw him again. She said that was 10 years ago, and she feels like she is just now getting over it. He didn't come running home once the transit was over. He was permanently gone. This had a huge emotional impact on the lady, just as me moving to place where I didn't know anyone has had a strong impact on me. Uranus can make long lasting deep emotional change on a person. The events of a uranus transit aren't all silly fluffy things. Uranus is meant to wake you up. I needed to express this difference in how I see uranus play out in people's lives and how I see the planet described. L.

Re: Just thinking about Uranus

I met my partner and got pregnant under the Uranus transit to my Sun in the 7th. The interpretations in the books say romance may be fleeting. My romance has turned permanent and I have a new baby. Uranus seemed to bring good changes and shook up my life in a good way.

Re: Just thinking about Uranus

i think it depends on how close or far neptune is. neptune can make a uranus end to something seem sudden. truly sudden ends are more indicative and less traumatic of sun, merc, venus or mars transiting uranus.

Re: Just thinking about Uranus

I don't view Uranus as a "bad" planet, I see it as sudden life changes, depending on the aspects to it would determine what these changes might be, for good or not so good. 5 years ago, we had a life changing change of residence under a uranus transit, it was the best thing that ever happened to us, especially for my kids, they are so happy here, what seemed to be an impossible situation turned out to be easy and problem free! LOL, except we're flat broke, but that's another story!

Re: Just thinking about Uranus

Saturn does have a way of crystalizing those sudden Uranian experiences, at times. They are a team, even if mainly opposites, but opposites usually make good pairs! If the new Uranian experience is working, and you've integrated it, Saturn is often willing to "chisel it into stone". The fleeting nature of Uranian experiences often relates to those sudden jumps which weren't so sound for one reason or another; Saturn refuses to crystalize them, and they tend to go up in airy vapor. Often times, we use our Uranian energy to try exciting and radical things, but through Uranus we don't make a commitment. Uranus is an air object, fleeting in nature and always hungry for new experience, never staying in one place too long. Think of Mercury/Gemini, of which he is the higher vibration. Saturn is an earth object, concerned with form and stability.

In the opposite direction, Uranus works to ensure Saturn doesn't get too hung up on the same old thing and breaks him out of unneccessary patterns.

Saturn and Uranus actually have quite the affiliation. In classical rulership, Saturn ruled Uranus's modern sign Aquarius. In esoteric philosophy, it is said the energy of Saturn is transformed to the resonance of Uranus through the 1st initiation. In astronomy, Saturn and Uranus share a similar ring composition and structure, and share neighboring orbits.

I consider Uranus neither a benefic nor malefic influence. As his glyph shows two opposing directions, his influence can be for better or worse. Part of the Uranian experience is seeing both sides of everything, and he'd rather us try out every experience so we can decide for ourselves if its good or bad, but he couldn't imagine us being stuck in the same patterns for too long. Life is too short for that, and that is part of his message.

Edit to add:
Often, we see a planetary cycle, rather than the energy of a single planet, at work. For example, the Saturn/Uranus cycle could indicate crystalization/implementation (Saturn) of a sudden happening or change (Uranus).

In midpoint notation, the crystalization of a sudden new relationship might show up in transits as SA=VE/UR

Re: Just thinking about Uranus

I'm glad quite a few of us view uranus in a positive growth orientated way. It does seem like the planet that shakes you up to grow. I guess I just got a really archaic introduction to uranus as this flakey planet that just causes a lot of pointless chaos . God, why did I ever listen to that stuff. L.

Re: Just thinking about Uranus

I have Uranus transiting my 1st and is in conj. with my natal Mars in 1st.
What to say...
- enormous energy
- exercising (more then usual - if there is more for Sagittarius)
- distant approach to situations and feeling of clearance (finaly)
- some mysterious energy that everyone suddenly ``see`` in me but are also afraid of
- I started with astrology this year (my 12th in Aquarius)
- ``big cleaning up`` with friendhips (only true ones I kept)
- I wish this ``energy doping`` never stopes

(I had one collapse - during the Forum collapse I also collapsed - but now I am back)

Only positive changes for me...

Re: Just thinking about Uranus

I've been through quite a number of Uranus transits. Uranus definitely upsets the applecart. The woman you mentioned may have taken a long 20 years to get over her experience but the transit made her husband split in a shocking and unexpected way which is Uranus' reputation. I've experienced getting into exciting relationships that get boring once the transit is over. For me Uranus means "temporary" not long term. I think of Uranus as the planet that gives us the courage to get out of a rut and break away. You said you moved on a Uranus transit. That makes sense to me. I'm confused because after that statement..... didn't you say you stayed for three years? Do you mean that because the move resulted in a long term stay that Uranus does not have an unsettling influence?
Perhaps I'm not understanding what you mean.

Re: Just thinking about Uranus

I'm experiencing Uranus about-to-conjunct to my Ascendant right now and the changes are here to stay.

I've always applied the short term nature of Uranus to synastry charts (as opposed to Uranus in transit) Even in Synastry, you'd be surprised at how many Uranus heavy charts turn out to be long term relationships. Of course, all of it depends on the natal of the people in question. Someone with a Saturnian personality is not going to experience Uranus (in transit or in Synastry) the same way someone with a Neptunian personality might.

I love Uranus. Uranus-Mars contacts are the ones you have to worry about.

Edit: Natasa, I can relate! I stopped visiting the forum after it collapsed.

Dear Fleeting,
why do I have to worry - right now I have transiting Uranus in conj. with my natal Mars in 1st - I love the change in me - the only problem is (if this is what you ment) that this year I collapsed 2 times - last time it was during the Forum collapse - it was my health - everything at once - stomach, high temperature, energy level - I was just exhausted - my whole body!
This transit brought enormous energy to me but, occasionally - I collapse - I can not explain this - the only logical explanation is that this energy gives you ``wings`` so you think that you can work and exercise as much as you want without a break - so you do, and then, suddenly, your body tells you that you have to stop.
I am also less active on Forum after the collapse - I don`t know why - probably this situation with my health.

Best r

May be, but I have another idea which applies to all of us who use the internet. I have been an active member of a Blogging site for nearly three years and there I had built up a great network of like-minded people. Some of us are still in touch but the site has practically collapsed. Most of my friends (me included) don't visit the site any more, at least not for posting a Blog. We just like to keep in touch. I have lost some close friends too ... whom I miss very much. And interestingly I have lost touch with other people (like friends who live abroad) who were in touch only through the net.

My take on this situation is ... Uranus represents the internet and Saturn is opposing it. This puts a restriction on the use of the net for entertainment. My own net usage has practically doubled over the last one year ... but its all work related (Saturn is a hard task master ) and it leaves me with little time and energy to send a friendly mail, or even an email forward ... or just plain and simple chat with friends. May be this is just my experience, I would like to know if others have had similar experiences

Yes indeed, it is like that the use of Internet is somehow restrected. I write but I have an inside ``feeling`` to write only if I have something concrete (Saturn influence probably) to say or to give an answer to a post.
The only ``general chat`` post I could not resist was the one about strawberry Milkshake which I love (looooooooove)

So, we have restrictions - yes, Saturn brings restrictions but it is not a NO answer - it is YES but with obstacles and sometimes delays - a slow and ``heavy`` planet - what to do...

With my transiting Uranus in conj. with natal Mars, at least something to ``slow me down``... because, since last year, I just HAD to RUN and RUN and RUN and EXERCISE...

Re: Just thinking about Uranus

Natasa, I was referring to health problems and accidents when Uranus and Mars get together.

I had Uranus opp. Mars a while ago. Of course, an opposition is way different than a conjunction in terms of energy. These destructive energies are more apparent when you are dealing with a Square or an Opposition, but they also manifiest themselves in Conjunctions and Trines: i.e the exhaustation you were describing.

Uranus and Mars do not get along. As you mentioned, Uranus lets Mars run wild. This unrestrained energy can cause a lot of problems for people who do not know how to handle it.

I was constantly ill during my opposition and I got into a few very dangerous accidents. It was a very difficult time for me.

Anything and everything!!

The Uranus opposition is one of those life-changing transits, and I would suggest that you read up about it. Firstly it makes you feel restless and dissatisfied with the status quo. When my next eldest brother was part way through this opposition he rang me and made some comment like "Is this all there is to life?" He'd reached the pinnacle point in his career, and was without another clear goal, and was also not sure that his goal, now reached, was all that he'd hoped it would be.

With Uranus transiting your 7th, you may become rebellious, or a bit alternative, or even feel trapped and want to get out - of your closest relationships. If in a primary relationship you may feel that it is stagnating, or not as exciting or as stimulating as you need it to be.

The Uranus opposition is always life-changing, and turning 42 is often a turning point of some kind, when you make a decision to change something you've been putting up with for too long.

Yes indeed - from overplus energy I can fall in to exhaustion. It is hard to keep the balance and to ``spend`` it with ``economy`` in order to keep it on a constant and stable level.
Since this transit became ``active``, I have a program of running and exercising...

Other activities for Uranus - Mars aspect: Scorpios are strongly recommended... They can handle the unrestrained energy you mentioned above...

Sagittariously honestly ...

Re: Just thinking about Uranus

I associate Uranus above all with an electrifying mental energy and restlessness. It can rock the boat or sink it, but if you're riding the wave and can surf, it will be fascinating and exhilirating. I'm wary about it, but not scared at all.

I don't see that the someone in a relationship who leaves under a Uranus transit would try to return after the transit is over. It might be that someone who doesn't incorporate the Uranian energy during that transit loses it and falls under more habitual, possibly Saturnian influences and tries to return to the ex ante situation. Or the person might change permanently with the transit, going with the flow and choosing a new stage of life that leaves the old one behind. Uranus shows disregard for the things we inherit, unless it makes it possible to realise a brilliant new idea and make it a success.

In the relationships themselves, a prominent Uranus placement in the natal chart doesn't necessarily mean that relationships are unworkable and chaotic. Does the relationship recognise and support the Uranian impulse for room, independence and exploration or not? If it doesn't, expect disruption from your Uranian partner! If it does, you may find yourself with a partner who helps keep your relationship fresh, alive and exciting. But that may mean a relationship that isn't traditional. I can't say what that means. That would terribly un-Uranian!

There are no guarantees. It also depends on how your Uranian partner deals with the energy, of course.
